NDA (National Defence Academy Exam) Question Paper & Answer Key, Analysis 2018

UPSC organizeed the admission test of NDA and NA on April 22, 2018. The Mathematics was organizeed in the morning shift followed by GAT in the afternoon shift. The exam was held in two sessions – morning and afternoon sessions.

  • Those students who have successfully completed the NDA 2018 cut off will only be called for an interview.
  • The exam covered majority of topics prescribed in the syllabus of NDA 2018.
  • The overall paper of Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT) was moderate to difficult in terms of difficulty as compared to last year.

Aspirants who have appeared for the NDA NA (I) 2018 exam can download the NDA 2018 Response Key from the link given below to check their responses and calculate the marks scored by them.

How to Check Response Key of NDA 2018?

After few hours of the completion of the exam, different coaching institutes will announce the response key. The official response key will be announced by UPSC in the month of April and September. Response key will be available in online method only. Students can also calculate their marks before the releasement of the result. Response keys will be downloaded along with the NDA question papers.

Following steps help students to download the NDA 2018 response key:

  1. Visit the official website of UPSC i.e. upsc.gov.in
  2. On the website menu bar, click on the Examination dropdown button
  3. Click on the Response Keys option.
  4. Search for the “National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination 2018”
  5. Click on the desired paper response key link.

After clicking on the link, the response key will be displayed on the screen in the PDF pattern. Students can download and take the printout of it for future reference.


How to Calculate NDA Scores using Response key?

With the help of the response key, students can calculate their estimate marks. Students must follow the below-marking scheme at the time of calculating marks: The Mathematics will be of 300 marks and GAT paper will be of 600 marks.

  • In the Mathematics subject, for every accurate response, 2.5 marks will be honoured.
  • In the General Ability Test, for every accurate response, 4 marks will be given
  • For wrong responses, 0.33 marks will be deducted

  • The overall difficulty level of the paper is moderate to difficult.
  • Most of the topics in the paper will be asked from NDA Syllabus.

Mathematics Section

The mathematics section is included in total 120 questions. The questions will be asked on the topics such as Algebra, Matrices and Determinants, Trigonometry, Calculus, Probability, complex number and Quadratic equation. The difficulty level of the Mathematics section was easy.

General Ability Section

GAT paper consists of 150 questions. The paper is divided into two parts i.e. Part A and Part B. The difficulty level the paper is moderate to difficult. The question in Part A section will be asked from English subject while, questions in Part B are from Physics Chemistry, Present Affairs and Matching.

Cut off from National Defence Academy Exam 2018

Cut off marks are the at least marks scored by the student in order to complete the entrance examination. Those who scored less than the cut off marks will not be applicable for admission. The cut off marks will be decided by the examination organizing body after the declaration of result.

Following are the factors on which cut off marks will depend:

  • Number of seats
  • The level of competition
  • Level of difficulty
  • Number of aspirants appeared for the exam
