Seat Allocation for NEET will begin after the declaration of Result and the commencement of NEET 2018 Counseling. The seat allocation and counseling will be organizeed in July 2018.

For seat allocation, aspirants must first register online for counseling. Seats will be allotted on the basis of aspirants’ ranks in the NEET and their college preference, as entered in the online counseling form.

The allocation procedure will be organizeed over two rounds. The Provisional Allocation Letter will comprise details like Aspirant’s Name, Roll No., Date of Birth, All India Rank, Category, Name of Institute Allotted and Course allotted.

NEET Seat Allocation 2018: Things to Remember

  • 15% of the seats will be categorized as All India Quota Seats and the remaining 85% as State Quota Seats.
  • AIIMS and JIPMER will not be accepting NEET scores for Counseling and Seat Allocation.
  • The online counseling will be organizeed by MCC (Medical Counseling Committee) and aspirants will need to make an account on their official website.
  • Aspirants will be allotted colleges according to NEET 2018 Cutoff 
  • Counseling for NEET and Seat Allocation will begin in July 2018 and will be organizeed in Online Mode.
  • If aspirants do not report to the allotted college within the stipulated duration, their seat will be passed on to the next aspirant on the list.

Seat Allocation Process for NEET 2018

Seat Allocation will be done on the basis of online counseling for NEET which will be organizeed by MCC.

  1. Open MCC’s official website and click on ‘Aspirant Login’ under ‘Online Services’.
  2. Enter your login credentials like Roll No. and Password and click on ‘Login’.
  3. You will be able to reach your Provisional Allocation Letter which will have details regarding your allotted college.
  4. If you wish for an upgrade, select the option for readiness to participate in second counseling
  5. Aspirants must report to the allotted college within the specified duration. If they fail to claim their seat, their admission stands cancelled and they will not be applicable for further rounds of NEET Counseling.
  6. If All India Quota Seats remain vacant even after the second round of counseling, they will be converted into state quota seats.

Documents Need for Seat Allocation of NEET 2018

For admission into the allotted college, aspirants need to carry the following original documents and attested photocopies of the same.

  • Birth Certificate
  • Class XII Marksheet
  • Category Certificate (if eligible)
  • Proof of Identity
  • Provisional Allocation letter generated online
  • NEET 2018 Result/Rank Letter
  • NEET 2018 Admit card
  • Class X Certificate
  • 8 passport sized photographs (Same as the one affixed on NEET 2018 Application Form)

Seat Allocation under 15% All India Quota

NEET merit list for All India Quota seats will be prepared by CBSE and forwarded to the DGHS (Director General of Health Services). The waiting list will be equal to 4 times the merit list.

15% of the All India Quota Seats are reserved for aspirants from Scheduled Caste category, 27% for OBC (non-creamy layer), 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe and 3% for Physically Handicapped aspirants.

Aspirants with 50%-70% locomotor disability required to produce a disability certificate alloted by any of these 4 medical institutions:

  1. Vardhman Mahavir Medical College, Delhi
  2. All India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Mumbai
  3. Institute of PG Medical Education & Research, Kolkata
  4. Madras Medical College, Chennai

Seat Allocation under State Quota of NEET 2018

For Admission under State Quota, aspirants required to contact the related counseling authorities of their respective states. The following counselling authorities must be contacted by the aspirants for their respective state. Seat Allocation will be done on the basis of the All India Rank given by CBSE.

Ques. When will the NEET Seat Allocation procedure begin?

Ans. The procedure will begin by the end of June.

Ques. How long will the NEET Result be valid?

Ans. NEET Result will be valid for a duration of 1 year i.e. respective academic year.

Ques. Who will organize the counseling procedure for NEET UG?

Ans. It will be organizeed by the MCC. For seats which are under the control of states and universities, the counseling will be organizeed by their representative authorities.

Ques. What are the various quotas under which seats will be provideed via NEET?

Ans. Seats will be provideed via NEET under the following quotas:

  • State Quota/Central Pool Quota Seats

Ques. Who is applicable for NEET All India Quota Counseling?

Aspirants from J&K, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will not be applicable for All India Quota Counseling.

Ques. What is All India Quota Rank?

Ans. Students from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and J&K are not given this rank as they are not applicable to participate in the 15 % All India Quota Counseling. This rank is assigned for the purpose of All India Quota seat allocation.

Ques. I am a student at Telangana presently pursuing in Maharashtra. Am I applicable for 15% All India Quota seats?

Ans. Students from the State of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana or J&K are not applicable for 15% All India Quota seats. No.

Ques. Can students from the States of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana or J&K seek admission in outside states via NEET UG?

Ans. They are only not applicable for the 15% quota. Aspirants from these states can be admitted into a State/ Private/ Deemed college of any state. Yes.

Ques. Are NRIs, PIOs, and OCI category applicants also applicable for the 15% All India Quota?

Ans. Candidates of these categories too will be able to take admission under 15% All India Quota as per merit. Yes.

Ques. What are the reservation criteria for 15% All India Quota seats?

Ans. In 15% All India Quota seats, 15% seats are reserved for SC students, 7.5% for ST, 27% for OBC category participants, and 3% for PH category.

Ques. I have opted for Oriya as the medium of NEET. Will I be applying for the 15% All India quota?

Ans. Candidates who secure the requisite AIR can participate in the counseling under this quota irrespective of the medium of the exam. Yes.

Ques. How to register and fill preference form on the website?

Ans. Participants will have to log on to website www.mcc.nic.in (for 15% All India quota) to register and then fill in choices. It is advised to go via the list of available seats as per your preference of colleges, before attempting to fill choices online and read the user manual cautiously before registration.

Ques. Can I edit the choices during the duration of “Exercising of Choices and Locking” (during 1st round) and “Fresh Choice submission and locking for 2nd round”?

Ans. You can change, add or delete your preferences during this period, before locking your choices. The choices once locked cannot be altered.

Ques. Who is applicable for 2nd Round of seat allocation?

Ans. Students from the following groups are applicable for seat allocation in 2nd Round:

  • Group I: Registered participants who were not allotted any seat in Round 1.
  • Group–III: Students who have reported to allotted institute during 1st Round.
  • Group II: Personal whose seat allotted in Round 1 was cancelled during the document verification, who has secured seat under reserved quota, due to category change from reserved to Unreserved subject to eligibility in changed category will be considered for seat allocation in the next round.

Ques. Which students are not applicable for 2nd Round of allocation?

Ans. The following group of aspirants will not be applicable for Round 2:

  • Reported & withdrawn from counseling at allotted medical college.
  • Not reported to the allotted college during reporting duration of allocation in 1st Round
  • Not applicable due to change of category.
  • Have not chosen for upgradation during 2nd Round.

Ques. Is it necessary to join allotted Medical College for participating in next round of counselling?

Ans. Yes. Personals have to first join allotted college and clear the admission formalities and then only they can practice option to participate in the next round.

Ques. If I opt to participate in the 2nd round of counseling, will my allotted seat (of 1st round) be cancelled?

Ans. However if you secure a seat in the 2nd round, the previous allotted seat will automatically be cancelled and given to another participant. If you are not allotted any seat in the 2nd round, you will retain the seat allotted previous.

Ques. What are the guidelines for fresh choice filling before 2nd Round of online allocation procedure?

Ans. If a seat is allotted in 2nd round from the choices filled in by the student before the 2nd Round of Counselling, the seat allotted during the 1st round will be cancelled. Hence, candidates are not need to fill up seat which is already allotted to them in their choices for 2nd Round.

Ques. If my seat is upgraded in the same college, because of category change (from SC, ST to UR category), do I have to take admission for the allotted seat again?

Ans. You will have to get an online relieving letter for the previous seat and then get an admission letter again for the upgraded category seat from the respective medical college. Yes.

Ques. How much time will I be given to join the Institute allotted to me?

Ans. You will have to join the allotted medical/ dental institute within stipulated time as mentioned in the schedule.

Ques. In case I get an upgraded seat during the 2nd round, can I join that college straight?

Ans. No. You will have to obtain an online relieving letter from the previous institute before you join the next college.

Ques. If some new seats are created/ started after the start of online counseling, when will these be comprised?

Ans. Newly created/ sanctioned seats that were not comprised in 1st Round due to certain circumstances after the round began, will be comprised in the 2nd Round on receiving information from participating colleges before this round starts.

Ques. If the sufficient number of qualified PH participants are not there then what will happen to the vacant seats reserved for PH aspirants?

Ans. These vacant seats will be reverted to the respective categories during the 2nd Round of allocation after procedureing choices to PH category students.

Ques. Where should I obtain the PH certificate from?

Ans. The PH certificates should be obtained only from the following institutes-

  • Institute of PG Medical Education & Research, Kolkata.
  • Madras Medical College, Chennai.
  • All India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Mumbai
  • Vardhman Mahavir Medical College & Safdarjang Hospital, New Delhi.

Ques. My daughter is interested in an all-girls college. Is there any medical college only for Girls?

Ans. There are 2 medical colleges exclusively for Girls viz. Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi and BPS Govt. Medical College, Sonepat.

Ques. How will the states prepare the State Merit list?

Ans. Each state will prepare its own merit list based on the AIR secured by aspirants and the category they belong to.

Ques. How can I register for State counseling?

Ans. You should log on to your respective state medical counseling website and fill the online form so as to participate in the counseling procedure.

Ques. What is the reservation criteria for seats under the jurisdiction of states?

Ans. It will be as per state reservation policy.
