JEE Advanced Exam Pattern 2018

JEE Advanced 2018 is scheduled for the third week of May 2018. JEE Advanced results will be published in last week of June 2018. Paper 1 will be organized from 9 AM to 12 PM, while Paper 2 will be organized from 2 PM to 5 PM.

  • There will two papers on the same day with a gap of 1 hour. Aspirants have to appear for both Paper 1 and Paper 2.
  • Those who have applied for B.Arch will have to appear for AAT (Architecture Aptitude Test) exam.
  • JEE Advanced 2018 is an online test comprising of 3 sections namely Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. 
  • It will be 3 hours’ period test. Negative marking is also eligible in the exam.

Highlights on JEE Advanced 2018

The important highlights of JEE Advanced Paper are:

  • It is an online test
  • No negative marking is eligible for numerical type questions
  • Exam will be of 180 minutes
  • Questions will be framed upon topics covered in class 11 and class 12
  • Questions can be of objective type or numerical type
  • Total 56 questions will be asked in Paper-1 and 54 questions in Paper-2
  • There will be 3 sections- Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics

Marking Scheme for JEE Advanced 2018

JEE Advanced consists of two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2. There will be 10 sets of questions for Paper-1. The questions asked are both numerical and objective type. Aspirants are given 180 minutes to solve the paper. Paper-1 consists 3 sections viz Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. It is compulsory for the aspirants to appear for both the papers. Aspirants can check the marking scheme from the table below:

JEE Advanced 2018 Use of Optical Answer Sheet

Aspirants have to mark their responses in an optical answer sheet offerd to them. While filling up the ORS sheet they must abide by the following guidelines:

  • Aspirants are allowed mark only 1 choice. If two or more circles are darkened then response will be considered as invalid
  • The marked choice should be darkened clearly and neatly.
  • Do not tamper the bar code on the ORS.
  • Use of gel pens, fountain pens are debared for marking answer in ORS.
  • Enter name and roll number as mentioned in hall ticket in the space offerd.
  • For marking responses, use black point pen only.
  • Only those aspirants who will appear for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be allowed to view their ORS sheet.
  • In between both the papers there will be 2 hours gap. Aspirants must report for the examination on time.

Important Instructions for JEE Advanced 2018

  • Do not leave the exam center without submitting ORS sheet and calculation sheet
  • Carry the hall ticket and Id proof along with you
  • Aspirants must access 20 minutes before to exam centres
  • Carry your stationaries to the exam centre

For both paper 1 and paper 2 questions will be asked from class 11 and 12 syllabi. Aspirants who are interested in studying B.Arch have to appear for AAT(Architecture Aptitude Test).

JEE Advanced 2018 Syllabus

Geometrical drawing

Drawing lines, angles, triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, circles, etc. Study of plan (top view), elevation (front or side views) of simple solid objects like prisms, cones, cylinders, cubes, splayed surface holders, etc.

Three-dimensional Perception

It comprises of three-dimensional forms of building elements with specifications such as colour, volume and orientation. It also comprises visualization of structuring objects in memory.

Imagination and Aesthetic Sensitivity

Architectural Awareness

General interest and awareness of popular architectural creations – both national and international, places and individualities (architects, designers, etc.) in the concerned domain.

Free hand drawing

It comprises simple drawing depicting the total object in its right form and proportion, surface texture, relative location and details of its component parts in suitable scale. Aspirants are asked to draw objects concerned to day to day life such furniture, utensils etc.
