IIT Guwahati has announced an official notification for GATE 2018. Deadline for submission of the online application is October 05, 2017. GATE application fee for male aspirants belonging to the unreserved category is INR 1500. For foreign aspirants, the application fee is $100 (US Dollars). All female aspirants and aspirants belonging to SC/ST/PwD must pay INR 750. It is declared that GATE 2018 application forms will be available online on the official website (http://www.gate.iitg.ac.in/) from September 01, 2017.
Aspirants have the choice to change their preferred examination cities until November 17, 2017. GATE 2018 is scheduled to be organizeed on the first two Saturdays and Sundays of February 2018. Results will be declared on March 17, 2018. Response Keys will be announced two weeks after the completion of the exam. Counseling sessions will commence from the second week of April.
Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) is organizeed by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) in the rotation. This test is taken by candidates who wish to pursue Post Graduation courses provideed by the organizing institutes in streams concerned to their Undergraduate stream of Engineering or other degrees.
A vast majority of colleges, institutes and universities providing Post Graduation courses accept score obtained by aspirants as criteria for admissions into their programs.
GATE scores are also used by companies under Public Sector Undertaking (PSUs) as a vital criterion for appointment.
GATE is designed to test the candidate’s extensive understanding of undergraduate subjects like engineering/architecture/technology.
Based on the choice of Undergraduate degree stream and the PG stream, aspirants must select one of the 23 papers available in GATE. Participants must make this choice at the time of GATE Application form filling itself.
Only one subject or section, General Aptitude, will remain common to all of the 23 GATE paper as far as syllabus is related.

In the official notification announced by the organizing authority, this time only application fee for Foreign Aspirants is increased by $50(US Dollars). In GATE 2018 notification there is no other such changes mention in examination format. Hence, the changes that were implemented for GATE 2017 shall continue to remain for GATE 2018. It is now $100 whereas last year it was $50.
