IIT Guwahati, Application Process Starts in September GATE 2018

GATE 2018 (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) will be organizeed by IIT Guwahati in February 2018. Last time IIT Guwahati organizeed GATE in the year 2010. The exam will be held on Feb 3-4 and Feb 10-11.

  • GATE is the single evaluation test via which candidates are admitted to postgraduate courses in engineering at all IITs, NITs and Indian Institute of Science (IISc).
  • GATE score is also considered by PSUs for appointing aspirants for various posts for engineering and throughout the country.

Around 1 million students take this competitive examination every year in order to seek admission into elite Engineering institutions of India. The dates of the exam are previous than expected. In 2017, IIT Roorkee was the entrance examination organizing body.

  • Once the notification has been announced, then the candidates will be able to check the detailed notification at gate.iitg.ac.in.

Application Form of GATE 2018

Candidates will have to fill GATE 2018 application form via GATE Online Application Procedures System (GOAPS). Aspirants can refer to the amount of application fee to be paid for various categories mentioned below.


Application Fee for GATE 2018

For General aspirants, the application fee is INR 1,500, for women candidates and SC/ST/PwD category aspirants it is INR 750 and for all the international aspirants it is $50.

Aspirants who have finished the graduation in their respective branches are applicable for the exam. Aspirants who are appearing for final semester exams can apply for GATE as well.

Although there is no there is no at least or maximum age requirement to take the exam and graduation is the need educational qualification, but for each course, the eligibility criteria are different.

From the year 2012, the examination has been used by the PSUs in their appointment procedure also and the number of PSUs using the GATE score has increased steadily. GATE 2016 score was also used for the appointment of positions in the Cabinet Secretariat in the Government of India.


Exam Format of GATE 2018

There will be 65 questions carrying 100 marks in the GATE 2018 Exam. Aspirants can refer to the table given below in order to understand the GATE 2018 exam format in a better way:

There will be Multiple Choice Questions and Numerical Response Questions in the GATE 2018 exam.

  • These questions are objective in nature and each question will have the choice of four responses, out of which the aspirant has to mark the accurate response.
  • In all the sections, every question will be of 1 or 2 marks.

Numerical Response Questions

  • The response to these questions is a real number to be entered by using a mouse and virtual keypad displayed on the monitor.
  • A numeric response question carries 1 or 2 marks questions in every section.
  • There will be no negative marking for these questions.
  • There will be no choices available for numerical response questions.

Furthermore, the IIT Bombay will organize the Joint Admission Test for M Sc. (JAM) 2018, the dates of which are not yet announced.
