IOCL Recruitment via GATE 2018 – IOCL is appointing for Graduate Engineers via GATE 2018. There is no separate application fee. The selection of aspirants is based on GATE 2018 score. The IOCL Appointment via GATE 2018 online application form is available from January 10, 2018, to February 12, 2018. The shortlisted aspirants will undergo in the procedure of selection procedure i.e.Group discussion & Individual interview.

  • In Business Development, engineers may be posted in petrochemicals, polymer projects, operations, sales and marketing, gas, renewable energy and sustainable development.
  • In the Refineries Division, the postings of engineers may be made in the engineering services, procedure, production, projects, power plant, maintenance, inspection etc., based on their qualifications.
  • In the Pipelines Division, engineers may be posted in operations and maintenance, constructions, projects, etc.
  • Aspirants who are selected as engineers may be posted in any one of the divisions of Indian Oil Refineries, Marketing, Pipelines and Business Development, Information Systems, Optimization or In Subsidiary/Joint Venture Companies.
  • In the Marketing Division, engineers may be posted in Aviation services, Engineering, Operations, Maintenance and Inspection, Sales and Marketing, Technical Services, Quality Control, etc.

Petroleum engineers will be posted in the Exploration and Production Business Vertical of Business Development Division.Their job profiles would comprise supervising drilling operations and preparing drilling engineering designs, calculations and drilling programmes for the blocks operated by Indian Oil, monitoring of production performance for producing upstream assets of Indian Oil, carrying out reservoir engineering simulation and modelling for optimal reservoir management.

How to Apply for IOCL Recruitment through GATE 2018

Aspirants who want a job in PSU’s can apply for IOCL appointment. They can go via following points to know about the application process of IOCL:

  2. Click on the CAREERS option and open the GATE 2018 link.

Eligibility Criteria for IOCL Recruitment through GATE 2018

The need educational qualification criteria for IOCL appointment via GATE 2018 are following:

  • Aspirants must have B.E/ B.Tech degree in Chemical Engineering/ Civil Engineering/ Computer Science and Information Technology/ Electrical Engineering/ Electronics and Communications Engineering/ Instrumentation Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering from a recognised university.

Eligibility For Chemical Engineering and Polymer Science and Engineering

  • Aspirants having BE/B.Tech or equivalent qualifications in Chemical Engineering/Polymer Science and Engineering /Petro-Chemical Engineering/ Plastic Technology may also be considered for the vacancies in Chemical Engineering.
  • However, aspirants with BE/B.Tech equivalent qualifications in Chemical Engineering/Polymer Science Engineering/Technology, who are desirous to be considered only for the vacancies under Polymer Science and Engineering must appear under Engineering Sciences [Polymer Science and Engineering section (code F)]. They are to follow the GATE examination structure as under:
  1. Aspirants should have secured at least 65% of marks in qualifying degree examination. The qualifying marks are relaxed to 55% for SC/ ST /PWD category aspirants.
  2. Section A: Engineering Mathematics
  3. General Aptitude
  4. Polymer Science and Engineering (Paper Code F) (MANDATORY)
  5. Any other paper from XE paper section other than the papers mentioned above.    
  6. Aspirants need to practice this option while registering their Online Applications in Indian Oil.

Salary of IOCL Recruitment through GATE 2018

Aspirants selected as Engineers/Officers will be receiving a monthly remuneration of Rs. 24,900/- Also, the selected aspirants will be getting DA and other allowances as per the rules of the Corporation in force, as amended from time to time.

Other Allowances or Benefits would comprise HRA/Subsidized Housing Accommodation (depending upon the place of posting),medical facilities,performance concerned pay,gratuity,contributory offering fund,employees pension scheme, group individual accident insurance scheme, leave encashment,LTC,contributory superannuation benefit fund scheme,conveyance advance,performance concerned incentives,etc.

The Cost To Company (CTC) will be around Rs.12.00 lakhs per annum inclusive of Performance Concerned Pay.

The Actual CTC will vary, depending on the place of posting, the financial performance of the Corporation and also the personal performance of the employee.


Reservation for IOCL Recruitment through GATE 2018

  1. Reservation of Posts for SC/ST/OBC/PWD (degree of disability 40% or above) will be maintained as per the Government of India directives.
  2. Forgetting the benefits of reservation under OBC category:
  3. The name of caste and community of the aspirant should be appearing in the ‘CENTRAL LIST OF OTHER BACKWARD CLASSES
  4. The aspirants should not belong to the CREAMY LAYER.

  • In addition to qualifying in the GATE 2018, the aspirants required to qualify via GD/GT and also PI successfully before being adjudged as appropriate for selection.

Ques. How will Indian Oil use GATE scores?

Ans. Indian Oil will shortlist the aspirants who have applied for the given post, using GATE 2018 score. Indian Oil will get the GATE 2018  scores from the Office of Chairman, GATE 2017. However, the scores of only GATE qualified aspirants will be given to the Indian Oil.Therefore, aspirants, not qualifying via GATE, shall not be shortlisted for GD/GT and PI. Aspirants, who have appeared in GATE 2017 in the need branches and also applied in Indian Oil, would be considered for further selection procedure in Indian Oil.

Ques. Does one have to pay separate application fees to Indian Oil?

Ans. NO.There is no separate application fee to be given to Indian Oil. An aspirant needs to pay the need fees for GATE 2018 only.Details concerning GATE fees are given on the GATE website. Information about GATE is also available on the websites of the 7 IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) and also on Indian Institute of Science’s website.

Ques. Indian Oil appointed from Geology and Geophysics branches via GATE 2016.Are these branches open for an appointment via GATE 2017 too?

Ans. NO, Indian Oil will not be appointing Geology and Geophysics professionals via GATE 2017.

Ques. After submission of the online application, can it be viewed again?

Ans. YES, it can be viewed again, but no change can be made to the details once filled in.

Ques.Where the University does not give % and only gives letter grades/CGPA/OGPA, how to fill in the % of marks in the online application?

Ans. The grade or CGPA should be converted into % as per conversion formula applied by the Institute/University for awarding class or division. In case, such a formula is not available, Indian Oil will have full authority to convert that into % by applying its own process, as it may consider suitable.

Ques. Who is entitled to relaxation/exemptions admissible to People with Disabilities aspirants?

Ans. Persons with Disability of 40% or more will get the benefits admissible to PWD aspirants. Also, it is compulsory that such an aspirant holds a valid disability certificate alloted by the medical board constituted for such purpose.Aspirants, whose degree of disability is less than 40%, are not entitled to any exemption admissible to PWD aspirants.

Ques. Where should an aspirant mail his/her clear application form with an affixed photograph?

Ans. There is no required to mail the finished application after affixing photograph.This application is to be bought at the time of GD/GT and PI.

Ques. Is there any way to apply offline?

Ans. NO, Indian Oil shall not entertain any offline applications.

Ques. GATE organizes its exams in different branches. Will scores from all the papers be considered by Indian Oil?

Ans. NO, Indian Oil will be considering GATE 2017 scores in given branches only.Please refer the details via Indian Oil website.

Ques. How will an aspirant prepare for GATE 2018?

Ans. Subject-wise syllabus of GATE 2017 is available in GATE 2017 brochure, which can be downloaded from GATE 2018 website.

Ques. Can a student appear in GATE 2018 in Electronics and Communication branch for appointment in Indian Oil?

Ans. NO, an aspirant with a degree in Electronics and Instrumentation branch shall be considered for appointment in Indian Oil only in the Instrumentation branch.The branch of engineering in which the aspirant is graduating or has already graduated requires being the same for appearing GATE 2017 examination also.Aspirants with a mismatch in branches will altogether be rejected.

Ques. Is a postgraduate with Masters in Computer Applications (MCA) applicable for applying for the position of Officers/Engineers?

Ans. The qualification requirement for the position of Officers/Engineers is 4-year full time BE/B.Tech from a recognised Indian University/Institute.An aspirant with MCA does not meet the eligibility requirement for Graduate Engineers.

Ques. Is an aspirant need to appear again in GATE this year, even if he/she had already appeared in last year’s GATE?

Ans. YES, ScoreGATE 2017 score is the only valid score to be considered for appointment in Indian A score of GATE 2016 or prior to that will not be considered by Indian Oil for its appointment under this advertisement.

Ques. Is there any upper age limit for appearing in GATE?

Ans. NO, GATE does not have any upper age limit, but Indian Oil has. In Engineering branches, general category aspirants of more than 26 years of age as on June 30, 2017, will not be considered for appointment under Indian Oil. Relaxation in age will be extended to other category aspirants, as prescribed by the Presidential Directive of Government of India.

Ques. Is there any at least % of marks requirement for appearing in GATE?

Ans. NO, GATE does not have any % of marks requirement, but Indian Oil does have. In Engineering branches, General and OBC category aspirants need to score minimum 65% marks in their qualifying bachelor’s degree examination.For other category aspirants, it is relaxed to 55%.In Geology and Geophysics, the at least % of marks is 60% for General and OBC category and 55% for SC/ST/PWD categories respectively.

Ques. Is there any physical fitness criterion for appearing in GATE?

Ans. NO, GATE does not have any physical fitness criteria, but Indian Oil has.The aspirants wishing to appear GATE for appointment in Indian Oil only must go via the pre-employment medical fitness standard of Indian Oil before proceeding with the GATE application procedure.
