IBPS RRB Exam Pattern 2018

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) organizes an online entrance examination called IBPS RRB examination for the candidates want employment in the Regional Rural Banks.

The format of IBPS RRB 2018 examination is various for aspirants want employment as Office Assistants, Officers Scale I and Officers Scale II and Scale III. Candidates for the post of Office Assistants required being successful in two examinations, namely, IBPS RRB Preliminary exam followed by IBPS RRB Mains Examination.

IBPS RRB 2018 will include two papers- Prelims and Main. Aspirants aiming for the post of Officers Scale I must go one step further after the Preliminary Exam and Mains Exam. The shortlisted aspirants for the post of the Officers Scale I will be called in for an Individual Interview for the final selection.

IBPS RRB Preliminary Exam, to be organized in the month of November 2018, includes 80 questions worth 1 mark each and consists of two sections, namely Reasoning and Numerical Ability. Other details regarding IBPS RRB Exam Format have been mentioned here. IBPS RRB Mains examination, organized in the second week of November 2018, is for 200 marks. Similar to Preliminary examination format, there is negative marking of 1/4th or 0.25 for every wrong response.   All sections have equal weight, there is 0.25 mark deduction for every wrong response and the period of Preliminary Exam is 45 minutes. There are five sections that aspirants must attempt, namely Reasoning, Numerical Ability, General Awareness, English/Hindi Language and Computer Knowledge and the period of the exam is 2 hours.

IBPS RRB 2018 Preliminary Examination Format

IBPS RRB Preliminary Examinations is an online test consisting of two subjects, Reasoning, and Numerical Ability. Each section has 40 questions and period of the exam is 45 minutes. Each section is worth 40 marks and the negative mark deducted for wrong response is 0.25 marks.

IBPS RRB 2018 Main and Single Online Entrance Examination Format

IBPS RRB Main and Single Online Entrance Examination is an online test comprising five subjects, Reasoning, Numerical Ability, General/Financial Awareness, Language and Computer Knowledge. Reasoning and Numerical Ability (Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation) section has 40 questions and is for 50 marks each. The penalty for wrong response is 1/4th of the total marks allotted. Period of the examination is 2 hours. Computer Knowledge includes 40 questions and is for 20 marks. General/Financial Awareness and Language sections are worth 40 marks.

The exception is made for aspirants applying for Specialist Cadre. The examination includes 240 questions and is for 2.5 hours. They will have to attempt an extra subject ‘Professional Knowledge’ for 40 marks. Reasoning and Numerical Ability sections are for 40 marks and Language section is for 20 marks.

  • Reasoning, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation, Financial Awareness and Professional Knowledge sections are worth 40 marks each.

IBPS RRB 2018 Examination Syllabus

Aspirants applying for various posts amongst Office Assistants, Officers Scale I and Officers Scale II and Scale III, must appear for IBPS RRB examinations. Those who are applying for the post of Officers Scale II and Scale III required attempting Single Online Entrance Test, while the aspirants applying for the post of Office Assistants and Officers Scale I required to appear for IBPS RRB Preliminary Exam initially and then qualify for IBPS RRB Main Examination. Subjects covered in IBPS RRB Single Online Entrance Test and IBPS RRB Main Examinations comprise Reasoning, Numerical Ability (Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation), Financial Awareness, English/Hindi Language and Computer Knowledge. This subject is common to IBPS RRB Prelims, Main, and Single Online Entrance Test. The main emphasis of this subject is to test logical reasoning and problem-solving techniques. Basic concepts comprise:

General Instructions

  1. Carry your hall ticket, affixed with recent passport size photograph, and a photo identification proof along with a copy of the photo identification proof to the examination center.
  2. Make sure that you do not end up applying for more than one post (Scale I or Scale II or Scale III).
  3. In case the candidate required a scribe, he/she must make sure that scribe is not a participant of IBPS RRB exam. If the scribe is establishing to be a participant of IBPS RRB exam, both the aspirant and the scribe shall be immediately disqualified.
  4. Aspirants must be at accurate examination center on given date on time. No re-examination will be organized under any circumstances.
  5. Those who are appearing for the examination must know their roll number, examination center location and the examination center code.
  6. Aspirants, at all costs, must follow the instructions given by examiners during the examination.
  7. Rough work must be done in separate additional sheets. Aspirants must not use response scripts to do any sort of rough calculation. Upon completion of the exam, aspirants must return rough work additional sheets along with the response scripts.
