WBJEE is organized for admission to undergraduate engineering, architecture and pharmacy courses provided by affiliated colleges under WBJEEB (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board). The syllabus of WBJEE includes topics from Class XI and XII standard. The level of questions asked in the exam is moderate with only a few surprises. The syllabus for each subject has been summarized below:

- WBJEE Syllabus for Mathematics: This section will include of 75 questions for 100 marks. There are 23 important topics to be prepared from.
- WBJEE Syllabus for Physics: This section will include 40 questions from 20 important topics. The level of difficulty will range from moderate to hard. Total marks for this section is 50.
- WBJEE Syllabus for Chemistry: This section will include 40 questions from 17 important topics. Total marks for this section will be 50. It will be a mixture of difficult and easy questions.

**WBJEE 2018** is expected to be scheduled in an offline method for March 2018. The notification followed by invitation of applications at wbjeeb.nic.in will commence from December 2017. The application window will stay live at wbjeeb.nic.in until the first week of February 2018. Let’s take a quick look at the syllabus and important topics of each section of WBJEE exam.

Physics is unanimously considered as the stream of science concerned with attributes and properties of matter and energy. WBJEEB expects aspirants to have earned the basic understanding of Physics as the subject before applying for the exam. The core ideology of physics comprises mechanics, heat, light and other radiation, sound, electricity, magnetism, and the structure of atoms.

Here is a detailed look at the WBJEE 2018 Syllabus for Physics. It is expected that the section will be merged with chemistry and will be asked a single section in WBJEE

A strategy to approach the exam is of utmost importance. Since Physics is one of the sections asked in the exam, it would be suggested to students to pay proper attention to the topics asked in the exam according to their priority as mentioned in the table above. For WBJEE 2018, aspirants are advised to begin their preparation right away.

Following are few experts’ idea about preparing for WBJEE Physics:

**Exercise Papers:**Solving exercise papers regularly keeping in mind all the rules and regulations including time limit involved in the exam would surely prepare you for the exam day.**Wall Posters of formulae:**Physics is one of the subjects that involve a lot of hefty calculations in addition to a lot of formulae. Remembering the important formulae would surely help the aspirants reduce their time involved with each question by a tenth.**Handbook:**Handbook is a pocket-sized notebook that includes all the important points, formulae, units, constants concerned to the subject.

Chemistry is considered to be the discipline of science that unravels matter and its composition including the investigation of their properties and reactions. Like physics, aspirants appearing for WBJEE 2018 are expected to have the basic understanding of Chemistry at the secondary level. It also studies the use of such reactions to form new substances.

As a study, chemistry helps to disintegrate every aspect of everything there is in the universe and understand how it was created from a single unit or entity.

Take a quick look at the topics to help understand the section a little better for WBJEE 2018

Most Important | Less Important | Topics of less importance |
---|---|---|

Periodic Table | Inorganic Chemistry | Dalton’s Atomic Theory |

Chemical Kinetics | Alkanes, Alkenes, Alkynes | Atomic Mass |

Molar Chemistry | SN1 and SN2 Reactions | Avogadro's Hypothesis |

Markownikoff’s and anti-Markownikoff’s additions | Aromatic Compounds | Chemical Equations |

Like Physics, aspirants are advised to prepare thoroughly for the subject. Since Chemistry involves a lot of equations and theorems and principles, it is recommended to the aspirants to have the better understanding of the concepts of Chemistry and everything that it includes of.

**Organic Chemistry:**Organic Chemistry is often considered as a subject of its own. The area of application of Organic Chemistry is growing with days. It would be recommended to the students to prepare a plan for the section and prepare accordingly. Keep in mind that your plan should comprise exercise questions and mock papers.**Physical Chemistry:**The section of Physical Chemistry includes topics that involve calculations and a lot of formulae. Keep a handbook and solve as many questions as possible.**Inorganic Chemistry:**Inorganic chemistry is relatively easy as compared to other two sections, organic chemistry, and inorganic chemistry. The section deals with subject matter and their properties standalone and when made in contact with other matter

Mathematics is considered as a discipline of science concerned with number, quantity, Space, and matter. Mathematics is the most important aspect involved in engineering studies.

Apart from being the most important, mathematics is also one of the toughest sections to be asked in the exam of WBJEE 2018. Understanding its syllabus and picking out your favorite topic to prepare would be best

Most Important Topics | Important Topics | Topics of less importance |

Mathematics is undoubtedly fear of most of the students appearing for the exam. Here’s are some tips concerned about the exam that would help you reduce the stress and pressure put upon by Mathematics and concerned topics:

- Trigonometry Formulae: It is very important to remember and understand all the trigonometry formulae by heat. In addition to remembering it, you must also understand how it came to be starting from the theories universally known.
- Exercise Papers: The only key to excel at any exam or a test such as
**WBJEE 2018**is to exercise. Pick up any MCQ book and make it your habit to exercise until the day of the exam.

WBJEE 2018 will be organized for a total of 200 marks. Physics and Chemistry, each holds a weight of 40 questions for a collective total of 100 marks. The total period of the exam will be same as earlier years i.e. 4 hours. Mathematics, the major section of the exam, as per trends hold the maximum weight of 75 questions.

In Category I, 1 mark will be honored for each accurate response option, while 0.25 mark will be deducted for the inaccurate answer. Marking more than one response option in the OMR sheet will be treated as inaccurate response and 0.25 mark will be deducted for the same.

In Category 2, 2 marks will be honored for each accurate response, while 0.25 marks will be deducted for the wrong response.

In Category 3 questions, more than 1 options may or may not be correct. Aspirants will be honored full marks i.e., 2 marks if they mark all the right responses. For partially accurate answers without any inaccurate marking, the following formulae will be used to award marks = 2 X (no of accurate answers)/ (total no of accurate options). No negative marking for inaccurate responses.
