Paper Analysis of TISSNET 2018

  • There was no specific sectional cut-off. Therefore, one can say that the paper format remained the same throughout the sections.
  • The paper was considered much easier than the earlier years by experts.
  • There were three sections in the paper viz. General Awareness (40 Questions), Logical Reasoning & Mathematics (30 questions), and English (30 questions).
  • TISS NET 2018 was organizeed on January 6. It had 100 questions.

TISSNET 2018 Section-wise Analysis

General Awareness

  • Most of the questions in this section were from present affairs.
  • The questions were primarily concerned with socio-political issues.
  • In a comparatively easy paper, the toughest of all the sections was General Awareness.
  • A score of 27 to 30 out of 40 would be an ideal score for this section.

Logical Reasoning, Mathematics, and Data Interpretation

  • A score of 25 to 27 out of 30 was a good score in this section.
  • The verbal logic questions were trickier than the rest.
  • These three sections had a total of 30 questions with 14 analytical reasoning, 1 verbal logic, 7 Mathematics and 8 Data Interpretation questions.
  • In mathematics, mostly arithmetic questions with strong, analytical skills were asked. However, on the difficulty level, these were easy-moderate.
  • The rest of the questions were moderately easier comparatively.
  • The Data Interpretation section was mostly graphs and pie charts. Comprehensive calculations were required to solve these.
  • Lengthy and time-consuming mathematical puzzles and sequences were part of the other Logical Reasoning questions.

Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension

  • There were questions on synonym, antonym, one-word substitution, idioms, odd-one-out, and proverbs.
  • Commonly used words and idioms that were asked were much easier when compared to the ones in 2016.
  • The Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension sections had 25 questions in total.
  • The grammar questions mostly included common confusable terms.
  • Just like in 2017, vocabulary questions establish most space in this section in 2018 too.
