SSC JE (Staff Selection Commission Juniour Engineers) Application Form 2018

SSC JE 2018 Application Form will have to be filled by aspirants online. The application forms will be available from the 2nd week of September 2017. Aspirants with a bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical or electrical engineering are applicable to apply for SSC JE exam.

  • Aspirants who qualify Part-1 will be applicable for appearing in Part-2.
  • Aspirants will be shortlisted according to their performance in Part-1 and Part-2.
  • The exam is divided into two stages, which are Part-1 and Part-2.

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) organizes SSC JE (Staff Selection Commission Junior Engineers) examination. Aspirants appearing for this examination are appointed for the post of Junior Engineers and Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted posts by the Commission.

Dates for SSC JE Application Form 2018

Aspirants must note that the application for SSC JE 2018 can only be done online only and no other offline method of registration would be available or eligible. The following table lists the important dates that are important to SSC JE and aspirants required to keep these in mind while applying for SSC JE 2018.

Eligibility Criteria of SSC JE 2018

Aspirants will be applicable to apply for SSC JE 2018 based on three broad categories - their Nationality, their Educational Qualification and their Age.

NationalityA aspirant has to be a citizen of India or any one from the following to be applicable for SSC JE 2018:
  • Subject to Nepal
  • A person of Indian origin migrated from Burma or East African countries of Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania, Malawi, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Zambia, Zaire or Vietnam to be a permanent resident of India
  • Subject to Bhutan
  • Tibetan refugees who came to India before 1st January 1962 to be permanent residents
Educational QualificationEligibility based on aspirants’ educational qualification will be various for each various position that aspirant applies for.
  • Junior Engineer (Civil), MES – B.E. / B.Tech. in Civil Engineering or 3 years Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognised University or Institute of repute and with 2 years of work experience in civil engineering works
  • Junior Engineer (Civil), Department of Posts – B.E. / B.Tech. / 3 years Diploma in Civil engineering from a recognised University or Institute of repute
  • Junior Engineer (Civil), CPWD – B.E. / B.Tech. / Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognised University or Institute of repute
  • Junior Engineer (QS&C), MES – B.E. / B.Tech. / 3 years Diploma in Civil engineering from a recognized University or Institute of repute or Passed Intermediate examination in Building and Quantity Surveying (Sub Divisional-II) from the Institute of Surveyors (India)
  • Junior Engineer (Electrical), Department of Posts- B.E. / B.Tech. / 3 years Diploma in Electrical engineering from a recognised University or Institute of repute
  • Junior Engineer (Civil & Mechanical), Central Water Commission – B.E. / B.Tech. / Diploma in Civil/Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University or Institute of repute
  • Junior Engineer (Electrical), CPWD – B.E. / B.Tech. / Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University or Institute of repute
  • Junior Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical), MES – B.E. / B.Tech. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or 3 years Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognised University or Institute of repute and with 2 years work experience in electrical or mechanical engineering works
AgeStaff Selection Commission has completely mentioned the upper and lower age limits for SSC JE on their official website. Aspirants must follow these to avoid their application from being rejected:
  • For the post of Junior Engineer (Civil, Electrical & Mechanical), MES aspirant’s age should be a maximum of 30 years
  • For the post of Junior Engineer (Civil and Electrical), Department of Post and Junior Engineer (Surveying and contract), MES aspirant’s age should be a at least of 18 years and a maximum of 27 years
  • For the post of Junior Engineer (Civil, Electrical and Mechanical), Central Water Commission and CPWD aspirant’s age should be a maximum of 32 years
Aspirants must note that age relaxation in terms of the upper age limit for reserved category aspirants will be eligible as per the reservation rules of the Government.

Application Form for SSC JE 2018

Registration Prerequisites

Before starting with the registration procedure, aspirants must see to it that they have the following willing to avoid any hassle during application:

  • Credit card/ Debit card/ Net Banking details in case aspirant is opting for online payment
  • A valid, working email ID
  • The accurate equivalent percentage of qualifying marks if aspirant’s qualifying exam had grade/CPGA
  • Any past work experience details requireded for the post aspirant is applying for
  • A scanned image of aspirant’s signature with dimensions as specified
  • A scanned version of a passport size photo with dimensions as specified

Filling out the Application Form for SSC JE 2018  

Aspirants can fill up SSC JE 2018 Application Form online. They required to follow the steps listed below to clear their application procedure.

Step 1: Aspirants will have to visit the official SSC JE website www.ssconline.nic.in. In case they face any problem, they can visit www.ssconline2.gov.in.

Step 2: Aspirants will now have to register with a valid email id and password.

Step 3: Aspirants will now have to fill in all individual and academic details as asked in the application form.

Step 4: Aspirants will now have to upload a recent passport size photograph and a scanned copy of their signature.

Guidelines for Photograph and Signature

Aspirants have to upload a scanned image of his/her passport size photograph and signature as per the need specifications set by SSC JE organizeing body. The scanner resolution should be set to a at least of 200 dpi (dots per inch) for the best results.

  • Size of file should be between 4 kb to 12 kb.
  • Caps, hats and dark glasses are not acceptable. Religious headwear is allowed however it must not cover aspirant’s face.
  • In case a aspirant is wearing spectacles, he/she must make sure that there is no reflection on the glasses and their eyes can be seen completely.
  • Aspirants required to upload a recently clicked passport size photograph, It should be a coloured image and clicked against a light-coloured or white background
  • Aspirants must note that squint-eyed photos will not be accepted.
  • Dimensions of the picture should be 100 x 120 pixels.
  • Aspirants must ensure that the image is a front-faced photo. Angular photos and images with red eye will not be accepted.
  • File pattern should be strictly in .jpg.

Signature Image

  • The file pattern should strictly be in .jpg.
  • The dimensions of the signature image should be 140 x 60 pixels only.
  • The signature should be done on white paper in black inked pen only.
  • The signature will be used to put on SSC JE Admit Card and other places where necessary.
  • The size of file should be between 1 kb and 12 kb.

Step 5: Aspirants will now have to pay the application fee. Aspirants can pay the fee either online via credit card, debit card or net banking or via offline method with an eChallan.

Step 6: There will be 2 parts in the application procedure. Aspirants who have filled Part 1 and have paid the application fee will be able to proceed to Part 2 of the application procedure.

Step 7: Aspirants will have to click on the Submit button to clear their application procedure. Aspirants are advised to thoroughly check all details before submitting the form because no changes will be allowed after that.

Application Fee 

Aspirants applying for SSC JE 2018 will have to pay the application fee for their application to be deemed valid. Aspirants can pay the fee either online via credit card, debit card or net banking or via offline method with an eChallan.

The application fee is ₹ 100. Women, ex-servicemen and other reserved category aspirants are exempted from paying this application fee.


Application Form Correction for SSC JE 2018

Aspirants can expect that it will be allowed to edit their application form for a limited duration of time. It can be done by logging in with aspirant’s login ID and password. Aspirants must note that once they have paid the application fee, SSC JE online form cannot be edited. They can however not exceed three courses. After completing the payment, aspirants can also add additional courses of their choice by paying an additional amount of same fee.
