MICAT 2018 Question Paper, Answer Key & Paper Analysis

The second test – MICAT II – was held on February 17, 2018. Check MICAT Cut off 2018 As compared to MICAT I, considerably lower number of students appeared for the test.  All students reported receiving the same paper. The test’s onboarding procedure was smooth. However, the order and options of questions were jumbled.

  • Shortlisted aspirants will appear for Group Practice (GE) and Individual Interview (PI) rounds from March 8-18. These rounds are common for both MICAT I & II candidates. Check MICAT Selection Process
  • The overall difficulty level can be termed from easy to moderate.
  • No technical glitches were reported for the exam.
  • The exam was organized on computer-based method across 27 cities in India.

MICAT 2018 How to Check Response Key?

The response key will be announced separately for MICAT I and MICAT II exam. The response key can be downloaded from the official MICAT website. Response key will be available in the PDF pattern and students can calculate rough scores or proximate scores with the help of the response key.

The code for each of the question paper set must be matched with the response key set before downloading the response key.

Marking Scheme for MICAT 2018

The rules of the MICAT marking scheme are eligible to both MICAT I and MICAT II exam. As per the marking scheme detailed by MICAT following can be observed:

  • 0.25 marks are deducted from the total score for every inaccurate response.
  • 1 mark will be honored for every accurate response.

MICAT 2018 How to Check Response Key?

  1. Visit the official website of MICAT i.e. www.mica.ac.in
  2. Click on the link “MICAT 2018 Response key.”
  3. A new web page will open up, that will contain the response key links of various sets.
  4. There are 4 sets: A, B, C, and D.
  5. Students can download the response key independently for each set.

Paper Analysis for MICAT 2018

MICAT Paper Analysis 2018 - Descriptive Test

  • The first three questions were on the topic ‘Public opinion is vital for policy-making’.
  • This section tested the analytical and writing ability along with the creative quotient of the aspirants.
  • It was specifically mentioned in the instructions that the stance could not be neutral.
  • In the first question, aspirants had to write three points in favor of the topic and in the second question, they had to write three points against the topic.
  • The third question was to write 200 words in either in favor or against the topic.

MICAT Paper Analysis 2018 - Psychometric Test

  • The aim of this section was to get an idea of the aspirants’ individuality traits.
  • The first 10 questions asked the aspirants to select the option closest to their individuality.
  • Here, a test taker had to rank the statements according to their choice.
  • The last ten questions consisted of six statements each.
  • This was a mandatory section with no negative marking.
  • According to MICA, aspirants whose choices reflect leadership skills will have a higher chance of getting shortlisted.
  • In the next 16 questions, aspirants had to select one among two statements closest to their individuality.

MICAT Paper Analysis 2018 - Logical Reasoning

This section had 30 questions with a majority (19 questions) from Verbal Logic. Other topics comprised Data Sufficiency and Visual Reasoning. Questions on Word Association were on trickier lines. One of the questions on Statement-Assumptions were vague in nature.

MICAT Paper Analysis 2018 - General Knowledge

  • No questions were asked of books-authors and history.
  • Some of the questions were asked in the match the column pattern.
  • This section had a majority of the questions from business awareness and the topics comprised logos, taglines, CEOs, mergers & acquisitions, recent recruitments among others.
  • Present affairs questions on national and international events, politics, court decisions, inquiry committees were also asked.

MICAT Paper Analysis 2018 - Verbal Ability

This section carried the mix of questions from the topics like Vocabulary, Grammar, Jumbled Sentence among others. There was one Reading Comprehension passage which carried five questions. While the vocabulary and grammar questions were tricky, Jumbled Sentence questions were very easy.

MICAT Paper Analysis 2018 - Quantitative Ability

This section was dominated by Arithmetic. The difficulty level of this section was higher than usual. The other major topic was Data Interpretation.

Cut off for MICAT 2018

MICAT 2018 cut off will be declared as part of the MICAT selection procedure in the month February 2018. The final result will be announced on February 28, 2018 and the cut off will be declared on the same day by coaching institutes as MICA does not announce any official cut off.

MICA does not declare an official cutoff for PGDMC. Final selection will be reached upon by calculating the composite score based on 50% of CAT/XAT/GMAT and 50% MICAT score. The expected MICAT Cut off 2018 is given below: MICAT Cut off 2018 might range between 59-61.

Selection Process of MICAT 2018

The selection procedure of PGDM-C involves three steps:

Step 1- A aspirant has to take minimum one of these three exams- CAT (2016), XAT (2017) and GMAT (2015 onwards).

Step 2- Aspirants will have to appear for the institute’s entrance exam- MICAT. They will be assessed upon Psychometric (P), Verbal ability (VA), Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation (QADI), General awareness (GA), Divergent and Convergent Thinking (DCT), and Descriptive Test (DT).

Step 3- Based on their performance in the MICA Admission Test (MICAT), aspirants are shortlisted for Group Practice (GE) and Individual Interview (PI). The selection rounds will be held in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata & Mumbai.
