MH CET Reservation Criteria 2018

MH-CET (Maharashtra Common Entrance Test) is organized for admission into different courses such as medical, engineering and agriculture courses, law, management and MCA Courses. MAH-MCA CET (Maharshtra MCA Common Entrance Test) for admissions into Masters in Computer Applications Program. The admissions to MBA and Masters in Management Studies Courses are done via the MAH-CET  (Maharashtra MBA Common Entrance Test). As for the admission to 5 year integrated law programme and 3 year LLB courses is accomplished via MH CET Law 2018 organized yearly. There are separate exams for separate courses. MHT-CET is considered for medical, engineering and agriculture courses.

Reservation Claim under MAH MBA CET

Eligibility

MAH MBA CET: A aspirant looking to appear in MAH MBA CET must pass 12th standards with an at least aggregate score of 50% for general category and 45% for reserved category. For reservation under MAH MBA CET, there is a detailed breakdown of seats. Below, we offer the breakdown of seats available for admissions:

Maharashtra Seats: These seats are further classified into three categories:

  1. State Level Seats: Irrespective of aspirant’s home university area, these are the seats that are available to Maharashtra State aspirants for allocation via common admission procedure.
  2. Home University Seats: There is a certain percentage of reservation for home university aspirants. These are available to only those Maharashtra aspirants who have home University status as of that University.
  3. Other than Home University (OHU) Seats: Other than Home University (OHU) Seats are which are reserved for aspirants from Universities other than the University under the jurisdiction of which that institute is situated. Under the provision of OHU seats, the aspirant has an option to choose any other university excluding their home university.

All India Seats: Treated as general category seats, no provision for backward class categories is available for All India Seats. These are available for aspirants from Maharashtra State and Outside Maharashtra State.

Jammu & Kashmir Migrant Seats: Under CAP (Common Admission Procedure), one seat over and above the sanctioned intake capacity in each management institute is available. The J&K aspirants are classified into three categories:

  • J-1 Type: Due to terrorist activities, the children of citizens who are displaced from Jammu & Kashmir to any part of India or from unsafe border area of J & K to a relatively safer place in J & K from 1990 onwards.
  • J-3 Type: The children of staff and officers of J&K Police engaged in combating terrorist.
  • J-2 Type: The children of officers belonging to Indian Administrative Services, Indian Police Services, Indian Forest Services and children of the staff belonging to military and paramilitary forces, transferred to Jammu & Kashmir to combat terrorist activities and joined the post on or before the last date for submission of application form and serving there during the Admission Procedure.

Foreign Nationals / Persons of Indian Origin /Children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries Seats: For Foreign Nationals / Persons of Indian Origin/Children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries, there is a reservation of 15% of total available seats. A 3rd of this 15% reserved seats is reserved for children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries and the rest 2/3rd shall be reserved for the PIOs/Foreign Nationals.

Ward of NRI Seats: For NRI aspirants, 5% of the sanctioned intakes are available.

Institute Level Seats: For Institute level admission in unaided institutions, maximum 20% seats of SI are available.

Minority Seats: For admission to Minority community/group aspirants in unaided minority institutions, an at least 51% of seats of SI are available. Additionally, the percentage of Minority Seats and the percentage of Institute Level Seats should not cross 100%-mark.

Eligibility Criteria for All India Seats via CAP

  1. The aspirant should be an Indian National and should possess basic qualification.
  2. Appeared for CAT (organized by IIMs)/ GMAT (organized by GMAC, USA)/ CMAT 2015 (Organized by AICTE) /MAT (organized by AIMA in February 2018)/ XAT (organized by XLRI)/ ATMA (organized by AIMS)/ MAH MBA/MMS CET 2018.

Eligibility Criteria for J & K Migrant aspirants via CAP

  1. The aspirant should be an Indian National and should possess basic qualification.
  2. Appeared for MAH MBA/MMS CET 2018/ CAT (organized by IIMs)/ GMAT (organized by GMAC,USA)/ CMAT 2015 (Organized by AICTE)/MAT (organized by AIMA in February 2018)/ XAT (organized by XLRI)/ ATMA (organized by AIMS)

Eligibility Criteria for admission to Minority Seats/ Institute Level Seats

  • In case of Minority seats, the aspirant should belong to the minority community/group for which the institute has secured minority status.
  • The aspirant should be an Indian National and should possess basic qualification.

Reservation for Persons with Disability Aspirants

For aspirants with a disability, three percent seats of total sanctioned intake capacity of all the institutes are reserved. The various types of disabilities covered under this provision are:

  • PH-3: Aspirants with orthopedic disorders and learning disabilities, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Spastic (P3).
  • PH-1: Visually impaired (blind) aspirants (P1)
  • PH-2: Speech & hearing impaired (dumb and deaf ) aspirants, (P2)

Note- The percentage of handicap should not be lower than 40%. The aspirants obligatory to produce a certificate in prescribed proforma.

Application Procedure for the Reservation in Counseling

For J&K Migrants:

  • At the time of admission, produce original certificates.
  • Seek admission against seats reserved for J&K Migrants.
  • Report to the Director, Sydenham Institute of Management Studies & Research and Entrepreneurship Education (SIMSREE), B Road, Churchgate, Mumbai 400 020, for admission as per the schedule.
  • Confirm the admission by making payment of the requisite fee. 

For Foreign Nationals / Persons of Indian Origin /Children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries: For admissions to Unaided Institutes permitted to take admissions by State government, contact Directors/ Principals of the respective Unaided Institutes.

Reservation Claim under MHT CET

Constitutional Reservation

Directorate of Technical Education has released the constitutional reservation for the students appearing in MHT CET for admission in different courses in Maharashtra. The percentage of seats reserved for each category is displayed below in the table:

Procedure to Apply for Reservation

The aspirants interested in applying via reserved category must claim the reservation in the MHT CET online application form. Then, the aspirants belonging to backward categories obligatory to submit Caste /Tribe Validity Certificate and Caste Certificate at the time of filling preference form. Failing to do the aforementioned, no subsequent application to claim reserved seats will be entertained. If an aspirant fails to submit the need documents, the reserved category claim will not be granted.

Documents need to be submitted to apply via reservation

Aspirants belonging to aforestated Backward Class categories will need to submit:

  • Caste Certificate
  • Caste/Tribe Validity Certificate.

Documents Issuing Authority

Caste certificate issuing authority: Sub-Divisional Magistrate / Executive Magistrate /Metropolitan Magistrate in Maharashtra allot the certificate recognizing the caste under a particular backward category.

Caste/Tribe Validity Certificate: The authorities holding power to allot Caste/Tribe Validity Certificate are listed below:

  • Commissioner/ Jt. Commissioner, Tribe Scrutiny Committee of respective Region [Kokan (Thane), Pune, Nashik, Aurangabad, Amravati, Nagpur, Nandurbar, and Gadchiroli] allows the Tribe Validity Certificate to aspirants belonging to Scheduled Tribe.
  • Divisional Caste Scrutiny Committee of respective Divisional Social Welfare Office (Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Aurangabad, Amravati, Nagpur, and Latur) allots Caste Validity Certificate to aspirants belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Caste converts to Buddhism, Vimukta Jati (v), Nomadic Tribes c, d & M and Other Backward Class.

Exceptions to Reservation

The provision of reservation is not eligible to the aspirants belonging to creamy layer under any of the categories (iii), (iv), (v), (vi) and (vii). Sub-Divisional Officer/Deputy Collector/Collector of the district allots Non-Creamy Layer Certificate. This certificate must be produced before or on the last date of filling of preference form in any case. In case of abatement, the aspirant committing such offense shall be punished under Maharashtra Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Denotified Tribes (Vimukta Jatis), Nomadic Tribes, Other Backward Classes and Special Backward Category (Regulation of Issuance and Verification of) Caste Certificate Act, 2000. Such an aspirant obligatory to produce Non-Creamy Layer Certificate in their name as specified in government resolution in order to claim the benefits under reserved category.

Preference Form Filling

After the declaration of merit list, aspirants are invited to fill preference format centers situated in Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur & Aurangabad. Before or during filling preference form, the aspirants obligatory to fulfill the need eligibility criteria and submit following documents as eligible to them: Photo ID Proof, Nationality Certificate, Domicile Certificate, HSC certificate/ mark sheet, Medical Fitness Certificate, Constitutional reservation claim, Specified Reservation Claim, Additional Weightage Claim and SSC certificate/ mark sheet/ birth certificate/ school leaving certificate.

Defense Quota

For MHT CET, 5% of total seats subject to a maximum of 5 seats each in Dental/ Ayurved, Unani Colleges, Government/Municipal Corporation /Government Aided Medical and some Allied Health Science courses are reserved for children of Defence Service Personnel and Ex-Defence personnel including the ones killed or permanently disabled in action.

Categories for Defence Quota

There are three categories of defense for quota purposes. These are given below:

  • Def1: This category comprises a son/ daughter/ spouse of an Ex-defence service personnel, domiciled in the state of Maharashtra.
  • Def2: This category covers son/ daughter/ spouse of Active defense service personnel domiciled in the state of Maharashtra.

For an aspirant claiming reservation under defense quota for Def-1 & Def-2 seats, they must meet the following conditions:

  1. must be a son/daughter/spouse of a person who has been a member of the Armed Forces of India and who has put in minimum 5 years active service and has been subject to Indian Army Act, Indian Navy Act or Indian Air Force Act; and comprises an ex-serviceman who has retired from such service or was permanently disabled/killed in action. For claiming a seat under this category, the aspirant has to obtain a certificate from issuing authority or Zilla Sainik Board in the State of Maharashtra
  2. A relaxation in the condition of at least active service for five years may be granted if the defense service person has been permanently disabled or killed in action. Such relaxation will be allowed only after producing the certificate to prove such disability/death.

Following certificates are obligatory by the aspirant to be produced to be applicable for the seat in Def-1 & Def-2 category: Certificate evidencing the status of defense personnel of aspirant’s parents, Certificate proving aspirant being domicile in the State of Maharashtra, The domicile certificate should be obtained from District Magistrate/Metropolitan Magistrate/ Addl. District Magistrate or Tehsildar.

Even in case of aspirants from Def-1 & Def-2 category having passed SSS/HSC from outside Maharashtra State, they will be applicable for admission.

  • Def3: Def 3 encompasses a son/ daughter/ spouse of Active defense service personnel, transferred to Maharashtra State from out-side Maharashtra, who is not domicile of the State of Maharashtra. For an aspirant claiming reservation under defense quota for Def-3 seats, they must meet the following conditions:
  1. Prior to the last date for filling up of Preference Form, the related Defence Service person who is not domicile of the State of Maharashtra and who has been transferred in public interest to Maharashtra State.
  2. On the last date of filling of Preference Form, the related Defence Service person ought to be working within the jurisdiction of the related regional area in Maharashtra in which the aspirant has wanted a seat.
  3. The aspirant should have passed the qualifying examination.
  4. A certificate in proforma allotted by issuing authority is needed to be produced along with sufficient and necessary proof for above mentioned conditions

Note- This specified reservation is not eligible for the children of civilian staff working in the Indian Army, Navy & Air Force.

Procedure to Apply via Defence Quota

For aspirants applying for MHT CET via defense quota, it is mandatory to follow the procedure given below:

  • After that, the documents proving the defense quota status are obligatory to be produced. Such documents are: Certificate mentioning that your parent who is a defense personnel, Domicile certificate of the parent stating that he/she is domiciled in the State of Maharashtra. The domicile certificate should be obtained from District Magistrate/Metropolitan Magistrate/ Addl. District Magistrate or Tehsildar.
  • First of all, the aspirant must meet the eligibility criteria specified for defense categories.
  • Then, the aspirants need to fill proforma as eligible to their defense quota status.
  • Then, it must be claimed in the online application form of MHT CET.

Eligibility Conditions

An aspirant must meet the following eligibility conditions to apply for MHT CET via disabled reservations:

  1. As per Graduate Medical Education Regulation, 3% seats of the annual sanctioned intake capacity shall be filled up by aspirants with locomotors disability of lower limbs between 50% to 70%. Offered that in case any seat in this 3% quota remains unfilled on account of unavailability of aspirants with locomotors disability of lower limbs between 50% to 70% then any such unfilled seat in this 3% quota shall be filled up by persons with locomotors disability of lower limbs between 40% to 50% - before they are comprised of the annual sanctioned seats for State Quota aspirants. Offered further that this entire practice shall be finished by each medical college/institution as per the statutory time schedule for admissions and in no case, any admission will be made in the Medical course after September 30, 2018.
  2. For admission to Health Sciences Courses, an aspirant with a disability more than 70% will not be applicable. As per the MCI regulations, no other disability shall be allowed. However, a medical examination by a Special Medical Board constituted by Competent Authority is need to be taken by such aspirant. The Special Medical Board will ascertain the disability and fitness to undergo the course despite the disability.
  3. Special Medical Board will carry out verification of the disability and its judgment will be final. A notification will communicate the date and place of Special Medical Board.
  4. Visually handicapped aspirant are applicable for admission to Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPTh) Course as per notification DMER Notification. In Health Sciences courses at Govt. aided, corporation and government colleges, 3% of total available seats are reserved for physically handicapped aspirants.

Process to Apply via PWD quota

Physically disabled aspirants can apply for MHT CET via PWD quota if they manage a score of 45% in HSC examination.

  • First of all, the aspirants applying for MHT CET via PWD quota obligatory to claim the same in the online application form.
  • On the same day after medical examination, they have to fill preference form.
  • The aspirants also obligatory to appear for a medical examination.

Maharashtra-Karnataka Disputed Border Area (MKB) Quota

For the aspirants belonging to Maharashtra-Karnataka Disputed border area, eight seats in Government Medical Colleges, two seats in Government Dental Colleges and five seats in Government and Govt. aided Ayurvedic Colleges in Maharashtra are reserved. However, an aspirant obligatory to meet certain conditions that are given below:

  • Marathi must be the mother tongue of the aspirant and a certificate to the same effect must be produced from Principal/Head-Master of the School from where the aspirants have passed SSC examination or equivalent.
  • Should have passed SSC (or equivalent) and/or HSC (or equivalent) examination from an Institution located in the border area and produce a certificate to the same effect from the Principal/Head-Master of the College/School.
  • The aspirant must be a domicile of place located in the areas as specified in the list and obligatory to produce a domicile certificate from the District Collector accordingly.

Hilly Area (HA) Reservation

For the aspirants from Hilly areas, three percent seats of Govt. / Municipal Corporation Medical colleges are reserved. The aspirants claiming reservation under HA must meet the following to be applicable for the same:

  • Domicile Certificate of the parent stating that he/she is domiciled in the village declared as a Hilly area specified in the Table for the respective Regions (Rest of Maharashtra/ Vidarbha / Marathwada). The stated certificate should be obtained from the related Revenue Department officer (Tehsildar and Above).
  • For the HA claim; only the areas mentioned in the latest information offered by the related department and uploaded by the competent authority on the website "www.dmer.org" will be considered. The students are especially informed that the corrections if any in the HA area name mentioned in the list should be done by the students from the related department for HA claim.
  • The Competent Authority shall select the aspirants claiming HA on the basis of their Merit at MHCET-2015 examination.
  • Under these HA claim seats, the constitutional reservation is offered.
  • The aspirant should pass SSC/HSC (or equivalent) examination from School/Junior College located in the hilly area of his/her parent's domicile or if not so, at the most, from a School/Junior College located in the taluka of his/her parent's domicile.
  • The aspirant must appear at MH-CET-2015 examination, to avail the benefit of HA claim.

NRI Quota

The aspirants having admitted themselves as Non-Resident Indian are NRI aspirants. A 15% of total available seats are reserved for NRI aspirants. The eligibility of NRI aspirants is limited to only at Private Unaided Medical College, which has voluntarily joined MH-CET-2015, in 1st-year MBBS degree course. The conditions regarding NRI quota are:

  • NRI status of the aspirant who will be selected for MBBS course will be subject to the approval of Pravesh Niyantran Samiti (PNS).
  • Medical Council of India will prescribe the eligibility of qualifying examination i.e. 12th/HSC equivalent and eligibility of CET mark for admission to MBBS course for NRI aspirant.
  • NRI aspirant is exempted from eligibility criteria.

Penalty for Lapse/ Forfeiture/ Resigning of Seat

A penalty of INR 10 Lacs is imposed on the aspirant responsible for lapsing, forfeiting or resigning a seat during or after last round of admission.

Exceptions to Penalty for Lapse/Forfeiture/Resigning of Seat

However, penalty may be waived off by Special Medical Board if such cancellation of admission is on valid medical grounds.


Reservation Claim under MAH MCA CET

Eligibility

MAH MCA CET: The eligibility for this test is a passing a three-year bachelor degree from a recognised university with an at least score of 50% for general category and 45% for reserved category belonging to Maharashtra only. A description of these seats is given below: Types of Seats: For admission via MAH MCA CET, a number of seats are available.

Maharashtra Seats: These seats are further classified into three categories:

  1. State Level Seats: Irrespective of aspirant’s home university area, these are the seats that are available to Maharashtra State aspirants for allocation via common admission procedure.
  2. Home University Seats: There is a certain percentage of reservation for home university aspirants. These are available to only those Maharashtra aspirants who have home University status as of that University.
  3. Other than Home University (OHU) Seats: Other than Home University (OHU) Seats are which are reserved for aspirants from Universities other than the University under the jurisdiction of which that institute is situated. Under the provision of OHU seats, the aspirant has an option to choose any other university excluding their home university.

Jammu & Kashmir Migrant Seats: Under CAP (Common Admission Procedure), one seat over and above the sanctioned intake capacity in each management institute is available. The J&K aspirants are classified into three categories:

Application Procedure for the Reservation in Counseling

For J&K Migrants-

  • At the time of admission, produce original certificates.
