About University

In the end years of the pre-independent era, India witnessed a great change in the educational sphere with the inception of the Delhi College of Engineering. It was a great milestone achieved by India which contributed towards strengthening the Indian industries.

  • Initially known as the Delhi Polytechnic, the DCE came into existence in the year 1941 as a result of the Wood and Abott Committee of 1938.
  • The DCE came under the affiliation of the Delhi University in 1952 which allowed it start formal programs of graduation level.
  • It is credited as being the mother of numerous institutions that are now present across Delhi including the IIT Delhi.
  • It was then under the administrative control of the Government of NCT of Delhi under the Department of Technical Education & Training.
  • In July 2009, DCE was changed to Delhi Technological University by the Delhi Act 6 of 2009
  • The university has an amazing 164 acres of land of pure scenic beauty.

DTU Course Structure:

The University offers various kinds of courses on different subjects. DTU offers admission to following courses-

  1. B.Tech
  2. M.Tech
  3. MBA
  4. Ph.D.

DTU B.Tech Admissions:

Admission to the B.Tech program at DTU is made on the basis of marks scored by a candidate in Class XII or equivalent other qualifying examination and candidate’s performance in JEE (Main) Exam.

  • CBSE - 40% weight age
  • JEE (Main) - 60% weight age

Final selection to the program is based on the allocation of seats through Joint Admission Counselling (JAC).

DTU M.Tech Admissions:

DTU offers 22 M.Tech programs through its 9 departments. Applying candidate must have obtained Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate. Selection to the programs is made on the basis of GATE score obtained the candidate. M.Tech programs at DTU are offered in a Full-time mode as well as in Part-time mode.

DTU MBA Admissions:

DTU offers MBA programs in 6 Specializations namely Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management, Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, Knowledge, and Technology Management.  Applying candidate must have obtained Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate. Selection of the programs is made on the basis of CAT Percentile obtained the candidate.

The university also offers MBA programs for executives and working professionals also called EMBA. The programs require the candidates to have a work experience of at least 3 Year to be eligible to apply for the EMBA program.

DTU Ph.D. Admissions:

DTU offers the Ph.D. program to scholars with master’s degree in Engineering/Technology/ Sciences/Management/Humanities with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate. Selection to the program is based on candidate’s performance in written test and interview conducted by the university. Written test will be comprised of 60 questions, each carrying 1 Mark. The test will cover questions from an entire spectrum of the department syllabus and will be of one and half hour (1½) in duration. The interview weight age of 40 marks. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of 100 marks.

DTU Internal Examination:

DTU conducts examination for all the UG and PG courses offered which include B.Tech, M.Tech and MBA programs. Examination for all the programs is conducted twice in a year. DTU also has a portal dedicated to the examinations which include all the information regarding internal examination, Date Sheets, Results, Mark Sheet. One can also download the rechecking form from the same portal.

  • Library: DTU library is a three storied centrally air-conditioned spread over an area of 5000 Sq. meters. It also has a conference hall with capacity for 150 people and reading room for 300 people. It has a rich set of books collection with almost 1,23,978 books in the main library, 52,700 in General book bank, 9,057 in SCP Book Bank and 2085 received through donation.
  • Health Services: It has fully fledged 20-bed hospital block. Services of two medical practitioners are available to the students. It also invites special medical practitioners for ENT, eye, dental care etc., once a week.
  • EDUSAT Studio: DTU is one of the AICTE EDUSAT Base network center where experts lectures and programs related to engineering, science etc. are conducted.
  • Sports: DTU has provided the best of the facilities in sports and games for its students. It has special dedicated courts for almost all of the major games.

Events/Festivals:

The various cultural societies of the Delhi Technological University organize many cultural events and festivals in the university that gives the students a chance to display their skills in the fields other than academic.
