MGU CAT (Common Admission Test) Exam Pattern 2018

MGU CAT 2018 Exam Format will be alloted by Mahatma Gandhi University for students who are interested in admission to post graduation in the Statutory Teaching Departments and Inter School Centers.

The test paper will be a descriptive type for MA Malayalam, MA English, LLM and Master of Tourism Management.

Mahatma Gandhi University claims the procedure to be the simplest and most transparent for allocation of vacant seats which provides aspirant with an opportunity to practice the options and put forth their choice conveniently in the order of preference. It is to be noted particularly that MGU CAT 2018 will be organizeed for all the interested and applicable aspirants except foreign aspirants.

Exam Format in Detail of MGU CAT 2018

Mahatma Gandhi University Common Admission Test could be attempted in 90 minutes for all the academic branchs. The test paper is of objective type except for the following courses:

  • MA Malayalam
  • LLM
  • Master of Tourism Management
  • MA English

For the above-mentioned programs, the questions asked will be objective as well as descriptive.

Marking Scheme of MGU CAT 2018

MGU CAT 2018 question paper will be of 200 marks in total. There will be two sections in the question paper which has 50 questions in total. All the questions carry equal marks, that is 4 marks is rewarded for every accurate response.

The marks calculated for MGU CAT 2018 will depend on the following:

  1. The marks scored by the aspirant in the entrance test for the respective subject converted to 1000.
  2. The bonus marks or the weight marks that facilitate to some categories.

Bonus/Weightage marks in MGU CAT 2018:

Indexing of marks will depend on the bonus marks honoured to the students as per the below guidelines:

  1. NCC aspirants are rewarded with a bonus of 5 marks offered aspirant possess a genuine NCC certificate with seal and signature by the Director and alloted by the Directorate with at least of 75% attendance. Moreover, A certificate holder will be honoured with 3 points whereas B and C certificate holders will get 5 points.
  2. NSS aspirants will be honoured with a bonus of 5 marks offered aspirant have an NSS certificate which should be legally signed by the Vice-Chancellor or Pro Vice-Chancellor and alloted to aspirants who have successfully finished 240 hours’ work in a two years’ span.
  3. Ex-servicemen, widows and children of Jawans will be honoured with 15 marks.
  4. Aspirants who have applied for M.Ed. courses and are finished with their corresponding B.Ed. the degree will also be facilitated with bonus points.15 marks as bonus points will be honoured to aspirants with a first-class Post Graduate degree whereas 10 marks will be rewarded to aspirants with a second-class PG degree and 5 marks will be honoured to aspirants with the third-class Post Graduate degree respectively.
  5. Deduction of 5 marks will be done from the overall indexed marks of participants for each additional appearance taken for completing the qualifying test.

Syllabus of MGU CAT 2018

MGU CAT 2018 can get graduation books as per the academic programs they have chosen. According to those chosen courses, they must study all the corresponding graduation books the university recommends to pass the entrance test. Students can choose up to four academic courses in which they wish to pursue post-graduation.

Important Instructions of MGU CAT (Common Admission Test) Exam Pattern 2018

All the important instructions and guidelines for MGU CAT are bulleted below:

  • Individual belongings like baggage must be kept outside the centre. Also, the centre will not be responsible for mishappening of any sort with the belongings.
  • Participant must be current at the examination centre 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the entrance test.
  • Responses should be marked correctly in the OMR sheet as per participant’s ability and knowledge by darkening the suitable options.
  • Participants are not allowed to open the seal of exam booklet unless instructed to do the same.
  • Candidature will be cancelled for a participant who is established guilty of using unfair means to mark the responses.
  • Electronic gadgets like mobile phones, calculators or suchlike are restricted inside the examination centre.
  • Aspirants are given an extra time of 10 minutes to read the distributed exam booklet thoroughly to avoid unseekinged situations.
  • Participant is not allowed to leave the centre before the timings of the examination as it can lead to the cancellation of the examination.
  • Under any circumstances, participant’s entry would be debarred in the reporting centre without the is MGU CAT 2018 hall ticket.
