IAS Mains 2018 will be held in the last week of October 2018. Applications procedure will conclude by August 2018. Personals who complete the Prelims stage must register for the Mains exam. The exam will constitute of nine papers.
Results for IAS Mains 2018 will be released in December 2018 by the commission. Participants who qualify the Mains exam will have to appear for the Interview round that holds 25% weightage in the final merit list. They will be appointed in different departments as per their position in the merit list.
IAS exam is considered to be the toughest government exam. It aims at selecting the best out of the best students to become Grade A officers. Every year more than 11 lakh personals register for IAS. The screening procedure is such that only 15,000 applicants qualify for the Mains exam and less than 3,000 for the Interview round.
IAS Prelims will be held in June 2018. Aspirants who have completed IAS Prelims must apply for the Mains exam. They must visit the official website of UPSC i.e. www.upsc.gov.in. The important dates for IAS Mains 2018 are given in the table below:

IAS Mains 2018 Application Procedure will begin in August. Aspirants must ensure that they meet the academic, age and citizenship criteria to be applicable for the exam. Applications will be accepted only in the online method on the official website of UPSC.
IAS Mains 2018 Registration will be done in two parts followed by payment of application fees. Here are some quick highlights
In the 2nd stage of registration, candidates must fill up qualification and communication details. Aspirants will need to upload scanned copies of their recent photograph and signature to clear the application procedure. They must select their preferred exam centre and upload certain documents.
IAS Mains exam will consist of nine conventional essay type papers. Candidates should complete the qualifying papers by securing the need marks for the consideration of other merit papers. There will be two qualifying and seven merit papers.
Candidates can attempt the papers in both English and Hindi language. The period of each paper is 3 hours. Extra time of 20 minutes will be offered for blind applicants.
The total weightage of IAS Mains 2018 written exam is 1750 marks. Students must complete all the papers personally to move to the final Interview round.
The qualifying subjects are two language papers out of which one is English. The other subject is the Indian language paper which should be chosen by applicants from the languages mentioned in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution. However, the Indian language paper will not be compulsory for participants belonging to the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland and Sikkim.
Maximum marks for both papers are 300 each. Candidates must attain minimum 25% aggregate (75 marks) in each to fulfil the at least qualifying standards in these subjects. These papers will be of matriculation or equivalent level. The marks secured in these papers will not be counted for ranking.
The remaining seven papers will be on varied subjects which will be used for merit preparation. There will be two optional papers in which personals must choose the subject from the list offered by UPSC. A variety of subjects like Law, Medical Sciences, Management, Engineering and pure sciences can be attempted.

IAS Main 2018 Cut off will be announced after the results are declared. Participants must complete the cut off declared by UPSC to be applicable for the next round. The cut off for the earlier year is given below: They must secure the at least need marks as per their category.
IAS Mains 2018 Result will be declared 15 days after the exam. It will likely be released in December 2018 on the official UPSC website.
It is the final stage of IAS selection process. The final result will be declared after considering the performance of applicants in both IAS Mains exam and interview. It will be organizeed at the UPSC office in New Delhi.
IAS Interview will be declared in April 2018. Personals who emerge victoriously will be appointed by different departments of the civil services.
