IISc (Indian Institute of Science) Bangalore - Tops NIRF Ranking 2018

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) announces the list of top institutes/ universities on the basis of National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking. While IIT Madras is remarkably in the first position as the best engineering institute from last 3 years. For the year 2018, the MHRD has announced the NIRF ranking and IISc Bangalore tops the continuously for the second time under University Ranking 2018.

There are different parameters that are fixed while deciding the rankings of the colleges and universities. Following parameters are used in NIRF Ranking:

  1. Teaching, Learning & Resources: Total Marks: 100
  • Student Strength including Doctoral Students: 20 Marks
  • Faculty-student ratio with emphasis on permanent faculty (FSR): 30 Marks
  • Combined metric for Faculty with PhD (or equivalent) and Experience (FQE): 20 Marks
  • Total Budget and Its Utilisation (CBTU): 30 Marks
  1. Outreach and Inclusivity: Total Marks: 100
  • Percent Students from other states/countries (Region Diversity RD): 30 Marks
  • Facilities for Physically Challenged Students (PCS): 20 Marks
  • Percentage of Women (WF) + (WS) + (WA): 25 Marks
  • Economically and Socially Challenged Students (ESCS): 25 Marks
  1. Graduation Outcomes: Total Marks: 100
  • The percentage for Placement, Entrepreneurship and Higher Studies took together (GPHE): 40 Marks
  • Metric for University Examinations GUE: 15 Marks
  • Metric for Graduating Students Admitted Into Top Universities (GTOP): 15 Marks
  • Median Salary: 20 Marks
  • Metric for Number of Ph.D. Students Graduated GPHD: 10 Marks

  • Combined metric for Publications (PU): 30 Marks

Admission in IISc Bangalore via JEE Advanced

IISc Bangalore provides admission to 4-year Bachelor of Science (Research) program. Aspirants who are appearing in class 12 or have passed in 2017 are applicable to apply for admission in Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

  • Qualifying subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as major subjects.
  • Percentage Need: 60% or equivalent grade in PUC or class 12 examination. SC/ST aspirants are relaxed to pass class.

Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD and Kashmiri-Migrant (KM) aspirants will be as per the Government of India regulations.

How to Apply for Admission in IISc Bangalore

The procedure of applying for admission in Bachelor of Science (Research) in IISc Bangalore is clearly online. The forms can be submitted by accessing www.iisc.ac.in/ug from February 01 - April 30, 2018. The application fee is INR 500 for General/OBC/KM aspirants. While the application fee for SC/ST/PWD category aspirants is INR 250.

The application fee can be paid only through online method - Net-banking, Visa Card/ Master Card, Debit/Credit Cards.
