Karnataka PGCET (Post Graduate Common Entrance Test) 2018

Karnataka PGCET 2018 will be organizeed by Karnataka Examination Authority. It is a state level entrance examination conducted for admission into first-year full time/part time MBA/MCA/M.Arch/M.Tech/ME, part-time M.Tech and second year of MCA program. This examination is for the admission in courses that are offered by the private/government/private un-aided colleges situated in Karnataka.

  • Karnataka PGCET 2018 will be organizeed in offline mode.
  • There is no negative marking for any inaccurate answer.
  • The exam will be of 150 minutes' period and the number of question for each paper is 100 marks.
  • The questions will be multiple choice based and medium of exam will be English only.

The application form for the examination will be available for aspirants from the first week of July 2018 and they can download the hall tickets in the month of August. The exam will be organizeed in 12 centres by the authority for admissions in 178 colleges across the state. The application form will be available on the official website of the organizeing authority www.kea.kar.nic.in.

Karnataka PGCET (Post Graduate Common Entrance Test) Eligibility 2018

There are certain eligibility requirements which must be fulfilled by aspirants to successfully appear for the exam. Before applying for Karnataka PGCET 2018, aspirants must go via the conditions given below:

  • Participant having valid GATE score must not appear in the test. They can apply for the admission separately.
  • Aspirants of the states other than Karnataka state are applicable for admission into MBA/MCA seats.
  • Aspirants should hold a valid certificate proving their domicile of Karnataka state.
  • Aspirants must hold graduate degree or equivalent with 50% marks (45% for QE for SC/ST & Category I of Karnataka aspirants).

Eligibility Criteria for MCA

Aspirants, who have finished undergraduate or its equivalent exam with securing at least 50% marks (45% marks in QE for SC/ST & Category I of Karnataka aspirants) in the qualifying exam, are permitted to apply.

Eligibility criteria for MCA (Lateral Entry)

Aspirants should have finished a recognised BCA or B.Sc (IT/Computer Science) with obtaining at least 50% marks (45% marks in QE for SC/ST & Category I of Karnataka aspirants).

Eligibility criteria for Part-Time/ Full-Time MBA Program

Aspirants should have completed a recognised three `years period Graduation degree or its equivalent exam. They required obtaining minimum an average of 50% marks (45% marks in QE in for SC/ST & Category I of Karnataka aspirants) in the qualifying exam.

Eligibility criteria for M.Tech/ME/M.Arch (Part Time/Full Time)

The aspirant must have passed B.Tech/BE/B.Arch or equivalent examination with an aggregate at least of 50% marks or 45% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST and Category-I Karnataka aspirants.

Application Form for Karnataka PGCET 2018

Students will be able to fill Karnataka PGCET 2018 Application Form in online method from the official website. The application form will be available on the official website of the authority www.kea.kar.nic.in.

The application form will be announced from the July 2018 and will be available till the Last week of July 2018. General category aspirants will have to pay INR 650 and SC/ST aspirants will have to pay INR 500 as application fee.

Phase I

  • Enter individual details like name, gender, category, email address, residential address and phone number.
  • Enter mobile number and e-mail address for future communication and notices.
  • Upload the Left-Hand Thumb Impression in JPEG pattern.
  • Karnataka PGCET 2018 Registration can be done by visiting the official website of KEA.

Phase II

  • The general category aspirants will have to pay INR 650 and SC/ST aspirants will have to pay INR 500 as application fees.
  • Upload the scanned images of photograph and sample signature before generating the challan for the submission of application fee.
  • Pay the application fee only via Bank Challan (offline mode) to any of the disciplines of specified banks.

Karnataka PGCET Hall Ticket 2018

The hall ticket must be cautiously preserved by the aspirant as it will act as admit card in the examination hall. Also, the hall ticket will be needed at the time of counselling and admission. Karnataka PGCET 2018 Hall Ticket will be available in the month of August 2018. Aspirants will be able to download the hall ticket via online method from the official website of the authority.

The hall ticket will contain the individual details of the aspirant such name, date of birth, category, gender along with exam centre address, date, period and time of the exam. The steps to download the hall ticket for the examination is as follows:

  • Click on the ‘Download Karnataka PGCET hall ticket’.
  • Download it and take a printout of hall ticket for future assistance.
  • Karnataka PGCET 2018 Hall Ticket will be displayed on the screen in PDF pattern.
  • Aspirants must preserve their hall ticket till the admission procedure not over.
  • The hall ticket will be available for an aspirant on the official website www.kea.kar.nic.in.

Exam Format of Karnataka PGCET 2018

The examination will be organizeed in an offline method in the English language where all the questions will be objective type multiple choice questions. There will be no negative making rule eligible for the entrance test. Aspirant will have to solve100 questions in the period of two and half hours.

Karnataka PGCET Result 2018

  • Karnataka PGCET 2018 Result will be released in the third week of August 2018. Aspirants will be able to check their results via an online method on the official website of the examination authority.
  • Aspirants will be invited for the counseling procedure according to their ranks in the merit list.
  • Aspirant will be able to reach the result using their registration number to login to the result page.
  • The merit list will be prepared on the basis of the marks gained by the aspirants in the exam. A various merit list will be prepared and published for the entire provideed program courses along with separate lists for various courses.

Valid GATE score

GATE score of 2017 and 2018 will be valid for three years from the date of releasement of the result. courses. Tech. If the GATE score is above the qualifying marks, aspirant shall be applicable to apply for M.E. /M.

Karnataka PGCET (Post Graduate Common Entrance Test) Merit List 2018

Aspirants with qualifying mark according to the predefined qualified marks by the Karnataka Examinations Authority for PGCET 2018 examination will make it to the merit list.  The merit list will not comprise marks of aspirants as it is necessary for application procedure only.

  • All non-GATE aspirants will have to appear for K PGCET 2017.
  • For M.E. / M. Tech/ M. Arch courses, GATE aspirants’ merit list will be prepared on the basis of GATE valid score. Selected aspirants will be preferred on the basis of their employment in government organization/ public sector/ private organization.
  • The merit of the aspirant will be determined separately for each course.
  • If the merit of two aspirants is same, inter se merit shall be determined on the basis of the marks that aspirants possess in the qualifying examination. One with higher marks will be given preference. If there are still any clashes, age will be considered an aspirant who is elder will be preferred.

Karnataka PGCET Seat Allocation Procedure 2018

For ME/M.Tech/M.Arch

  • Aspirants with applicable PGCET 2018 score will be allotted the remaining seats. Aspirants from Karnataka will be given the preference with 90% reservation in seats.
  • Whereas the remaining aspirants with domiciles outside the state of Karnataka will be allotted the left vacant 10% seats.
  • The preference will be given to the GATE scorecard holders irrespective of the state reservation.


  • The general category and reserved category seats under Government seats under Government seats will be allotted to only those aspirants who are applicable as Karnataka aspirants.
  • The general category seats under Management seats will be allotted to both Karnataka and non-Karnataka aspirants.

The 3 % seats according to the Government norms are reserved for the disabled and differently able aspirants. A time duration of three days will be given to aspirants from the date of hosting the allocation details on the website in the first round to decide whether to take admission or not.
