Xavier School of Management (XLRI) is one of the most prestigious B-school of our country situated in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. Applicable aspirants can take admission in these courses via Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) - an entrance exam organized by XLRI. The Institute provides full-time residential MBA, Research Program, Masters Program and Executive Program.
Apart from serving as a gateway for XLRI, the score of XAT examination is also considered for admission by more than 150 B-schools all across India. This also comprises B-schools which are part of Xavier Associate Management Institutes (XAMI).
Dates for the events concerned to the exam shall be made available once the official notification for the exam is announced by XLRI. However to give a rough idea of events we have listed the tentative dates for important events pertaining to the examination.

Aspirants applying for XAT 2018 will have to wait until September 2017 to fill the application form. The steps for the same are mentioned below: The form can be filled only online.
Aspirants have three options or modes via which they can make the payment.
Aspirants who are appearing for XAT 2018 but are not interested in XLRI have to pay registration fees of INR 1600. Aspirants who are appearing for XAT 2018 and also seek admission in one of the courses of XLRI required to pay an additional amount of INR 300 each.
Once the form is filled and submitted successfully a confirmation page is generated. Aspirants have to send the confirmation page along with the demand draft to the address mentioned below:

XAT 2018 Hall Ticket shall be made available from mid-December 2017. It is the duty of an participant to download the hall ticket when it is available. Note that XLRI does not send hall ticket through courier or email.
Given below are the steps to download the hall ticket:
Admit card contains aspirant’s details such as registration number, name and guardian’ s name. The hard copy of the hall ticket must be shown at the examination center on the da the of examination. Failing to do so will result in termination of aspirant’s attempt. Name and address of the examination center will be given in the hall ticket along with the date of the exam. Aspirants are encouraged to verify the details in the hall ticket for any discrepancy.

As mentioned already, XAT examination is organizeed offline. The pen and paper based examination will be organizeed in English medium. The exam consists of two papers.
Paper 1: There are 78 questions in this paper. 0.05 mark will be deducted in case aspirants doesn’t attempt more than 13 questions The allotted time for completion of Paper 1 is 170 minutes. Each accurate response is honored 1 mark. There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong response. All the questions are objective type.
Paper 1 is subsequently divided into 3 parts. The distribution of questions in XAT Exam Format for Paper 1 is given below:

Paper 2: It includes objective type questions as well as subjective. Questions will be asked from general knowledge and essay writing. General Knowledge will have 25 questions of one mark each and an essay of 10 marks.
XAT 2018 Syllabus includes four main subjects namely, General Knowledge, Quantitative Analysis, Logical Reasoning and Essay writing. The detailed syllabus is given below:
Based on the score of XAT examination, aspirants are shortlisted for subsequent rounds. They are Group Discussion and Interview. Further two rounds are held.
Shortlisted aspirants are divided into groups of 8-15. All groups are need to discuss on a topic usually for 15-20 minutes. The topics are generally concerned to present affairs, politics, social issues such as women’s rights and emancipation, or any other issue concerning advertising, technology, education or business in India.
Aspirants are need to appear for the individual interview of XAT 2018 if they get shortlisted on the basis of their performance in Group Discussion.

XAT 2018 Result is tentatively scheduled to be released in the last week of January 2018. The result released will list the shortlisted aspirants for subsequent rounds.
Counseling shall begin after the result of XAT 2018 is released. Aspirants will be admitted to these institutes on the basis of XAT cut off, scores obtained in the GD/PI round and the final merit list prepared for all the successful aspirants. There is no centralized counseling procedure and aspirants will have to personally apply for each Member Institutes of XAMI with their XAT 2018 score.
Cut Off for the exam varies in accordance with the number of participants, the difficulty level of question paper and the judgment of organizing the committee. To give an inkling about the cut off, we have listed the cut off for XAT 2016 examination.
