  • The state Telangana holds 3 state quotas viz Home State Quota, Other State Quota, and Andhra Pradesh State Quota.
  • 51 % of total seats fall under General Category
  • 27% for OBC, 15% for SC and 7.5% for SC and 3% for PwD aspirants

  • Vacant home state quota seats are converted to All India Seats for the mentioned category.
  • In NITs, 50% seats are reserved under Home State Quota and rest 50% under Other State Quota.
  • 5% of total seats reserved for women aspirants in all participating institutes. Also, there is exemption in application fees while filling up JEE Main Application

Reservation for Women 

  • For instance, there are colleges which provide relaxation to girls in terms of percentage of marks. So, if the cut off is somewhere around 98% for a particular seat/course, a girl can apply for the same seat at around 93%.
  • A female aspirant can apply under All India Level or Women Quota System since most of the colleges recater5 % seats for female aspirants.
  • If facts are to be believed, DTU (Delhi Technological University) some time back introduced a ‘Single Girl Child’ quota and according to the same, the institute has one seat each in all the B.Tech courses reserved for single girl children from Delhi.  
  • For PwD students, the relaxation is approximately a further 3%.

Reservation in State Universities

The reservation criteria of JEE Main in state universities will depend on the reservation criteria followed by the state. Aspirants in state universities will be divided on the basis of whether they belong to that state or some other state.

Home State QuotaAspirants of JEE Main who have passed class XII from a particular state and have completed the examination will come under home state quota. These aspirants will get preference in admission to the institutes of that state as compared to those who are from other states.
Other State QuotaThis includes JEE Main aspirants who are applying from other states and union territories, apart from the home state.

NITs Reservation Policy

In NITs, 50% seats are reserved under Home State Quota and rest 50% under Other State Quota

  • Home State Quota(HS Quota)-  Aspirants who have passed class 12th from state where the institute is located falls under HS Quota
  • Other State Quota (OS Quota)- Aspirants belonging to states other than Home state falls under OS Quota

For Union Territories which do not have an NIT, the home state quota would be eligible for the following institutes:-

How to claim reservation for JEE Main 2018?

  • It is compulsory to mention category and its details in JEE Main 2018 Application Form.
  • If an aspirant does not offer the need documents - they will be considered under the unreserved category.
  • Current the relevant and valid certificates for verification at the time of Counseling.

Documents need for JEE Main 2018 Reservation

SC, ST, OBC and Pwd aspirants need to produce original certificate allotted by the competent authority at the time of Seat Issuement Procedure as well as at the time of admission.

Frequently Ask Question

Ques-1 Is there any reservation for ex-serviceman grandsons in NITs?

Ans-1 No. There is no reservation of seats for grandsons of ex-servicemen in NITs. As per GOI rules, aspirants belonging to OBC, SC, ST and PwD categories are only admitted to seats reserved based on relaxed criteria.

Ques-2 Whether dyslexic students are applicable for pwd quota in JEE main?

Ans-2 No, dyslexic aspirants will not be counted under PwD category as per JEE Main Reservation Criteria. Aspirants with blindness or low vision, hearing impairment and locomotor disability or cerebral palsy with an at least of 40 percent of physical defect or deformity is only applicable.

  • NOTE: The entrance exam fee for JEE paper I Offline examination is Rs.1000/- for boys and Rs.500/- for Girls belonging to General and OBC Categories. For SC/ST/PWD categories, the fee for boys is Rs.500/- and for girls is Rs.500/-. In case the candidates apply for the computer based examination then the fee for boys from General and OBC groups are is Rs.500/- and for girls is Rs.250/-. The candidates from SC/ST/PWD categories will have to pay Rs.250/-, common for both girls and boys.
