XAT 2018 is all set to be organized on January 7 by XLRI Jamshedpur. Almost 90,000 aspirants are expected to appear for the exam.  In a first, the Xavier Aptitude Test will be organized in the online method.

  • Questions in Part A are all objective, while there is a mix of objective and subjective questions in Part B.
  • XAT 2018 is expected to be organized in 49 cities. Check all  XAT Exam Centers
  • The paper of XAT is divided into 2 Parts (A & B). In total, there are 72 questions in Part A and 26 questions in Part B.
    • Part B contains questions on General Knowledge and an Essay writing question. Check XAT Question Paper
    • Part A contains 3 sections – Verbal and Logical Ability, Judgement Making and Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation
  • XAT Syllabus has been prepared in order to check the quantitative, judgment making and logical and verbal ability of participants.
  • Unattempted questions will result in a loss of 0.05 marks after a maximum of 12 unattempted questions.
  • Period of XAT Exam is 3.5 hours.
  • As per XAT Paper Analysis, the paper is generally of moderate difficulty level.
  • Every accurate response will fetch you +1 mark and every inaccurate response will result in -¼ mark deduction

Aspirants who qualify the entrance exam and also complete XAT Cutoff will be called for Group Discussion and Individual Interview round. These selection rounds will be held in February 2018.

Change in XAT Exam Format 2017

  • XLRI will not consider the score of XAT Paper 2 for shortlisting the aspirants for GD/ PI. However, Paper 2 score will be taken into consideration for shortlisting the aspirants’ final admissions.
  • One of the most surprising changes notified this year is definitely the change in exam method. For the past 60 years, XAT was being organized in the offline method. However, from this year, the exam will be organized in the online method. There has not been any other change released as yet.

XAT 2018 Marking Scheme

Each question carries equal marks in XAT 2018 question paper. Beyond this, if any question is left unattempted marks will be deducted. Aspirants have a choice for not attempting 12 questions only. Given below is the format of marking in the question paper:

  • For every accurate response, aspirant will get +1 mark
  • 0.25 marks will be deducted for each inaccurate response
  • An unattempted question will result in the deduction of 0.05 marks after 12 unattempted ones.

Model Paper of XAT 2018

XLRI Jamshedpur, the organizing body of XAT 2018 has announced an official model paper on its website. The questions it comprises give a fair idea about what can be expected in XAT 2018. The sections comprise A. Verbal and Logical Ability, Judgement Making and Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation and B. General Knowledge and an Essay writing. 

Practicing XAT 2018 Model Paper, along with the sample papers, will help you enhance your speed and accuracy. They will help you manage your time properly since there is a sectional time-limit of 170 minutes and 40 minutes respectively.
