Eligibility Criteria for XAT 2018

With the announce of XAT 2018 Notification, XLRI Jamshedpur has also announced the eligibility criteria for the entrance exam. Check XAT Exam Format It is essential to comply with the below conditions, in order to appear for Xavier Aptitude Test. XAT is scheduled for January 7 in the online method.

  • There are no at least aggregate marks criteria for appearing in XAT 2018. Check all  XAT Exam Dates 2018
  • There is no restriction on age or number of attempts.
  • Aspirants should possess a Bachelor’s degree of at least 3 years period or equivalent from a recognized authority in any branch.
  • NRI and Foreign Aspirants are also applicable to apply on the basis of GMAT(except Dubai and Kathmandu aspirants wherein aspirants also have an option of appearing for XAT 2018).
  • Aspirants who did graduation in 1980’s with a 2-year bachelor's degree are not applicable. 
  • Those appearing in the final year examination of their graduation degree in June 2018 are also applicable to apply for the examination.

Aspirants who satisfy XAT eligibility criteria 2018 can proceed towards XAT Registration. Read  How to apply for XAT 2018? until November 30, 2017. It can be done on the official website i.e. xatonline.net.in. This year, almost 90,000 aspirants are expected to appear for the test.

Exam Dates XAT 2018

It is important that the XAT application form is submitted on time in online method along with the application fee. Application forms without fee payment will be rejected. Payment of the application fee can be done via the online method or offline method. Clearly filled forms along with the application fee must be sent to the office address along with the list of important documents.

What is XAT 2018 Eligibility Criteria?

The eligibility for XAT varies as per the nationality, age, educational and program are chosen by an aspirant. All details have been given below for your reference:

XAT Eligibility Criteria as per Nationality

  • Aspirants with Indian citizenship can apply for XAT 2018.
  • Foreign nationals can apply via GMAT score (except in Dubai & Kathmandu where XAT is organized).
  • NRI & foreign aspirants can also apply for the exam.

XAT 2018 Eligibility Criteria as per Age Criteria

  • No upper or lower age limit is defined for XAT entrance exam.

XAT 2018 Eligibility Criteria as per Academics/ Education

  • Students with Post Graduate degree obligatory to put their Post Graduate percentage in application form instead of graduation percentage.
  • A graduation degree of 3 years period is the at least requirement.
  • All backlogs must be completed before admission via XAT is done.

XAT 2018 Eligibility Criteria as per Program 

For admission to XLRI, XAT is accepted and only 3 courses are provided:

  1. Human Resource Management
  • At Least 3 years of bachelor’s degree from a recognized institute.
  • NRI and foreign aspirants can apply via GMAT.
  • Students in final year of examination can apply if their result will be declared by June 10, 2018.
  1. Business Management
  • NRI and foreign origin students can apply via GMAT.
  • Students in final year of examination can apply but the result must be declared by June 10, 2018.
  • A bachelor’s degree of 3 years period in any stream.

  1. General Management programs (PGDM)
  • Managerial/supervisory experience of 5 years of experience by March 31, 2018.
  • XAT 2018 score and GMAT score will be considered. (GMAT exam must be completed between December 1, 2015, and December 20, 2017).
  • A recognized bachelors from any Indian or foreign university with 3 years of the period.
  1. Business Management Program (Part-Time)
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any branch obtained after an at least of three years of education after completing higher secondary education (10 + 2) or equivalent.
  • The bachelor’s degree should be from any of the universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or possess an equivalent qualification from an institution approved by AICTE.

Number of Attempts

XAT is although a tough exam, but there is no limit on the number of attempts. Generally, students take 3-5 attempts for XAT. Best is to complete the exam in one or two attempts since there is no fixed level of difficulty of the exam. A serious candidate is able to secure a seat in two to three attempts.

XAT 2018 Eligibility for International Aspirants

Aspirants belonging to the below categories are applicable to apply for XAT. They have the option of either applying through XAT or GMAT.

NRI / Foreign Students: Definition as per "Regulation for admission of NRI/Foreign Nationality/Person of Indian Origin", AICTE letter dated 24 April 2002 is as follows:

  • NRI: "NRI" or Non-Resident Indian is "not a resident" or who is "not ordinarily resident". A person is treated as "not ordinarily resident" when any of the following conditions are satisfied:
  1. If he/she has not been resident in India in nine out of ten preceding years; or
  2. If he/she has not been in India for a duration of 730 days or more during the preceding seven years.
  • Foreign National: "Foreign National" (FN) is a person having citizenship of a foreign country (citizens of all countries other than India) and not having the status of "NRI" and/or "Persons of Indian Origin" (PIO).
  • Persons of Indian Origin : "Persons of Indian Origin" (PIO) means a person having foreign citizenship (except Pakistan and Bangladesh) without "NRI" status, but who holds a Foreign Passport at the time of sending application, consideration for admission and during the duration of his study and he/she or anyone/ both of his/her parents or anyone / both of his /her grandparents is (or was) / are (or were) citizen (s) of India by virtue of the provisions of the Constitution of India.

Registration for XAT 2018

  • It will be available from August 16- November 30, 2017.
  • The aspirant who fulfills XAT Eligibility can proceed towards filling the application form.
  • XAT Registration primarily involves five steps - Registration, Application Form Filling, Uploading Documents, Payment of Fee, and Submitting Form. They are described below:

Step 1- Registration- The first step requires you to visit the official website and register using your individual details. You will receive a unique ID and Password to clear further process.

Step 2- Fill Application Form- Here, you must fill-in your individual and academic details, work experience, preferred course, and exam center.

Step 3- Fee Payment-  Here, aspirants will need to pay the requisite application fee in either online or offline method. The Application Fee for XAT is INR 1600/- (INR 2000/- if you pay the late fee) for all categories.

Step 4- Upload Documents- Aspirants will need to upload scanned images of their recent photograph and signature

Step 5- Confirmation Page- Post previewing all the filled data, you will receive a confirmation page.

Eligibility Criteria XAT 2018 FAQs

Q1) I have got backlogs in graduation, can I apply for XAT?

Ans ) Yes, you can apply but your admission will be finalized only if you complete the subject before the commencement of the semester in MBA school. The documents must be submitted to your college, where your admission has been done provisionally done.

Q2) I am a final year student, what to fill in the percentage filed?

Ans ) Add the aggregate percentage of marks obtained until the time of filling the form.

Q3) By completing the registration procedure, am I applicable for XLRI and other affiliated members?

Ans) You must fulfill XAT eligibility criteria 2018 given by each of the member institutes separately which are registered as XAT associate member.

Q4) Is XAT test used for admission to XLRI?

Ans) Yes, only via XAT you get admission in XLRI institute.

Q5) Is internship or Articleship counted as work experience?

Ans) NO, they are not counted as work experience.

Q6) I have a Post Graduate degree, what to put in the percentage field?

Ans) Put up your Post Graduate percentage as Post Graduate percentage.

Q7) I took 6 subjects in class 10, do I have to put best of 5 in class 10 exam field?

Ans) No, just put the class 10 total percentage.

Q8) Does the work experience before Graduation is counted?

Ans) No, it is not counted as work experience.

Q9) Can I apply via GMAT?

Ans) Yes, you can apply. Follow the process given on the link: acad.xlri.ac.in/gmatadmission/.

Aspirants who fulfill all the above criteria can register themselves latest by November 20. Successfully registered aspirants will appear for XAT 2018 on January 7. In case the authorities find out incorrect or faulty information, the application will be rejected.
