JEE Main 2018 Counseling Schedule

JEE Main Counselling is a clearly centralized online procedure. Registration for counseling is expected to commence in the first week of July. Registration for JEE Main 2018 Seat Allocation is open only for qualified aspirants. The schedule of JEE Main Counseling is as follows:

JEE Main 2018 is scheduled for April 02, 2018 (offline method) and, April 08 and April 09, 2018 (online method) for admission to different engineering colleges and courses all over the country. JEE Main Result and Scorecard is expected to be declared by CBSE on April 27, 2018.

Step by Step Counseling Process JEE Main 2018

JEE Main Counseling will be organized in the month of July and consist of around six rounds of seat allotment. JoSAA is responsible for allotted seats to 92 participating institutes, which include NITs, IIITs, and other-GFTIs.

Aspirants qualifying JEE Main 2018 must register themselves online and select their preferred college and course. Issuement of seats will be done online based on the participant’s rank, category, availability of seats and other factors. After the seat allotment, the participants will have to report to their allotted institute for document verification and fee payment. 

Steps involved in JEE Main Counseling and Seat Allocation 2018 Process:

Step 1: Online Registration

  • Click on the link of JoSAA under Official Website and enter JEE Main 2018 Roll Number and Password
  • Verify all the details mentioned by you and click on “Confirm Registration” button
  • Aspirants will find JoSAA Registration Form opened in front, where they obligatory to fill all the need particulars
  • Click on Login button and go via the instructions cautiously and click on “I Agree”
  • Select the Declaration and click on Submit

Step 2: Online Choice Filling and Locking

  • Select the institute, their name, and program applying for.
  • Select choice of colleges and programs.
  • Aspirants have to lock their choices before the last date by clicking on Lock Choice.
  • Choice Locking can be done after each round of JEE Main 2018 Counseling.
  • Aspirants can opt for change/edit/delete their filled choices

Step 3: JoSAA 2018 Seat Allocation

The counseling and seat allocation authority, JoSAA will take into account the following factors before allocating the highest possible seat according to aspirants’ choices:

  • All India Rank (AIR) of the aspirant in JEE Main 2018 rank list(s)
  • Category [GEN, OBC-NCL, SC, etc.] of the aspirant
  • Availability of seats under various seat categories/seat quotas for which the aspirant is applicable.
  • According to the priority order of choices by the aspirants for academic programs and institutes

Aspirants will be informed about Seat Allocation via mail or SMS on their registered email ID and mobile number respectively a few days after Choice Locking. Download the seat allocation letter for future purpose.

Step 4: Seat Acceptance Fee Payment and Verification of the Documents

  • After verification of the documents and payment of the fee, a provisional admission letter will be allotted.
  • All the documents will be verified at the reporting center.
  • Pay the Seat Acceptance fee for the issued seats via Net Banking/e-Challan.

Note: For all the Open Category aspirants, the seat acceptance fee is INR 45,000, while aspirants belonging to SC/ST/SC-PwD/ST-PwD/GEN-PwD/OBC-NCL-PwD categories will have to pay INR 20,000 as the seat acceptance fee.

Step 5: Reporting to the Issued College

The final step in JEE Main 2018 Counseling is reporting to the assigned institutes with original certificates and documents on the issued date and time slot.

FAQs

Ques. Can the choice be filled at the Reporting Center (RC) itself?

Ans. No, choice-filling has to be done online before the date specified. All the rounds of seat allocation will be done on these choices. Document verification and seat acceptance will be done soon after the procedure of choice-filling. After that, there is no option of choice filling or reordering.

Ques. What all procedures take place at Reporting Center (RC)?

Ans. An aspirant who has been provided a seat (as per their choices) will have to report in person at an RC for document verification to accept the seat.

Ques. If I am not interested in the seat provided, can I still participate in seat allocation in further rounds without accepting that seat?

Ans. You must not fill-in the courses that you are not interested to pursue it. If you do not accept the seat, you will be out of the seat allocation procedure and hence, will not be allowed to participate in further rounds.

Ques. Will there be a separate allocation procedure for preparatory courses?

Ans. No, preparatory courses will be issued along with all other courses only. All the qualified aspirants want admission in IITs/NITs/IIITs/Other-GFTIs, must fill-in their choices during the choice filling procedure. Admission to IITs is based on JEE Advanced Score.

Ques. I have been provided a seat in the first round of allocation but will not be able to accept the seat at this moment. Can I accept that same seat later?

Ans. No, if you do not report in person in the respective seat acceptance duration of the round, you will lose the seat and you will be out of the allocation procedure.

Ques. I have paid the seat acceptance fee and wish to not take the seat by not reporting at the situated Reporting Centre. How can I claim my refund?

Ans. Login to JoSAA portal and file your request online, the request will be procedures in a few days. You can claim your refund online.
