KCET - Karnataka Common Entrance Test Eligibility Criteria 2018

KCET Eligibility- KEA sets the eligibility criteria for KCET to seek admission to different participating institutes in Karnataka. Only citizens of India are applicable to apply for KCET 2017. Aspirants appearing for the qualifying examination are also applicable to apply. Domicile criteria are also eligible for the exam which has been defined under separate clauses.

KCET Eligibility

Citizen of Karnataka or aspirants who have studied in Karnataka can avail separate KCET Reservation. The at least age to apply for the exam is 17 years. Here are few important points about KCET Eligibility:

  • Aspirants must have obtained 45% aggregate for general students and 40% marks for reserved categories for B. Pharma/Pharm D.
  • The at least marks need in Class XII to apply for B. Tech via KCET is 45% for general category while it is 40% for reserved category.
  • For B.V.Sc. A.H., the at least marks need is 50% for general category while it is 45% for reserved categories.
  • For Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani, Naturopathy and Yoga, aspirants must have obtained at least 50% marks for general category while 40% marks must be obtained by reserved category aspirants.
  • Aspirants with PCM and PCB subjects during the qualifying examination are applicable. Board/Universities mentioned in notification at VTU website are applicable to apply for KCET.

KCET Application form was available from January 27, 2017. The application procedure was extended till March 08, 2017. For NEET 2017 and Foreign aspirants, the procedure has been extended up to June 20, 2017.


KCET - Course Wise Eligibility Criteria 2018

KEA has prescribed the course wise eligibility criteria for all the participants. Aspirants must ensure that they fulfil the eligibility criteria before applying for KCET 2017.

For Medical and Dental

The eligibility conditions for aspirants want admissions to medical and dental courses are:

  • Should obtain and get a valid score in NEET Under Graduate 2017.
  • Must have Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study
  • In case of SC, ST, Category-I and OBC (2A, 2B, 3A and 3B), an at least score of 40%
  • Medical/Dental risk will be prepared on the basis of performance of aspirants in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in qualifying exam and Common Entrance Test.
  • Has secured no less than 50% combined together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology
  • Must have passed the 12th class exam or second-year pre-university or equivalent
  • Obtained an aggregate at least score of 50 % in Physics, Chemistry and Biology

For Medicine and Homeopathy

To be applicable for admission in courses such as Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani, Naturopathy/Yoga, the aspirants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Must have Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study
  • In case of SC, ST, Category-I and OBC (2A, 2B, 3A and 3B), an at least score of 40%
  • Obtained an aggregate at least score of 50 % in Physics, Chemistry and Biology
  • A separate ISM H rank list will be published and prepared for admission in Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani and Naturopathy/Yoga courses on the basis of performance of aspirant in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in both qualifying examination and Common Entrance Test.

B.Sc. Courses

Bachelor of the fishery and Other Courses

The aspirants who meet the following eligibility criteria are applicable for KCET 2017:

  • The common rank list will be prepared and published on the basis of performance of aspirants in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in qualifying exam and Common Entrance Test. 
  • Must have Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects
  • Passed the 12th class exam or second-year pre-university or equivalent

Animal Husbandry, B. V. Sc.

For admissions in

  • B. V.Sc A.H. rank list will be prepared and published on the basis of performance of aspirants in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the Common Entrance Test.
  • Must have obtained an aggregate at least of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as optional subjects.

B Pharma

An aspirant must meet the following criteria for being applicable to appear in KCET 2017:

  • Must have Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • Must have passed 2nd PUC or 12th class exam.
  • An aggregate at least score of 45% in diploma in pharmacy examination is needed for aspirants from general category and 40% for SC, ST, Category-I and OBC (2A, 2B, 3A and 3B).
  • The merit list will be prepared on the basis of performance in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics whichever of the two is higher in the Common Entrance Test 2017. A separate common rank list is prepared for admissions to B-Pharma.
  • An aggregate at least score of 45% in 2nd PUC or 12th class exam is needed for aspirants from general category and 40% for SC, ST, Category-I and OBC (2A, 2B, 3A and 3B).

Pharma D

  • For the aspirants who have passed Diploma in Pharmacy course and are want admission to 2nd year B. Pharma (lateral entry), it needs to submit their photocopy of D-Pharma final year mark sheet on or before May 20, 2017, to KEA. In case of failing to do the same, the aspirant will not be assigned rank.
  • Must have mandatory subjects such as Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or pass a diploma in pharmacy examination.
  • The aspirants with Diploma in Pharmacy course must submit their photocopy of D-Pharma mark sheet on or before May 20, 2017, to KEA. In case of failing to do the same, the aspirant will not be assigned rank.
  • For admission in pharmacy course, the aspirants must meet the following conditions:
  • Should pass 2nd PUC or 12th class exam

Engineering

  • However, the above shall apply only for the determination of eligibility and not for rank determination for Engineering/Technology courses.
  • Must have mandatory subjects along with Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Biology/Electronics/Computer Science as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study
  • Must have passed the 12th class exam or second-year pre-university or equivalent
  • For Engineering/Technology courses, an aggregate at least of 45% marks for general category and 40% for in optional subjects in the qualifying examination is needed.
  • In case of marks obtained in Chemistry being less than the need for aggregate percentage, the marks obtained in Bio-Technology/Biology/Electronics/Computer Science in qualifying examination will be considered instead of Chemistry.
  • The engineering rank list will be prepared and published on the basis of performance of aspirants in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in both qualifying examination and Common Entrance Test.

NATA

NATA stands for National Aptitude Test in Architecture. For that, aspirants need to submit with the copy of 2nd PU/ 12th class marks sheet to KEA on or before May 24, 2017. Organizeed by the Council of Architecture, it is an All India level entrance examination. The interested aspirants may appear on any day before May 20, 2017. Degree course. For being considered for allocation of Architecture seats, aspirants should appear for NATA and obtain an at least of 40% marks including SC, ST, Category-I and OBC (2A, 2B, 3A and 3B). Only the aspirants who have appeared for NATA and have obtained at least marks in both qualifying examinations are provideed the architecture seats in government, aided and unaided institutions of the state. It is taken for admission to the first year of five years full-time B. Arch.


Clauses and Documents Need  Eligibility 2018

KEA has prescribed different eligibility clauses and documents need for KCET 2017. Details of different eligibility clauses are discussed below.

Code A

The aspirant should have studied and passed in one or more Government  Government recognised educational institutions situated in the States of Karnataka for a at least duration of SEVEN academic years commencing from 1st standard to 2nd PUC / 12th standard as on 1st July of the year in which the Entrance Test is held and must have appeared and passed either SSLC / 10th standard or 2nd PUC / 12th standard examination from Karnataka State. In case of the aspirant who had taken more than one year to pass a class or standard, the years of academic study is counted as one year only.

Documents to be Produced

  • SSLC / 10th standard mark sheet
  • 2nd PUC/ 12th standard mark sheet
  • Caste/Caste Income Certificate alloted by Related Tehsildar- For SC/ST in Form-D, Category-I in form E and 2A, 2B, 3 and 3B in Form F, if claiming reservation benefits
  • Study certificate
  • Rural Study Certificate for clear 10 years from 1st to 10th, if claiming rural quota
  • Kannada Medium Study Certificate for clear 10 years from 1st to 10th, if claiming rural quota

Code B

The aspirant should have studied and passed either 1st and 2nd year Pre-University Examination or 11th and 12th standard examination within the State of Karnataka from an Educational Institution run or recognised by the State Government and that either of the parents should have studied in Karnataka SEVEN years.

Documents to be Produced

  • 2nd PUC/ 12th standard mark sheet
  • The aspirant’s study certificate for having studied both 1st 2nd PUC  or 11th 12th standard in Karnataka alloted by the Head of the educational institution.
  • A study certificate for either of the parents having studied for minimum 7 years in Karnataka from the Head of the educational institution where they had studied.
  • Caste/Caste Income Certificate alloted by Related Tehsildar- For SC/ST in Form-D, Category-I in form E and 2A, 2B, 3 and 3B in Form F, if claiming reservation benefits
  • SSLC / 10th standard mark sheet

Code C

The aspirant and either of the parent’s mother tongue should be Kannada, Tulu or Kodava and either of parents was domiciled in the State of Karnataka, such aspirant should have passed the qualifying examination from a University or Board or any other Institution situated outside Karnataka and should be residing outside the State of Karnataka as on 1st May of 2017. Offered that the aspirant shall undergo a Kannada Language test organizeed by KEA.

Documents to be Produced:

  • Aspirant’s Study certificate, Transfer Certificate.
  • Domicile certificate alloted by related Revenue Authorities of the state of Karnataka regarding the earlier domicile of the father/mother of the aspirant as a place in the state of Karnataka. The place of the issuing authority should correspond to the place of domicile of the father/mother.
  • A duly sworn declaration regarding mother tongue of the aspirants.
  • Father/Mother 10th standard marks card/ cumulative record in original in support of mother tongue as Kannada/Tulu/Kodava.
  • 12th standard mark card of the aspirant along with-
  • Domicile certificate alloted by the related Revenue or Municipal Authorities certifying that the aspirant and his either of parents have resided outside the state of Karnataka as on 01-5-2017. The place of the issuing authority should correspond to the place of domicile of the aspirant/father/mother.
  • SSLC / 10th standard mark sheet

Code D

An aspirant whose mother tongue is Kannada, Tulu or Kodava should have resided and studied for a duration of SEVEN years between 1st and 12th standards in disputed Kannada speaking area of South Sholapur or Akkalkot or jath or Gadhinglaj taluks of Maharashtra State or Kasargod or Hosadurga Taluks of Kerala State. Offered that the aspirant shall undergo a Kannada Language test organizeed by KEA.

Documents to be Produced :

  • Aspirant’s study certificate alloted by the head of the institution, which should be countersigned by Taluk Education Officer.
  • A duly sworn declaration regarding mother tongue of the aspirant.
  • Residential certificate from the related Tahsildar of the respective disputed Taluk.
  • SSLC/10th standard Marks Card and 2nd PUC/12th standard Marks Card of the aspirant along with-

NOTE: The aspirants claiming eligibility under c and d above should invariably speak, read and write Kannada and must secure an at least of 12 marks in Kannada Language Test to be organizeed by KEA on May 6, 2017. Otherwise, they won’t be assigned ranks.

Code E

In the case of an aspirant who is son or daughter of defence personnel who has worked continuously in Karnataka for an at least duration of one year in Karnataka during the two-year duration of study of aspirants in PUC/11th and 12h standard course. The aspirant should have studied and passed the qualifying examination from any Government or Government recognised educational institution situated in the State of Karnataka.

Documents to be Produced:

  • 2nd PUC/12th Standard Marks Card of the aspirant along with-
  • Employment certificate of the parent alloted by the Controlling Office where the parents are working indicating the duration during which he has worked in the state of Karnataka i.e., from the reporting date to till date.
  • SSLC/10th standard Marks Cards
  • The aspirant’s study certificate for having studied 2nd PUC or equivalent examination in Karnataka alloted by the head of the educational institution

Code F

Son or daughter of serving Defence personnel from Karnataka who at the time of joining the Defence service had declared his/her hometown a place in the State of Karnataka. from a University or board or any other institution situated anywhere in India. Proof of such domicile should be obtained and produced by obtaining the extract from the AG’S discipline (Army Hqs) respective discipline of integrated HQ of MoD for Officers and respective  Record Offices for JCOs/OR. Further, the aspirant should have passed the Q.E.

Documents to be Produced:

  • Parent’s hometown declaration certificate while joining the service alloted by the respective discipline of integrated HQ of MoD for Officers and respective record offices for JCOs.
  • SSLC/10th standard Marks Card
  • If claiming reservation benefits:- Caste/Caste Income certificate alloted by Related Tahsildar as per the prescribed pattern is given in the brochure along with
  • 2nd PUC/12th standard Marks Card of the aspirant;

Code G

In the case of an aspirant who is a son or daughter of a defence personnel who had served in Karnataka for minimum one year and is posted on duty in Field/Active service and whose family is permitted by Defense Authorities to continue to stay in Karnataka. Such aspirant should have studied and passed the qualifying examination from any government or government recognised educational institution situated in Karnataka.

Documents to be Produced:

  • The aspirant’s study certificate for having studied 2nd PUC or equivalent examination in Karnataka alloted by the head of the educational institution
  • SSLC/10th standard Marks Cards
  • Service certificate of the parent alloted by the Controlling Office indicating the duration during which the parent has worked in Karnataka and a certificate showing the current place of posting, indicating that his family is permitted to stay in Karnataka. The current working place of the parent should be indicated by name and not by code numbers.
  • 2nd PUC/12th Standard Marks Card of the aspirant

Code H

Son or daughter of ex-servicemen who at the time of joining the defence service had declared a place in Karnataka as their hometown proof of such domicile should be obtained and produced from the “Deputy Director, Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement” of that district and the same should be countersigned by the Director, Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement. Further, the aspirant should have passed the qualifying examination from a university or board or any other institution situated anywhere in India.

Documents to be Produced:

  • Parent’s hometown declaration certificate while joining the service alloted by the Joint Director/Deputy Director of the related district and countersigned by the Director, Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement, Bangalore.
  • Caste/Caste Income Certificate alloted by Related Tehsildar- For SC/ST in Form-D, Category-I in form E and 2A, 2B, 3 and 3B in Form F, if claiming reservation benefits
  • 2nd PUC/12th standard mark sheet
  • SSLC/10th standard mark sheet

Code I

In the case of a aspirant being a son or daughter of an employee of the Union Government of the Union of Karnataka State Government Undertaking or Joint Sector Undertaking, who is liable to be transferred anywhere in India as per the terms and conditions of his employment and has worked in Karnataka for a at least duration of one year in Karnataka during the two year duration of study of aspirants in PUC/11th or 12th standards course And, such aspirant has studied and passed the qualifying examination from any government or government recognised educational institution situated in the state of Karnataka.

Documents:

  • SSLC/10th standard Marks Cards
  • A certificate from the employer indicating parents as an employee of Union or Karnataka State Government Undertaking or Joint Sector Undertaking.
  • A certificate from the employer indicating the parent’s duration of employment in the state of Karnataka and also showing that they are transferable anywhere in India.
  • 2nd PUC/12th Standard Marks Card of the aspirant
  • The aspirant’s study certificate for having studied 2nd PUC or equivalent examination in Karnataka alloted by the head of the educational institution

Code J

Son or daughter of a working or retired employee of the Union Government or employee of Union or Karnataka State Government undertaking or Joint Sector undertaking where such employee; (a) had declared to the employer at the time of joining service any place in Karnataka to be their home town; and (b) had studied in any government or government recognised educational institutions or institutions situated in Karnataka for a at least duration of seven years; and was or is liable to be transferred anywhere in India as per the terms and conditions of his employment. The aspirant also should have passed the qualifying examination from a university or board or any other institution situated anywhere in India.

Documents to be Produced:

  • 2nd PUC/12th standard mark sheet
  • Caste/Caste Income Certificate alloted by Related Tehsildar- For SC/ST in Form-D, Category-I in form E and 2A, 2B, 3 and 3B in Form F, if claiming reservation benefits along with:
    1.        
    2. A study certificate of the parent employee for having studied for minimum 7 years in Karnataka from the Head of the educational institution where they had studied.
    3.        
    4. Hometown declaration certificate of the parent employee while joining the service and showing that he is transferable anywhere in India alloted by the employer.
  • SSLC/10th standard mark sheet

Code K

Son or daughter of Members of Parliament elected from Karnataka. Further, the aspirant should have passed the qualifying examination from a university or board or any other institution situated anywhere in India.

Documents to be Produced:

  • 2nd PUC/ 12th standard mark sheet
  • Caste/Caste Income Certificate alloted by Related Tehsildar- For SC/ST in Form-D, Category-I in form E and 2A, 2B, 3 and 3B in Form F, if claiming reservation benefits
  • SSLC / 10th standard mark sheet
  • Certificate showing that the parent is/was a Member of Parliament elected from Karnataka alloted by the Parliament Secretariat

Code L

Son or father of serving or retired employee: (a) belonging to All India Service of Karnataka cadre; and (b) of the Karnataka State Government, who has served or is serving outside the State of Karnataka during the duration corresponding to aspirant’s study outside the state from 1st standard to 2nd PUC or 12th standard examination can be added to make up for seven years within Karnataka as need under clause (a) above.

Documents to be Produced:

  • SSLC / 10th standard mark sheet
  • Certificate from the Principal Secretary/Deputy Secretary/Under Secretary, DPAR, Government of Karnataka, Bangalore where the parent belongs to All India Service of Karnataka cadre stating that the parent is a member of such All India cadre. Such certificate should also state the duration for which they have served or are serving outside Karnataka and if they are a state government employee, a certificate certifying the same from the related head of the office/department.
  • 2nd PUC/ 12th standard mark sheet
  • Caste/Caste Income Certificate alloted by Related Tehsildar- For SC/ST in Form-D, Category-I in form E and 2A, 2B, 3 and 3B in Form F, if claiming reservation benefits

Code M

For son or daughter of Jammu and Kashmir migrants, a proof of migration is required to be produced from jurisdictional “District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner” of any state in India.

Documents to be Produced:

  • SSLC / 10th standard mark sheet
  • As the proof of migration, an original certificate alloted by Jurisdictional District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner of any state in India. Under the clause, aspirants can claim eligibility for the seats earmarked by the government.
  • 2nd PUC/ 12th standard mark sheet

Code N

The aspirants having studied 10 full years in Kannada medium from 1st standard to 10th standard in places outside of Karnataka required not to appear for Kannada Language test organizeed by KEA. However, the aspirant should have passed the qualifying examination from any government or government recognised educational institution.

Documents to be Produced:

  • 2nd PUC/ 12th standard mark sheet
  • Study certificate alloted by the head of the institution for having studied n Kannada medium from 1st standard to 10th standard
  • A domicile certificate alloted by the related Revenue or Municipal Authorities certifying that the aspirants and their parent have resided outside the state of Karnataka as on May 1, 2014. The place of the issuing authority should correspond to the place of domicile of the aspirant/father/mother
  • SSLC / 10th standard mark sheet

Code O

Son/daughter of working or retired employee in Central Armed Police Force service, who at the time of joining the CAPF service had declared the hometown as a place in the state of Karnataka, proof of such domicile having been produced by obtaining the extract from the Record Office of the CAPF unit where the parents’ service record is maintained. Further, the aspirant should have passed the Q.E. from a University or board or any other institution situated anywhere in India.

Documents to be Produced:

  • 2nd PUC/ 12th standard mark sheet
  • SSLC / 10th standard mark sheet
  • Caste/Caste Income Certificate alloted by Related Tehsildar- For SC/ST in Form-D, Category-I in form E and 2A, 2B, 3 and 3B in Form F, if claiming reservation benefits
  • Parent’s hometown declaration certificate while joining the service alloted by Record Office of the CAPF unit, where the parent's service records are maintained.
