NID 2019 is national level entrance exam organized by National Institute of Design for different Under Graduate and Post Graduate design courses scheduled to take place in January 2019. Check major highlights of NID 2019 exam below.  The exam will be of 3 hours with subjective and objective type questions. All candidates for NID DAT 2019 can fill the application form online on the official website, i.e.

  • NID DAT 2019 Application Form will be available tentatively from October 2018 in the online mode.
  • Aspirants can pay the application fee through online and offline mode.
  • NID 2019 is a 3-hour exam comprising both subjective and objective type questions. Check NID Exam Format 2019 
  • For M.Des program, aspirants must not be more than 30 years.
  • Aspirants qualifying the Prelims round will be applicable to appear for Mains exam.
  • For B.Des and GDPD program aspirants must not be more than 20 years of age.
  • NID will announce separate hall tickets for both Prelims and Mains round.

Aspirants appearing for NID DAT get admission in NID Ahmedabad, NID Gujarat, NID Bangalore, NID Kurukshetra and NID Vijayawada (Diploma courses). After completing NID DAT Prelims round, selected aspirants will have to appear for Studio Test round and Individual Interview round.

Eligibility Criteria for NID 2019

The eligibility conditions for both Under Graduate and Post Graduate level programs are tabulated below.

B. Des. & GDPD
  • Not more than 23 years as on June 30, 2019, for SC/ST/OBC-NCL aspirants.
  • Not more than 25 years as on June 30, 2019, for Indian PWD aspirants.
  • Not more than 20 years as on June 30, 2019, for General aspirants and Foreign Nationals
Academic QualificationSuccessfully finished or appearing for 10+2 examination or equivalent from any recognized Board.
M. Des
  • Not more than 30 years as on June 30, 2019 for General aspirants and Foreign Nationals
  • Not more than 35 years as on January 19 for Indian PWD aspirants.
  • Not more than 33 years as on 30 June 2019 for SC/ST/OBC-NCL aspirants.
Academic Qualification
  • Participant must have passed or have appeared for or be appearing for qualifying examinations before July 2019. 
  • Bachelor degree of the at least 4-year period in any specialization, from any recognised University.
  • Bachelor degree of the at least 3-year period in any branch.
  • Participants must have passed the Bachelor’s degree examination before July 2018.
  • Full-time Diploma (Design/Fine Arts/Applied Arts/Architecture) of at least 4-year duration, from any recognised university.
  • Participant must have passed or have appeared for or be appearing for qualifying examinations before July 2019.

Application Procedure for NID 2019

NID 2019 Application Form is expected to be available from October 2019. Participants required to visit the official website, i.e. and register before proceeding to fill the application form. Upon successful registration, participant’s login credentials will be sent through email to the registered email address and they must log in with the same.

After filling in the details in the application form, aspirants must upload their Participant’s recent passport-size color photograph as well as the signature in JPG/JPEG pattern not exceeding 100 KB in memory size.

Aspirants applying for the OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PWD categories need to upload their valid Caste Certificate/Tribe Certificate/Disability Certificate respectively, allocated by a competent authority. The certificate must be in JPG/JPEG pattern, not exceeding 150 KB in memory size. Overseas aspirants required to upload the first and last pages of their valid passport, completely showing all of their individual information. The document must be in JPG/JPEG pattern, not exceeding 150 KB in memory size.

After uploading the need documents, Application Fee can be paid online through Credit/Debit Card or offline through demand draft.  Category-wise Application fees for NID 2019 are tabulated below.

NID Hall Ticket 2019

NID 2019 Hall Ticket will be available for download from the official website separately for Prelims and Mains exam of both Under Graduate and Post Graduate levels according to the schedule. Participants are advised to download and obtain prints of the same as without the Hall Ticket, they will not be allowed to appear for the tests.

Aspirants can download their NID 2019 Hall Ticket by following these steps:

  • In case the aspirant has forgotten their application no., click on “Click here to view your application”.
  • The NID 2019 Admit card will be generated on the screen. Take a printout and keep it safe.
  • Fill in the need details and click submit button.
  • Click on the relevant link to NID 2019 Hall Ticket.

Exam Centers for NID 2019

Participants can specify their choice of Test Center in their Application Form. DAT Prelims for NID Admission 2019 is expected to be organized in the following cities: Once situated, no request for any change in test center will be entertained. However, the final allotment of test centers is done my NID.

NID Reserves the rights to add or remove any number of exam center if the situation demands so. DAT Mains exam for B.  Des and GDPD will be held in Ahmedabad only while the exams for M. Des will be held in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Bengaluru.

Exam Format for NID 2019

NID 2019 is a 3-hour exam comprising both objective and subjective questions.  The exam assesses aspirants on five parameters namely, Creativity, Comprehension, Knowledge, Analysis, and Visualization. Check below some highlights of NID 2019 Exam Format

  • DAT Mains for B. Des and GDPD will be a 3-hour studio round wherein participants have to draw/sketch/make models or engage in group discussions.
  • DAT Mains for M. Des consists of 2 parts: Studio Test and Interviews wherein the first part participants will be asked to draw/sketch/make models or engage in group discussions.
  • The exam is an offline, paper-based test split into 2 sections: Objective, MCQ type with OMR Answer sheet carrying a score of 70, and a Subjective section of 30 marks.
  • The test would be 3 hours’ period with a maximum score of 100.
  • Interviews will be held separately for each branch soon after the studio round.
  • All questions in DAT Prelims are mandatory to attend and there is no provision for negative marking.

NID Result 2019

NID 2019 Result for Under Graduate and Post Graduate Programs will be released on various dates. The Result will be available to download from the official website of NID. Once the results of DAT Prelims are released, NID will announce the provisional and final response keys for the convenience of examinees.

NID 2019 Result can be checked by the aspirants by following these steps:

  • Enter roll no. and application no. and click submit.
  • Go to the official website, i.e.
  • Take the printout and keep it for further reference.

Cut Off for NID 2019

Separate Cut Offs will be announced for NID DAT Prelims and NID DAT Mains exam. Only aspirants who secure NID DAT Prelims cut-off scores are applicable to take part in the subsequent Studio Test and Interview round for NID admissions.

In case of M. Des admissions, based on the category-wise merit list of DAT Prelims, the number of aspirants shortlisted for DAT Mains, in each category and branch is 5 times the number of available seats in each category and respective branch.

In case of B. Des/GDPD admissions, based on the category-wise merit list of DAT Prelims, the number of aspirants shortlisted for DAT Mains in each category is 3.5 times the number of available seats in each category and respective branch.

The score secured by the last aspirant in the NID general merit list will be considered as the NID cut-off score. Separate cut-off scores will be announced for each category of aspirants in NID 2019. Expected NID 2019 Cut Off has been tabulated below.


Counseling Procedure of NID 2019

NID 2019 Counseling is expected to be held in the first week of June 2019. NID Counseling 2019 includes three steps, namely: Aspirants featuring in the Final Merit List will be a provideed admission in NID on the basis of their placement in the stated list.

  • issuance of the provisional provides for admission.
  • submission of online consent by selected aspirants,
  • uploading of all need documents within the deadline,

Aspirants must current all documents in originals as well as copies of document verification during the counselling procedure of NID Admission 2019. These documents must comprise all academic certificates up till the qualifying examination, birth certificate, documents in the specified pattern to support claims for reservation, Photo ID proofs etc.

In case the aspirant fails to show up and current the need documents at the time of NID admission, the candidature is likely to be summarily canceled. Once the provisional admission provides is allocated, aspirants required to current all documents uploaded previous along with the Demand Draft towards the payment of Admission Fee, in person, at the specified campus as per schedule notified by the Admission Committee for confirmation of Admission.
