NIFT Exam Pattern 2019

NIFT or National Institute of Fashion Technology is a premier institute providing undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the field of Design and Fashion Technology. Aspirants can seek admission to different campuses of NIFT in the country by completing NIFT entrance exam.

NIFT 2019 exam is scheduled to be held in the second week of February 2019. Aspirants can admit themselves into courses such as B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M, B.Des and M.Des courses based on their performance in NIFT 2019 exam. As per NIFT 2019 Exam Format, the paper is held in offline method and organized in 5 stages.

Aspirants must qualify each stage of the exam separately in order to get admission in the course of his/her choice. No marks will be deducted for wrong responses. B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M, course obligatory to be finished in 3 hours period whereas, for B.Des and M.Des course, the exam is 2 hours period. The question paper will be available in English language only.

Questions in the paper will be asked from Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability, General Knowledge and Present Affairs, English Comprehension, Problem Solving approach, Discernment Ability and Power of Observation. Exam Format for NIFT 2019 in Detail

NIFT 2019 Exam Format includes GAT, CAT, Group Discussion and Individual Interview. The Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses provided by NIFT are Bachelor of Design (B.Des), Master of Design (M.Des), Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech), Master of Fashion Technology (M.F.Tech) and Master of Fashion Management (MFM).

General Ability Test or GAT is a written test for all the 5 courses provided by NIFT. Participants who completed both the written tests will be applicable for Situation Test followed by Group Discussion/ Individual Interview. After completing GAT, B.Des and M.Des students are need to qualify CAT. GAT is the first test for selection for B.Des and M.Des courses. GAT is the only selection test for B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, and MFM.

NIFT 2018 Examination Format is explained in detail below:

  • For B.Des and M.Des, GAT exam is 2 hours. On the other hand, B.F.Tech, MFM & M.F.Tech, GAT exam is for 3 hours.
  • GAT & CAT written exams will be organized for M.Des and B.Des courses. Whereas, for B.F.Tech, MFM & M.F.Tech only GAT will be organized.
  • The paper will be in English language only
  • GAT examination is organized in the offline method only.
  • There is no negative marking for inaccurate responses.
  • For B.F.Tech, MFM & M.F.Tech, 150 questions will be asked.
  • For B.Des, total 100 questions will be asked in GAT and for M.Des 120 questions will be asked.

Quantitative Ability: Addition, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Percentage, Rate of Interest, Work & Task, Ratio & Proportion, and Distance

Communication Ability and English Comprehension: Synonyms, antonyms, words with corresponding meanings, singular, plural, one-word substitutes, idioms & phrases, accurate spellings

Important Instructions for NIFT 2019

Students are advised to go via the following instructions before appearing in the examination:

  • All the electronic devices such as Mobile Phones, Pagers, and Bluetooth etc. are not allowed inside the examination center.
  • They should access the examination hall before the commencement of the exam.
  • Without NIFT Hall Ticket, students cannot appear for the exam
  • Students should start solving earlier year papers and mock tests.
  • Jewellery, watches, belts and other ornaments are also not allowed inside the examination hall.
  • Aspirants must carry the printout of NIFT Hall Ticket 2019 along with the printout of original identity card.
  • A valid photo ID proof comprises College ID card, Passport, Driving License, Aadhar Card, Voter ID Card, PAN card etc.
