Bangalore University is situated in the capital city of Bangalore in Karnataka, India and is one of the premier educational institutions in the country.

  • In 1964, Bangalore University was formally established as nothing but an extension of the existing Mysore University.
  • It is accredited by NAAC with A grade

Bangalore University Courses

Bangalore University offers various UG, PG, Ph.D & integrated courses in Arts, Science, Education & Engineering departments. These courses have been offered in BU affiliated colleges & University colleges respectively. BU follows a unique Choice Based Credit system to define the course structure & to meet the evaluation requirements at the time of University examinations.

Bangalore University offers Ph.D in various departments under Karnataka State Universities Act, 2000. The degree is awarded only on the basis of original research work during the preparation of the thesis in the concerned discipline. Bangalore University Distance Education

Department of Distance Education, Bangalore Universityoffers various UG & PG courses in Arts, Commerce & Management. BU offers correspondence courses under below mentioned schemes:

  1. Open University Scheme (OU): To avail admission under this scheme, students need not to possess the minimum prescribed educational criteria, but must have to complete at least 18 years of age as on June 01 of the academic year. Along with the study material, BU also conducts the contact classes for the aspirants. Only BA & B.Com courses are offered under this scheme.
  2. Correspondence Scheme (FX): In order to secure admission under this scheme, students have to maintain the minimum eligibility criteria & study material will be provided to the enrolled students from BU, Distance Education department. Courses offered under FX scheme are: BA, B.Com, BBM, MA (in all disciplines except Sanskrit & French), M.Com, M.Sc (Mathematics), PG Diploma & Certificate courses.
  3. External Scheme (EX): This scheme requires to sustain the minimum educational qualification but no study material is provided from the authorities. Students have to prepare for the courses on their own. Courses offered under this scheme are only MA French & MA in Sanskrit.

Bangalore University Results

Bangalore University Conducts the semester examination in the months of May/June & November/December every year. The declaration of the result is depends on the aggregate marks obtained in the test or CGPA. Students can check their results for UG, PG & Integrated courses online through the official website only. Students need to follow the given steps to check their results.

Extracurricular Activities

National Service Scheme: NSS strength allocated to the University by State Government is 16,000 volunteers. There are 8,800 male and 7,200 female volunteers in NSS Units.

Library

  • The library at Bangalore University contains a collection of more than 58,000 book volumes and over 450 periodicals all of which range across as many as 45 different academic disciplines
  • It is subscribed 35 magazines and 47 newspapers and it has 1389 CD’s available

Hostel

  • There are seven hostels on the J.B. Campus and three on the City campus. There are two men’s hostels at Tumkur and Kolar and one Ladies hostels at Kolar. Hostel canteens are managed by student prefects
  • Hostel facility to the PG Students is limited to 2 years only.

Internet facility

Access to internet facilities to students is widely available on the campus itself. The entire campus is serviced by wireless internet access options thus making browsing the web a very easy and convenient affair for students who attend this University, through the use of their devices
