KCET 2018 Application Form, Eligibility, Exam Date, Syllabus

KCET 2018 (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) is organized for admission to different courses in various streams such as Engineering, Pharmacy, Ayurveda etc. Organizing authority KEA (Karnataka Examinations Authority) has released KCET 2018 Exam Dates. NEET score will be used for admission to MBBS/BDS programs while admission to Architecture courses will be managed via NATA.
  • The syllabus for Pharmacy comprises Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. For engineering courses – Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics.

  • Aspirants must have finished 10+2 or second year Pre-University or any other equivalent examination.
  • KCET 2018 Hall Ticket will be announced from the 3rd week of April 2018.
  • KCET 2018 Application Form will be available from January 2018.
  • Aspirants who register successfully will appear for KCET 2018 on April 18 for Biology and Mathematics and on April 19 for Physics and Chemistry.

KCET 2018 will be organized in offline mode. Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga aspirants also need to appear for a Kannada Language test separately. There will be 4 papers in total in KCET - Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics.

Eligibility Criteria for KCET 2018

KCET eligibility criteria will vary according to the courses aspirants will apply for. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to different courses are mentioned below.

For Engineering/ Architecture Programs

  • The aspirant should have finished 12th standard, 2nd Year Pre-University or equivalent exam with Mathematics and Physics as mandatory subjects and also English as a language subject.
  • Aspirants appearing in 10+2 final exam or equivalent are also applicable to apply.
  • They must have secured 45% marks in Physics & Mathematics along with any one of the following subjects Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Biology/Electronics/Computer for General aspirants and 40% marks for SC/ ST aspirants.

For Science/ Pharmacy Programs

  • Aspirants should have finished 12th, 2nd year Pre-University or equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics and English as a language subject.
  • Aspirants appearing on their final year examination are applicable to apply.
  • They must have obtained 50% marks in PCB group for general categories and 40% marks for reserved categories.

KCET Application Form 2018

KCET 2018 Application Form will be announced online at in the 2nd week of January 2018. The stepwise instructions to apply for KCET 2018 are mentioned below. There are namely 4 steps in filling KCET Application Form 2018 – registration, uploading scanned images, fee payment and take a printout of application form & obtain seal and signature of Principal for document verification.

  • Aspirants can fill the application form till the 1st week of March 2018.
  • Aspirants must read the instruction cautiously, before filling the application form.
  • No other method will be eligible to get the KCET application form.
  • Aspirants required to upload their scanned photograph, left-hand thumb impression, and signature in jpeg/ jpg/ png pattern.
  • KCET 2018 online form will be available on the official website of KEA.
  • Take the printout of the filled application form for its future reference.
  • The size of the photograph, signature & left-hand thumb impression should be in between 5 KB and less than 40 KB.

Application Fee

Aspirants from General and OBC category have to pay INR 650/- as application fee while SC/ ST/PwD aspirants required to pay INR 500/-. For residents outside India, the fee has to be remitted through Demand Draft drawn in favor of Executive Director, Karnataka Examinations Authority, payable at Bangalore Aspirants who are residing out of Karnataka should remit INR 750/- as application fee while those residing outside India have to remit INR 5000/-. The fee payment will be made via offline method only i.e. bank challan.

KCET Hall Ticket 2018

Aspirants who have successfully register for the exam can download their hall ticket from the official website of the authority. The KEA will announce KCET Hall Ticket 2018 in the month of April. Admit card will include the important details about the exam such as name & roll number, examination center, exam date & timing etc. Without a valid hall ticket, no aspirant will be allowed in the examination hall.

  2. Click on the hall ticket link
  3. Enter the roll number and date of birth to get the hall ticket
  4. Click on download button and take multiple copies for its further use.

Exam Centers of KCET 2018

In total, 54 exam cities are allotted by Karnataka Exam Authority (KEA) in 2017. Aspirants should select the test center situated in the same district from where they have qualified the 12th standard or equivalent examination. Aspirants who want eligibility under Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga clauses should appear for CET 2018 in a test center, situated at Bangalore only.

Exam Format for KCET 2018

KCET 2018 will be organized in offline method i.e. pen and paper-based test. All the questions will be objective in nature. Each section will have in total 60 questions. Aspirants will need to use only blue or black ball point pen to mark their responses.  For every accurate answer, 1 mark will be honored. There will be no negative marking for the inaccurate answer in KCET 2018 Exam Format.

All the questions will be on Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) pattern. The total period of KCET is 3 hours and 30 minutes. KCET 2018 would be organized in English medium only. There will be a Kannada language test also for Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga aspirants only.

KCET Results 2018

  • The authority will also announce the KCET cut off after the result declaration.
  • The result will be released by the organizing authority in the Last week of May 2018.
  • Keep a print copy of the result & save it till the admission process not over.
  • Aspirants will check their KCET 2018 Results via online mode.
  • Aspirants have to enter their registration number to check their results.

Counseling Procedure of KCET 2018

  • The KCET Counseling will be commenced in the 2nd week of June 2018.
  • Aspirants’ documents will be verified at the time of counseling in the prescribed counseling center. So, aspirants have to report individually to the counseling.
  • The allocation of seats will take place as per the marks scored in the entrance examination, seat availability & filled choices.
  • The aspirant can participate in other counseling rounds if he/she cannot satisfy with the seat allocation.
  • Shortlisted aspirants will be called for the counseling procedure on the basis of their merit in the entrance examination.

Documents need at the time of counseling

All the aspirants participating in KCET Counseling are need carry the following documents for verification. Documents must carry in original along with attested photocopies.

  • Scorecard
  • Hall Ticket
  • 10th & 12th Mark sheet & Passing Certificate
  • Printout of the filled Application Form
  • Category certificate
  • Two passport size photographs

Reservation Criteria for KCET 2018

KCET 2018 Seat Reservation will be eligible for SC, ST, OBC aspirants. Aspirants of Karnataka Origin only, claiming eligibility for Govt. seats will be applicable to claim reservation under the following categories: NCC, Sports, Scouts and Guides, Defence, Ex-defence, PWD, Central Armed Police Force; Ex-Central Armed Police Force. 

The aspirants who belong to Ex-Central Armed Police will be issued seats according to merit only. The aspirants belonging to districts of Bidar, Gulbarga, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal, and Bellary shall be regarded as the local area. Provision of Reservation for aspirants of Hyderabad is also there in the norms of KCET 2017.
