XAT 2018 was successfully organized on January 7. After the exam, aspirants are naturally eager to know what will be their probable XAT score.
To the rescue of students, CollegeDunia.com has come up with an exclusive data-driven unique tool for predicting a test taker's rank in XAT 2018. XAT Rank Predictor by CollegeDunia is an online tool that allows you to calculate your estimated XAT Rank, what Percentile you are likely to get on basis of your performance in the exam and hence your overall performance in Xavier Aptitude Test.
The XAT Rank depends on the following factors:
Aspirants can check their XAT Rank/ Percentile via the following steps:
Let's say that out of 100 questions, you have responded 60 questions correctly and 20 questions were response wrong. This means the unattempted questions by you is 20.
According to the XAT 2018 marking scheme, all questions carry equal marks. 1/4 mark will be deducted for each inaccurate answer. In the examination, aspirants have a choice of not attempting 12 questions. Beyond this, any un-attempted question will carry the negative mark of 0.05.
Hence, the calculation will be as follows:
1 accurate response= 1*1= 1
1 wrong response=1*-0.25=-0.25
This implies,
60*1 =60 (score for your accurate responses)
20*(-0.25) =-5 (for your wrong answers)
8*(-0.05) = - 0.4 (for unattempted questions)
This gives your Total score= 54.6
Now, we obligatory to calculate the expected rank. This calculation is comparatively difficult. So, let’s suppose your total score i.e. 54.6 be ‘x’.
After that, based on a database of 10000 students’ XAT score of last year, this will be arranged in decreasing order and compared on important ranks like 100, 500, 1000, 1500 and so on. These ranks are then segregated in rank slabs such as 1-100, 101-200, 201-300 and so on.
To predict your rank, the difficulty level for each subject in earlier years is taken into consideration. Suppose the difficulty factor for the year 2017 was 'y'.
Let y = 1.018
Hence, your Normalized Score is
N= x*y
N= 54.6*1.018
= 55.5828
This final score determines your rank prediction. The score is then checked with the rank slab it falls in.
At this point, the 'category' of the aspirant is also taken into consideration.
The trend of Category Rank is then compared with respect to the combined rank of all the categories. The final Rank of the aspirant is then calculated from the database of 10000 students.
The final results will display the expected rank of the aspirant. If the rank falls under the rank applicable for admission, the results section will also display the names of top 3 colleges where the aspirant can get possible admission for reference.
