NEST 2018 Result will be out in the 3rd week of June 2018 for the exam held in May.

  • For preparing the merit list scores of a general section along with scores of top three sections from the subjects will be considered.
  • Application number and date of birth is needed to download the result
  • A separate merit list on the basis of marks scored in NEST exam will be prepared by the organizing body for providing admission.
  • Scorecard will contain aspirant’s score and rank

NEST(National Entrance Screening Test) is organizeed to grant admission in 5 years integrated M.Sc. programmes at NISER (National Institute of Science Education & Research), Bhubaneswar. The exam also provides admission in M.Sc. course provideed by UM-DAE CEBS (University of Mumbai-Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences), Mumbai.

How to Check NEST Result 2018?

NEST 2018 Result will be out in the third week of June 2018. The following steps are to be followed by aspirants to check the result:

  • Firstly, visit the official website www.nestexam.in
  • The scorecard will not be sent by post, the only way to check the result is online.
  • Use the application number and date of birth to log in.
  • The result will be displayed
  • Locate the “check Result” tab.
  • Click on the tab
  • Enter your Date of Birth in the of DD/MM/YYYY pattern.

Details on Score Card

The scorecard will contain the following details:

  • Score
  • Date of birth
  • Rank
  • Name
  • Registration number
  • Photograph
  • Date of examination

The scorecard will show you as “qualified for NEST 2018 Counseling” if you complete the cutoff marks for each subject in the entrance exam. In case you do not qualify for the exam, the message “Sorry you are not qualified” will display.


Normalization of Scores

For each section, 20% of the average of the 100 best scores in that section will be deliberated as Section–wise At Least Admissible Score (SMAS).

  • Moreover, a participant is compulsory to score equal to or above a total At Least Admissible Score (MAS), to get a merit rank.
  • SMAS for OBC participants would be 90% of respective SMAS for general category students.
  • As merit list calculation will be done on marks attained in the general section and in (best) three subject sections, the ‘total’ marks for NEST–2017 becomes 180 (30 + 50 x 3 = 180).
  • SMAS for SC/ST/PD participants would be 50% of respective SMAS for general category students.

Response Key of NEST 2018

The response key of NEST 2018 exam will be published via online mode. Participants can check the response key via our website, www.nestexam.in. The organizing body will announce the response key within a week after the examination. With the help of response key, participants can predict and calculate their scores.

How to download NEST Response Key 2018?

  • Aspirants can match their marked response with the NEST 2018 response keys and know the accurate and inaccurate answers they have marked in the entrance test and estimate their scores.
  • The response key will be available in PDF pattern.

  • NEST 2018 Response Key will be announced for all the 4 sections namely Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

Merit List of NEST 2018

NEST Merit List is well-defined by considering the scores of general sections along with the scores of top 3-sections from the topics (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics). Participants are then called for counseling. The section in which participant scores fewer marks will be removed from merit list calculation. On the basis of ranks secured in the NEST, a merit list is prepared.

In case, two or more participants secure similar marks then there exists a tie. Tie-breaker condition is used to break the tie:

  • If the tie still continues to persist, then the respective aspirants would be given same provisional rank at the time of declaration of the result and the tie will be broken by equating marks obtained in class 12th and date of birth in that order, during the time of admission/counselling.
  • In case two participants secure identical marks in the examination, the aspirants with a greater score in the general section will get a better rank.
  • If the tie condition still persists, then the scores achieved in the other sections will also be compared. The aspirant with the higher score in any of the subject section would get a better rank.

Cut Off from NEST 2018

Cut off of NEST 2018 will be assessed on many factors. Cut-off Marks will decide the procedure of selection of aspirants appeared in NEST 2018. These are a few factors that will affect the cutoff:

  • Difficulty level of question paper
  • Number Of seats available
  • No of aspirants who have passed the exam
  • Number of Participants that appeared for the NEST exam

Counseling of NEST 2018

NEST 2018 counseling process will be done in an offline method in different rounds. It is compulsory to qualify the entrance exam to get admission in M.Sc. programmes provideed by NISER and UM-DAE CEBS. Students required to report to the counseling venue at the specified date & timing.

NEST 2018 Counseling will be held in two Rounds:

  • Round 2 of NEST 2018 Counselling- The participants are admitted to the vacant seats of the institutes after the first round of counselling. The names of the waitlisted aspirants will be released by the participating institutions on their respective websites.
  • Round 1 of NEST 2018 Counselling- A joint modified merit list will be prepared on the basis of original merit list and the attendance at NISER and CBS. The admissions will be approved strictly on the basis of the merit list.

The List of original documents with self-attested photocopies, photographs to be produced at the time of counselling is as follows:

  • All mark sheets/grade reports and certificates, Original of Class X and XII, Transfer Certificate, Leaving Certificate and Character Certificate from School.
  • In case the Date of Birth is not mentioned in Class X Certificate, Date of Birth (DOB) Certificate is a need for the same.
  • Authority letter/undertaking in the prescribed pattern (Annexure-III of IB), if the participant is incapable of attending the counselling individually.
  • Original e- Hall Ticket, counselling letter from ICAR should also be current with the aspirant.
  • Four recent and complete passport size coloured photographs required to be submitted. They should have aspirants name and date mentioned at the back.
  • Medical Certificate should be presented if the aspirant is Physically Challenged (PC). It should be alloted by Medical Officer of any Government Hospital with a description of the kind and the degree of disability.
  • Demand Draft in favour of NISER, payable at Bhubaneswar, or in favour of CBS, payable at Mumbai, wherever aspirants are appearing for NEST 2017 counselling.
  • Domicile certificate.
  • In case the aspirant belongs to SC, ST or non-creamy layer of OBC categories, Original Caste Certificate as per Central Govt. is a need.
