16th March 2018, Jalandhar: Tata Group conducted Asia’s largest Campus Quiz ‘Tata Crucible-2018’ at Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium of Lovely Professional University (LPU), where LPU Management students’ team of Sukhwinder Singh and Raghav won Runner-up Prize of Rs 35,000. A written and then quick prelim of 20 questions had made them to the final round. This year, the theme of the quiz revolves around 150 years of diverse businesses of the group to mark the 150th year of the ‘Tata Group’. This competition is conducted throughout the country annually by Tata Group in various steps. Winner LPU team has now made its winning place among top 76 teams across India, being selected out of 7500+ teams of 38 cities categorized under 5 zones constituted across the country. Out of 500+ teams, those participated in the preliminary round, six teams, including three teams of LPU, had competed in the final round. Traversing across 38 cities in India, one of the city competitions of the quiz is organized at LPU for the state of Punjab.
From fostering international understanding via student internship programs to promoting social entrepreneurship; Tata group engages with the youth via different initiatives. ‘Tata Crucible Quiz’ is one of these, which is aimed at bringing together the sharpest young minds to take on the toughest quizzing across Asia. Tata Group has been organizing this regional round for the last three consecutive years at LPU campus since 2015. The ‘Quiz’ also has its international editions in Singapore, Dubai and some other countries also.
LPU students made applauding, prompt and penetrating responses to Asia’s ace quiz-master Giri Bala Subramaniam aka Pickbrain and Ms. The other 2 teams were from SCD Government College Ludhiana City and DAVIET Jalandhar. LPU students outdid other competing teams, other than that of Aditya and Akshay of DAV College Jalandhar which won the competition with Rs 75,000 cash prize. Rashmi’s corporate knowledge quizzing and acquired 400 scores. The four questioning rounds of the finale at LPU of the quiz were based on the titles: ‘Conquering Unchartered Terrain; Walk the Talk; Play the Game beyond Prize; and, ‘One World’.
Expressing his gratitude towards ‘LPU’, Mr. Mittal advised all students to participate in out of the classrooms’ knowledge providing activities to be globally fit citizens. Pickbrain praised university for providing great infrastructure and allied assistance in holding the grand live show running in parallel. Rashmi Mittal honored the winning and participating teams with cash prizes, certificates & trophies. Mrs. She shared: “It is a matter of pride for us to see our students excelling in various fields as they possess the ability to communicate their learning in a right and victorious attitude.” LPU Pro-Chancellor Mrs.
Being extremely happy with the win, LPU students shared: “Living in a great study environment at LPU, we have developed ourselves by gaining versatile knowledge from diverse and enchanting doings at the campus. We feel that none of the other platforms would have judged us so well, as this ‘Quiz’ has. We are thankful to the university for believing in us and for shaping us so well.” They shared that they incline to spend the prize money on their further studies. We also keep on getting motivation from our teachers to be ever winning in doing.
