The Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University has proved to be an asset for the people of the country in general and the people of Maharashtra in particular. The university has made immense contributions towards the enhancement and growth of the society by providing educational opportunities to all strata of the society.

  • The university was established in the year 1983 on the propitious Maharashtra Day and also the Worker’s Day on the 1st of May
  • It has been recognized by the UGC as well u/s 12 (B) of the UGC Act, 1956 and also got the accreditation form NAAC and AICTE
  • The SGBAU has its jurisdiction over the Western Vidarbha areas that encompass five districts namely Amravati, Yavatmal, Akola, Buldhana and Washim.
  • It is also an esteemed member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities of London, UK
  • There are 10 faculties in the university including Arts, Science, Medicine, Biotechnology, Law, and Social Science and so on
  • A total of 325 colleges are there under the affiliation of the university imparting higher education to all sections of society
  • “Education for the Salvation of Soul” is the motto that the university follows and works upon and infuses this thought amongst the students as well

SGBAU Courses Offered:

SGBAU offers various UG & PG courses in the fields of Arts, Science, Technology & Management. Students can apply online through the official website of the university. The application process starts in the month of June every year. Course wise admission details along with the eligibility criteria are discussed in the following admission articles:

Only candidates who possess the relevant qualifying PG degree can register for the Law courses offered by the university.Seats are reserved for SC/ST/OBC candidates who are natives of the state of Maharashtra. Selection of candidates to LL.B and LL.M will be done on the basis of candidate’s performance in entrance examination followed by the counselling process conducted by the Admission Committee. Students can register themselves by submitting duly filled-in applications, along with the processing fee within the stipulated time. 

The university offers MBA, MCA and M.Sc in several disciplines to candidates with the relevant qualifying degree where eligibility criteria is different for candidates belonging to the state of Maharashtra, J&K Migrants, NRI/ Foreign nationals etc. Candidates will be shortlisted for MBA programme through State Common Entrance Test whereas in case of MCA, selection of students will be done on the basis of AIMCET i.e. (All India MCA Common Entrance Test) scores. For registration, candidates should fill the online application form available on University website and submit it within the stipulated time.

In addition to MBA, MCA and LL.M, the university also offers several other PG programmes such as M.P.Ed, M.Ed, and MA (5 disicplines). Candidates are shortlisted for the M.P.Ed / M.Ed programme on the basis of marks scored in the Government CET i.e. (Government Common Entrance Test). Candidate can register themselves by obtaining the application form available the university website and submitting it upon completion along with the application fee.

The university offers BE/B.Tech and ME/M.Tech programmes under the faculty Engineering & Technology. Selection of the candidates to the programmes is done on the basis of their performance in the state common entrance test i.e. MHT-CET 2016, conducted by the Maharashtra Directorate of Technical Education (DTE). Candidate can register themselves for B.Tech./ M.Tech. programme by submitting duly filled-in applications, along with the processing fee through the official university website/ DTE Maharashtra Portal. 

In addition to UG and PG courses, the university also offers research courses viz. Ph.D and M.Phil in the faculty of Education, Science and Arts. Only candidates with the relevant qualifying PG degree can register for the programmes and final selection will be done based on marks secured by the candidates in the Entrance test and interview. Interested candidates can register for admission by submitting duly filled-in applications along with the processing fee to the university office, on or before due date.

SGBAU releases the exam timetable for both winter & summer written examination 2016. Aspiring students can check their exam schedule from the official website of Amravati University by following the below mentioned steps:

  3. After clicking on this link you will be redirected to the SGBAU Exam Time Table Page.
  4. Select the faculty/department for which you want to check your timetable or say revised time table.
  5. All exam dates are given in the form of PDF. Download & save the same for future use.

SGBAU Results:

SGBAU releases the result online for both semester & year based UG & PG courses collectively. Students must follow the given steps to check the results:

  1. Visit to the official website of SGBAU.
  2. In the main menu click on the Results section.
  3. You will be redirected to the SGBAU Result portal.
  4. Select your course (semester/year) & enter your roll number. Submit the details.
  5. Now save & download the scorecard.

SGBAU Redressal Results:

Students can apply for the rechecking of their marks sheet, if they are not satisfied with their marks in any subject. SGBAU redressal results are available on the official website only. Students just need to click on the Current Redressal Result link. In case of the improvement of marks, status will be updated on the portal.

  1. In order to check the redressal result, sign in with your login ID & password.
  2. After login provide your year, name of the exam & roll number.
  3. After submission of details result will be displayed on the screen.
  4. Save & download your revised scorecard for future use.

The importance of physical agility and moral consciousness has been realized well by the university and hence it provides ample opportunity for the students to engage in co-curricular activities like:

  • Inter- University Sports Tournaments and a number of sporting events being organized such as badminton, cricket etc.
  • The NSS wing of the university also encourages students to participate in social activities 
  • The university has the NCC unit as well in which the students take part in numbers
  • The students’ welfare department of the university also organizes Personality Development Camps, Orientation Camps for the students
  • It has also been successful in implementing the Village Adoption Scheme
