NID 2019 Exam Pattern

National Institute of Design organizes entrance examination for admission into different Under Graduate and Post Graduate design courses. The entrance examination includes two papers i.e. Prelims exam and Mains exam. Prelims exam is a pen-paper based written exam, whereas the Mains exam includes Studio Test and Individual Interview.

Total time period given to clear the exam is 3 hours. Prelims exam consists of objective questions while the Mains exam consists of Subjective questions.  Participants can attempt all the questions because there is no negative marking for wrong responses. The medium of the exam is English only. The exam is held for a total of 200 marks with equal weightage for Prelims and Mains exam.

NID 2019 examination is scheduled to be organized in the 1st week of January 2019. NID 2019 Exam Format in Detail

Before appearing in NID 2019 exam, students must check the examination format in detail so that they are aware of the type of questions asked in the paper, marking scheme, the difficulty level of paper etc.

Following is the detailed explanation of NID 2019 Exam format:

  • Questions in Stage 2 exam is based on practical test including sketching/ drawing, handicraft models, group discussions as well as presentations.
  • NID 2019 has 2 stages i.e. Stage I (Prelims) and Stage 2 (Mains)
  • The paper is held in offline method only.
  • Stage I, i.e. Prelims consists of 70 Objective questions, whereas Stage 2 consists of 30 Subjective questions.
  • Total period given to clear the exam is 3 hours
  • All the questions in the paper will be asked in English language only.
  • In the third stage, an Interview is organized immediately after the studio test at the same center.

NID 2019 Marking Scheme

  • For every accurate response, 1 mark will be honored.
  • There is no negative marking for the wrong response.
  • Marks will not be given or deducted for un-attempted questions.

NID 2019 Important Instructions

Aspirants must make sure to follow different important instructions for the day of exam. The same have been mentioned below:

  • Students must access the examination centre before the commencement of the exam
  • A valid photo ID proof comprises School/ College ID card, Passport, Driving License, Aadhar Card, Voter ID Card, PAN card etc.
  • Electronic devices like Mobile Phones, Pagers, Watches, Calculators etc are totally debared inside the examination hall
  • Without hall ticket students cannot appear for the exam
  • Along with NID Hall Ticket, students must also bring all necessary documents and photo ID proof to the exam venue.
  • It is compulsory for the documents to translate the school documents if they are in native language
  • They must arrange all the items like Black and Blue ballpoint pen, pencils, erasers, sharpeners etc before entering the exam hall.
