JEE Main 2018 B. Arch/B.Plan Paper 2

JEE Main includes 2 papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is meant for B. Tech candidates while aspirants applying for B. Arch course should attempt Paper 2 of JEE Main. Paper 2 comprises three sections- Mathematics, Aptitude, and Drawing. 

  • 4 marks each are honored for first two sections. Drawing section has 2 questions of total 70 marks.
  • 82 questions are asked in Paper 2 of JEE Main with Mathematics and Aptitude having 80 questions, while 2 questions are based on drawing section.

JEE Main Paper 2 is only organized in Pen and Paper mode. Aspirants applying for JEE Main Paper 1 can also apply for JEE Main Paper 2 and vice versa but the Application fee is various for appearing in both or single exam. Check Here JEE Main Sample Papers 

JEE Main Paper 2 aims at measuring the aptitude of the participant for specific field of study, i.e. Architecture. The test measures drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity and critical thinking ability, that have been earned over a long duration of time.

JEE Main 2018 Paper 2 Exam Dates

CBSE will release the schedule for JEE Main 2018 online and offline examination. The exam will be organized in the first week of April 2018 in both online and offline mode. You can check the calendar of events mentioned below for regular updates and procedure wise deadlines.

JEE Main Application Form for Paper 2

  • Note that there is no separate procedure to apply for JEE Main Paper 2.
  • For the academic session, 2018-19 Registration procedure will be finished in January 2018.
  • JEE Main Paper 2 Registration is done along with JEE Main Registration.
  • Last year, CBSE directed that Aadhar number is compulsory to fill in JEE Main Application Form.
  • They need to fill all necessary information such as paper details, exam centers, individual information, qualification details, etc. during online registration.
  • JEE Main Application Form will be available in online method only on the CBSE portal.

Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main Paper 2

The basic eligibility criteria for appearing in JEE Main is to pass class 12 or equivalent exam with 45%marks in each of the subject (40% in case of reserved categories). Other compulsory requirements are mentioned below: -

Academic Qualification

  • Optional subjects studied by the aspirants are Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational.
  • An at least of 45 % in aggregate (40 % for SC/ST aspirants) is needed in qualifying exam.
  • The fifth subject can be any subject.
  • Participants must have compulsorily studied a language, Physics, and Mathematics.
  • Aspirants must have passed class 12 in an at least of 5 subjects.

Age Limit: Aspirants must have been born on or after October 1, 1993 (October 1, 1988 for SC/ST aspirants) to be applicable for JEE Main Paper 2.

Exam Format for JEE Main Paper 2

JEE Main Paper 2 for B. Arch is a 3-hour examination that comprises three sections – Mathematics, Aptitude and Drawing/Sketching Test. Students must carry their own geometry box set, pencils, erasers, crayons and color pencils.  The aptitude test must be attempted in English only.

Result and Selection Process for JEE Main Paper 2

JEE Main Paper 2 Result will be declared separately. Once the result is declared, a cut off list is prepared and those who qualify in JEE Main Paper 2 Cut Off shall proceed to the admission procedure.

CBSE scrapped the inclusion of class 12 weight while preparing merit list, however, it is compulsory to score minimum 75% marks in the qualifying exams to get via with admission procedure. The admission procedure will be finished once registration for JoSAA Counseling is done.

JEE Main Paper 2 Evaluation in case of Tie

In case of a tie, i.e. when two or more aspirants obtain equal marks (by giving 60% weight to performance in JEE (Main) and 40% weight to normalized marks in Class 12th or equivalent qualifying examination), inter-se merit of such aspirants shall be decided in the following order:

  1. Rank list for admission to B. Arch/B. Planning (in institutions other than IITs)
  2. Resolution by marks obtained in Aptitude Test in Paper-2 (B. Arch./B. Planning.) in JEE (Main) – 2017. Aspirant obtaining higher marks will be given better rank.
  3. Resolution by marks obtained in Drawing Test in Paper-2 (B. Arch./B. Planning.) in JEE (Main) – 2017. Aspirant obtaining higher marks will be given better rank.
  4. Resolution by total normalized qualifying exam marks. Aspirants obtaining higher normalized marks will be given better rank.
  5. Resolution by finding the ratio of positive marks and negative marks. Aspirant having the higher absolute value of the ratio will be given better rank.
  6. If the resolution is not possible after this criterion, aspirants will be given the same rank.

Aptitude Syllabus for JEE Main Paper 2
