NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) 2019

NATA 2019 or National Aptitude Test in Architecture 2019 is a national-level entrance test held annually serving as a platform to test aspirants’ aptitude and offer them admissions to the 5-year B.Arch. Degree program. Aspirants who have qualified their 10+2 examination, are applicable to take admission via NATA. NATA is facilitated by the Council of Architecture since 2006. Eligibility Criteria for NATA 2019

All the aspirants planning to attempt NATA 2019 must check whether they are applicable to it or not. There is no relaxation for special category students (SC/ST/OBC). NATA Eligibility Criteria as listed below is same for all aspiring aspirants.

  • Aspirants who after completing the 10th exam, have appeared for/finished IB diploma with Mathematics as a core subject.
  • There is no age criterion for appearing in NATA 2019.
  • Aspirants appeared for/finished Diploma (10+3 model, any stream) from a recognised body with Mathematics as a core subject.
  • Aspirants who have appeared for/finished 10+2 with Mathematics as a core subject.
  • Students, who have completed SSC exam and hold an International Baccalaureate diploma passed or are appearing, are also applicable to apply.
  • There are not any lateral admission criteria for admission in any stage/year of B.Arch. course.

Please note that qualifying NATA 2019 does not guarantee an aspirant admission to any architecture program unless the prescribed eligibility conditions as specified by various admission authorities are duly satisfied.

Application Form of NATA 2019

NATA 2019 Registration will take place in online method and is expected to start in January 2019. The steps in the registration procedure are as follows: The Application Form can be accessed, filled and submitted on the official website only.

  1. Visit the official website of NATA i.e.
  2. Click on the link “Online Application NATA 2019”.
  3. Enter Individual Details (Name, Parents name, DOB, Nationality, Communicating Address, and academic details etc.).
  4. Choose any 3 Exam Centers in order of preference which is later allotted on the basis of ‘first-come-first-allot’ and availability.
  5. A unique 7-digit numeric UID is generated for which aspirants required to choose a password.
  6. Upload documents along with participant’s scanned photograph, specimen signature, and thumb impression. Specific particulars concerned with images are:

  1. Once images are uploaded, the next step is payment of fees. Aspirants have the option of paying the application fees either online or offline.
  2. Upon successful completion of fee payment procedure, a confirmation page is generated.

Aspirants are expected to fill up the Application form with a mistake-free attitude. However, COA offers a short duration of time when aspirants can change/modify information in their respective application forms online. Beyond this specific correction window, no request for change or modification in NATA 2019 Application Form will be entertained.

NATA 2019 Application Fee

NATA 2019 Application Fee is INR 1250 for all aspirants. Please note that aspirants who opt for Dubai as the exam centre have to pay an extra INR 7000. Aspirants can choose to pay the application fees through online or offline mode.

  1. Online mode: Fee can be paid using Debit/Credit Cards or Internet Banking.
  2. Offline Mode: By paying via e-challan at any pan India discipline of ICICI bank.

Please note that the aspirant is responsible to bear the bank transaction fees charged at the time of making online/offline payments.

Hall Ticket of NATA 2019

NATA Hall Ticket 2019 will be made available on the official portal of NATA in March 2019. Aspirants must take care that Council of Architecture is not responsible for sending NATA 2019 Hall Ticket through email or courier to any participants. It has to be downloaded from the official website. NATA Hall Ticket 2019 is a compulsory document that must be kept safe until the admission procedure. Aspirants can follow these steps to download NATA 2019 Hall Ticket:

  1. Visit the official website of NATA
  2. Click on “Download NATA 2019 Hall Ticket” link
  3. Enter participant’s NATA UID and password
  4. Thoroughly check the details printed on NATA 2019 Hall Ticket.
  5. Download NATA 2019 Hall Ticket and print multiple copies for future use.

Aspirants’ Name, Examination Roll Number, and other relevant details concerned with the exam like exam centre, timing, instruction etc. will be printed on NATA Hall Ticket 2019. At the time of the test as well as selection and admission procedure, NATA Hall Ticket 2019 has to be supported by the following documents:

  • Valid photo ID alloted by the Government of India.
  • An identical photograph uploaded in NATA Application Form

Aspirants should make sure that the photograph and signature printed on the hall ticket are not soiled in any attitude. In case, NATA Hall Ticket 2019 is established to be soiled, the aspirant will not be allowed to take the exam.

Exam Format of NATA 2019

NATA 2019 is an offline, paper-based test, split into two papers: Paper 1 tests the aspirants on General Aptitude and Knowledge of Mathematics while Paper 2 assesses aspirants’ Drawing Skills. Both the papers will be organizeed on the same day with each paper being allotted 90 minutes for completion. The table below depicts NATA Exam Format 2019 with an extensive attitude.

It is compulsory for an aspirant to attempt both the papers. And, aspirants must note that there is no negative marking in NATA exam.

Syllabus and Advisable Books for NATA 2019

  • General Aptitude: Architectural awareness, Textural Identification of commonly used material and objects, visualizing various sides of three dimensional objects, visualizing three dimensional objects via two dimensional drawing, Imaginative comprehension, and expression, Analytical and Verbal Reasoning, Mental ability (verbal, visual, and numerical), General awareness of renowned architects and popular architectural installations.
  • Drawing Test: Understanding of scale and proportion, geometric composition, building forms and elements, aesthetics, harmony and contrast, colour texture, conceptualization and visualization by structuring objects in memory, drawing geometrical and abstract formats, form transformations in 2D and 3D like union, subtraction, rotation, surfaces and volumes, and colour texture, creating 2D and 3D compositions using given shape and forms, generating plan, elevation, and 3D views of objects. Perspective drawing, sketching of urbanscape and landscape, common day-to-day life objects like furniture, equipment etc., from memory.
  • Mathematics: Algebra, Logarithms, Matrices, Permutation and Combination, Coordinate Geometry and 3-Dimensional Co-ordinate geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus – Theory & Application, Statistics, and Probability.

Result of NATA 2019

NATA Result 2019 is expected to be announced in June 2019. It can be accessed from NATA’s official website. It will be available in the following three patterns:

  1. Aggregate Marks secured as well as scores of each personal section
  2. Merit listing – Based on scores obtained and tie-breaking rules
  3. Percentile score - Based on merit listing

Aspirants can check the steps involved in accessing NATA Result 2019 are:

  • View, download and print the scorecard
  • Enter the captcha offered
  • Login with the UID and Password
  • Select “Download scorecard for NATA 2019”
  • Visit the official website of NATA

A consolidated merit list of NATA 2019 aspirants will be published by Council of Architecture. In merit listing, all aspirants will get unique rank. As such, if more than one aspirant gets identical aggregate, tie-breaking conditions would be applied in the following order:

  1. Higher score in Mathematics section
  2. Less number of wrong-responses in Mathematics section.
  3. A higher score in problem-solving questions of General Aptitude section.
  4. Less number of wrong-responses in General Aptitude section.
  5. Previous date of birth

Qualifying marks for NATA 2017 would be based on:

  • At least 25% marks to be secured in Drawing section (20 out of 80)
  • Overall qualifying aggregate marks (out of 200) would be based on post-exam statistics and at the discretion of the Council of Architecture.
  • At least 25% marks to be secured in MCQ section (30 out of 120)

Counseling of NATA 2019

NATA qualified aspirants can seek admission into the 5 years B. Arch program in various Indian Institutes and Universities by appearing for counseling round for final admission. This is followed by verification of the following documents: The aspirants required to register and select the choice of seats for participating in NATA 2019 Counseling Procedure.

  • Birth certificate (if there is an age limit criterion for the particular institute).
  • Class 10th Mark Sheet
  • Reservation certificate (if need by a particular Institute)
  • NATA Scorecard
  • Class 12th Mark Sheets

Aspirants must note the following points.

  • Aspirants should have obtained a valid score in both: the qualifying exam and NATA 2019. Aspirants’ total score will be assessed by taking 50% marks from 10+2 or any other equivalent examination with Mathematics as a mandatory subject and 50% marks secured in NATA 2019.
  • NATA 2019 Score Card is considered valid only when aspirants have secured at least 25% marks in MCQ portion (30 out of 120) & 25% marks in Drawing portion. (20 out of 80)
  • NATA 2019 scorecard is valid for the academic year 2019-20.
