TNEA 2018 Application Form will be announced by Anna University online from May, 2018 onwards. TNEA registration will continue tentatively until the last week of May, 2018. Aspirants must fulfill the certain eligibility criteria in order to be applicable for applying for TNEA 2018.

  • All the information entered in the application form must be to the best of aspirant’s knowledge.
  • It is necessary for all the participants to fill TNEA 2018 Application Form via the online method and submit it to the authority within a specified time.
  • Incomplete or inaccurate application form if detected is liable to rejection
  • The application fee is charged as per the category of aspirants.
  • TNEA application form registration involves methods namely: registration, entering individual details, remittance of the application fee, in addition to printing of the application form and submission of the same.
  • The submission of the application form will be done offline at the address of the authority.

TNEA or Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions is organized for aspirants wishing to pursue Engineering degree in institutes belonging to Tamil Nadu. Anna University, Chennai is the body that will be organizing the admission procedure.

Eligibility Criteria for TNEA 2018

The qualifying criteria for TNEA depend on the number of factors mentioned below. The eligibility is also determined on the basis of the streams of engineering to which aspirants are interested to apply. The eligibility conditions are said below:


  • Aspirants of other states who have studied VIII, IX, X, XI, and XII in Tamil Nadu are entitled to apply. “Nativity Certificate” is not required. 
  •  Aspirants who have passed any of the VIII, IX, X, XI and XII Standard or equivalent examination from schools located outside Tamil Nadu but are inhabitants of Tamil Nadu can apply. A copy of Nativity Certificate in electronic form or digitally signed e-Certificate must be produced.
  • Wards of Central Government Employees can also apply for irrespective of their resident, offered their parents (in case both parents are not living) have been working in Tamil Nadu for consecutive past FIVE YEARS at the time of submission of application. A copy of a certificate from the office of that guardian should be enclosed with the application form. 
  • Children of All India service Tamil Nadu cadre officers can also apply. 
  • Aspirants Tamil Nadu who has qualified VIII, IX, X, XI, and XII Standard exam in Tamil Nadu are applicable. Nativity Certificate in such cases is not necessary. 
  • Offspring of employees in Public Sector during the submission of application form admission employed in Tamil Nadu for the successive past five years can apply irrespective of their domicile. A certificate from the parent’s office like Income Tax return, PF Slips, etc. have to be enclosed with the application mentioning that the person is a Permanent Employee of the related office or firm.

 Applications without Nativity Certificate for certain categories and proper employer certificate will be rejected

Sri Lankan Tamil Refugee 

According to the G.O. (St) No. They have to submit the following documents:  dated: 29.06.2010 aspirants who are Srilankan Tamil Refugee but pursuing in Tamil Nadu are permitted under open competition. 172 Higher Education (J2) Dept.

(i) Identification certificate from the Head Quarters Tahsildar. 

(ii) Those who have no registration record in the refugee camp should submit a copy of passport, visa, and letter registered with the local Police Station. 

Qualifying Examinations and Eligibility 

To get qualified in the HSC or equivalent exam with minimum an average percentage of marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

Note:  As per the latest notification allocated by the Government of India it states that, for studying Marine Engineering Degree Course, aspirants should pass 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English with an average of 60 %. Furthermore, an at least of 50% in English either at Class X or Class XII is the need.

TNEA 2018 How to fill Application Form

Aspirants should keep in mind that application with inaccurate information will be rejected by the exam authority. TNEA 2018 application form filling process involved the following steps: Thus, it is suggested to keep all the information handy before beginning the process of application form filling. If any aspirant fails to submit the clear application form along with fee before the mentioned time then he/she will not be allowed to participate in the counselling session.

Step 1: Registration

  • An OTP will be generated and sent to the registered mobile number.
  • Enter the OTP (One Time Password) and click the ‘Register’ tab.
  • Click on the link
  • Once the application form window appears on your screen enter the need information: name, date of birth, gender, mobile number, email id, registration number and passing year of 10+2 level.
  • Now create a password for security reasons.

Step 2: Form Filling

After successful completion of the registration aspirants will be automatically redirected to the login page. Post that he/she can select either ‘SAVE AND LOGOUT’ option or ‘SAVE AND PREVIEW option. The former options allow aspirants to make modifications in the application form. In this page aspirant required to fill in all the information details as asked in the application form.

Once the ‘print’ option is clicked no changes can be made on the application form. Check all the details before printing it out. Though the application reference number will be printed on the application form still it is recommended to note it down for future reference.

Step 3: Remittance of Application Fee

Application forms will not be accepted without the submission of the application fee. Application fee can be submitted both online (Credit Card/Debit card/ Net Banking) or offline. In case of both online and offline payments, bank charges will be eligible along with the fees.

Step 4: Taking print out of the Application Form

Once all the formalities are done the application form is willing to print. As the forms are to be submitted offline the filled application form is required to be print. It is suggested that participants should keep an application hardcopy with them too for future references.

TNEA 2018 FAQs

Q: What are the web browsers that support TNEA 2018 Application Form?

Response: The official web portal of the application form supports all of the famous browsers. The only older version of the Internet Explorer cannot be used.

Q: Is it compulsory to note down the Application Number?

Response: The application number should be noted till the counselling process. The counselling call letter, rank list, random number, and application status are all concerned to the application number.

Q: How to recover the password in case it lost?

Response: Click the ‘forgot password’ option on the login page to reset the password. You just required entering the email ID, date of birth, mobile number and verification code.

Q: What if after the payment is done and the receipt is not generated?

Response: In spite of the payment is done and the receipt is generated no required of paying again. Just email the details of payment confirmation.
