Xavier Labour Research Institute(XLRI) will be organizing its common admission test, Xavier Aptitude Test on January 7, 2018. XAT is organized for providing admissions to more than 600 B-Schools in India, including the very prestigious XLRI.

Appearing for XAT (GMAT for foreign aspirants) is the first step towards the admission procedure. Aspirants completing XAT Cutoff then proceed to the subsequent selection rounds- Group Discussion and Individual Interview.

Each XAT College follows its various selection process. For aspirants making to the final merit list of XLRI, it is important to familiarize themselves with XAT Selection Process 2018 that is given below. It will commence from February and conclude in April 2018. Selected aspirants will appear for XAT Counseling 2018.

XLRI 2018 Eligibility Criteria

Aspirants want admission in different courses of XLRI is advised to check eligibility conditions before applying. It is essential for the aspirants to check the conditions set by the XLRI, Jamshedpur before applying for XAT 2018.

Here are the eligibility conditions to know the academic qualification and marks for applying and appearing for XAT 2018 Examination and Admission Procedure:

  • Aspirants who are completing their final examination by June 10, 2018, may also apply.
  • For PGDM(GM) course, aspirants must have minimum 5 years of managerial/supervisory experience.
  • However, NRI and foreign aspirants may apply via GMAT  (except Dubai and Kathmandu wherein aspirants have the option of appearing for XAT 2018).
  • All Indian aspirants must appear for XAT 2018.
  • Aspirants must have a recognized Bachelor's degree of at least three years period or equivalent in any branch.
  •  For PGDM(GMBA) course, preference will be given to aspirants with 3 or more years of relevant work experience.

XAT 2018 Cutoff for XLRI

XLRI will call aspirants for GD-PI on the basis of their XAT Cutoff 2018. The at least percentiles need in order to be considered for an XLRI call in the year 2014 is given below:

Selection Process XAT 2018 for XLRI 

Before taking part in XAT selection process, aspirants have to apply complete XAT 2018. Aspirants may apply for more than one programme. The last date to register for XAT 2018 is November 20, 2017. Those who apply for multiple programmes may be called for multiple interviews and group discussions.

  • Fees for Foreign and NRI aspirants applying via XAT 2018 is $50 and $25 each for every additional programme of XLRI
  • Fees for Indian aspirants applying via XAT 2018 is INR 1650 and INR 300 each for every additional programme of XLRI

Stage 1 is XAT online test, based on the performance of aspirants in XAT 2018. In stage 2, aspirants will be shortlisted for the Stage 3 i.e. individual interview and/or Group Discussion.

Stage 1: XAT 2018

  • According to XLRI, XAT 2018 qualified aspirants will be shortlisted after their performance in the online Examination and will be called for admissions.
  • In the first stage, aspirants have to appear for XAT that is scheduled for January 7, 2018 in an online method.
  • XAT Registration 2018 can be done between August 16 to November 30.
  • The question paper is divided into two parts. 72 Objective Multiple-choice questions from Verbal and Logical Ability, Judgement Making and Analytical Reasoning and Quantitative Ability are asked in the first part. Second part carries one essay writing and 25 questions on General Knowledge. The period of the paper is 205 minutes.
  • XAT Results will be declared on January 30, 2018 (tentatively).

On the basis of their performance in XAT 2018, aspirants will be shortlisted for pre-admission rounds. It includes Individual Interview (PI) and/or Group Discussion (depends on the course). Only those aspirants who will perform exceptionally well in XAT 2018 are shortlisted for the Stage 2.

Stage 2: Individual Interview and Group Discussion

The Individual Interviews and/or Group Discussion for aspirants via XAT will be organized between mid-February and March 2018 in Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Jamshedpur only.

Group Discussion

  • In Group Discussions, aspirants are divided into a group of 8-10 applicants. Group is given a topic to discuss among themselves for 20-30 minute. In Group Discussion, committee normally checks for leadership qualities, confidence, content, and delivery. It’s a procedure to screen the Candidates’ potential as well as their skills.
  • GD is held only for aspirants who have applied for PGDM in HRM, GMBA, and regular PGDM course.

Individual Interview

  • The purpose of organizing an individual interview is to explore the answers of the Candidate, his/her interindividual and soft skills, confidence and thought clarity to gather more and deeper information/understanding about the Candidate.
  • For overseas aspirants of General Management Programme, Interviews can be organized over G-talk/Skype in online method through the Internet. Such aspirants will have to get in touch with the admissions office for scheduling the interview online after XAT 2018 Result.
  • It is designed to assess Candidates’ confidence, thought clarity, interindividual and soft skills. Individual Interview period depends totally on Candidates.

Stage 3: Final Selection

XLRI evaluates the overall performance of aspirants and prepares the final list of the selected aspirants. while preparing the final list. In addition to XAT and GDPI performance, XLRI may factor in academic ability and the relevant work experience, extra-curricular activities etc. These aspirants are provided seats in the management programmes for which they have applied in the Xavier Labour Research Institute(XLRI) – Xavier School of Management.

An aspirant is selected on the basis of his rank in XAT Merit List. This list is uploaded to XAT Official Website. The list is made of the below parameters:
