JEE Main 2018 Application Form: Registration Closed

JEE Main Registration has now closed. The application forms were available at jeemain.nic.in. from December 1, 2017. All 10+2 engineering candidates should check their eligibility before starting the registration. The registration fee can be paid either by Credit/Debit/Paytm or by depositing fee in cash in the Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC bank via e-challan up till January 2.

Important Instructions for JEE Main Application Process

  1. The online application form was available only in the online method at www.jeemain.nic.in.
  2. It is compulsory to hold an Aadhaar Number.
  3. Keep the need documents handy to avoid last minute rush.
  4. The last date for clear registration was January 1, 2018.
  5. Form correction will begin in the 3rd week of January 2018.
  6. There is no separate application procedure for International Participants

JEE Main 2018 How to Apply?

JEE Form 2018 must be filled clearly in one-go, partly filled applications will not be accepted. Steps for making JEE Main Application are-

JEE Main Registration: At the home page of JEE Main, click on Apply Online link and clear the Authentication Form.

  1. Visit the official website and click on Apply for JEE Main 2018.
  1. Fill the Authentication Form to clear the JEE Main Registration

Fill the Application Form: Enter method of the exam, exam center, question paper medium, category, mark details of class 10 & 12, communication address and phone number. If ready to apply for both the papers, select the option for ‘both papers’ and pay the application fee accordingly.

Uploading Documents: Upload the scanned photograph and signature. Application forms with uncomplete photograph will be rejected. Keep 6-8 identical photographs in reserve for use at the time of the exam, seat allocation and admission. Aspirants applying from reserved category should obtain caste certificates from designated authorities.

Upload the images in the requisite pattern. After uploading the images, preview them and clear the step of JEE Main Application.

Payment of Fees: Pay the fees after verifying all the details from any one of the methods- online or offline.

Download Acknowledgement Page: Aspirants need to take the printout of Acknowledgement Page and keep it for reference. The Acknowledgement Page does not need to be sent to the JEE (Main) Secretariat.

Note: Submit only one application form. Multiple applications from one aspirant will be rejected. 

Successfully registered aspirants can download their JEE Main 2018 hall ticket from the website as per schedule. Aspirants securing qualifying marks will be shortlisted for JEE Advanced.

JEE Main 2018 Registration Fee

Fee payment by money order, demand draft, IPO etc. will result in application form rejection. January 2, 2018 is the last date to pay the fee. Application fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. The application fee is mentioned in the table given below:

In case the examination fee is paid by credit/debit card, aspirants will obligatory to pay an additional procedure charge as following:

  • Credit Card: 1.20% of the fee plus the service tax as eligible.
  • Debit Card: 0.75% + taxes for fee up to INR 2000 and 1% + taxes for the fee more than INR 2000.

Check the status of fee payment at the official website and then take the printout of Acknowledgement Page.

Ques. What should I do if the fee payment status is “not OK”?

Ans. If the fee is paid via e-challan by depositing cash in Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC bank, the aspirant should contact immediately the related bank to update their fee status on the website.  OR

If the fee is paid via credit/debit card and status is not OK, it means the transaction is canceled and the amount will, automatically, be refunded to related credit/debit card within 7 – 10 days. Therefore, such aspirants have to pay the fee once again and ensure the OK fee status.

Ques. I forgot to book test date and slot before paying the fee. What should I do now?

Ans. In this case, your slot will be decided based on the city of the exam. It will be updated according to the available seats in that particular city. 

Ques. Can I pay my fee via Demand Draft?

Ans. No, payment of application fee by DD will not be accepted. If paying offline, you will only have to print the online generated e-challan and pay the fee in cash at Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC bank.

Documents Need for JEE Main 2018

The list of the documents need to submit JEE Main Application Form along with their specifications is given below:

  1. Scanned Photograph- JPEG pattern | 4 kb to 40 kb | 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm  

It should be color or black and white but with complete contrasts with the name of the aspirant and date of taking the photograph printed on it. Spectacles are allowed. It should be without cap or goggles. Polaroid photos are not acceptable.

  1. Scanned Signature- JPEG pattern | 1 kb to 30 kb | 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm  

Documents need to fill JEE Main Application Form

Ans. The details from the following documents have to be filled during application process-

  1. Aadhaar number
  2. Date of Birth (as on class 10 mark sheet)
  3. Class 10 and 12 mark sheets
  4. Caste certificate
  5. Domicile Certificate
  6. Identity proof
  7. Citizenship certificate or passport of both parents

FAQs

Ques. I am appearing in class XII and I haven’t received my roll number, what should I enter while filling the online form?

Ans. It is not compulsory for aspirants appearing for Class 12 roll number option is not compulsory. If it is issued, you may fill it or otherwise leave it empty.

Ques. My surname in Aadhaar Card is wrongly mentioned what should I do?

Ans. For this, you will have to file an application at Aadhaar card center and get it accurate. You can enter the accurate surname.

Ques. I belong to Assam state and don’t have Aadhaar Card. How can I apply for JEE Main 2018?

Ans. You can apply using passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid Govt. identity number.

Ques. How to compress images for uploading the documents?

Ans. The images which are to be uploaded in the application form should be of a definite file size and dimension. By following the procedure given below, you can easily convert any image file into the desired dimension:

  1. Select the image file and right click.
  2. Click on “Open With” and select Paint.
  3. The image will open in Paint window.
  4. Click on the “File” menu in the top left-hand corner of the window.
  5. Select “Properties”.
  6. A small box will open where you can specify/change the width and height of the image. For Photograph it will be 35 mm X 45 mm and for Signature, it will be 80 mm X 35 mm.
  7. Click “OK” and save the image.

Forgot JEE Main Application Number?

If any aspirant forgets the Application Number, they can follow the below steps:

  • Retrieving Password: Go to the website and select “forgot password”. Choose Security Question & its Response you opted while filling the application form. Enter the verification code sent through text message to your Registered Mobile No. and submit to retrieve the password.
  • Retrieving Application Number: The fields comprise some validation information like Name, DOB, Fathers name, mothers name.

  • NOTE: The entrance exam fee for JEE paper I Offline examination is Rs.1000/- for boys and Rs.500/- for Girls belonging to General and OBC Categories. For SC/ST/PWD categories, the fee for boys is Rs.500/- and for girls is Rs.500/-. In case the candidates apply for the computer based examination then the fee for boys from General and OBC groups are is Rs.500/- and for girls is Rs.250/-. The candidates from SC/ST/PWD categories will have to pay Rs.250/-, common for both girls and boys.
