HPCET 2018 Exam Format will give an insight into the syllabus, duration, language medium and marks distribution. The format will be decided by Himachal Pradesh Technical University.
Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test (HPCET) is a national level entrance exam providing admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate engineering courses. The participants can opt to choose from different streams like B.Tech, B.Pharmacy, M.Tech, M.pharmacy, MCA in universities and affiliated colleges across Himachal Pradesh.

The exam will be organized in the offline method where aspirants will be offered with OMR sheets. The period of the exam is 3 hours. There will be three sections in the paper that will be based upon the stream and level aspirant has applied for. There will be multiple response questions in the exam.
The exam format is various for each stream. Aspirant will be honored 2 marks for each accurate response and ½ marks will be deducted for each wrong answer selected by the aspirant.
The test for the bachelors contains 150 objective questions that are to be solved in the period of three hours. The questions are multiple response types with four options for each question.

The exam will be of 300 marks where aspirant has to response 100 objective questions in the period of 3 hours.

The test will consist of 100 questions for two hundred marks that have to be finished in the period of 2 hours.

The entrance test will consist of 100 multiple choice based questions. Aspirants will be given a period of 3 hours for the test.

In the marking scheme for HPCET 2018, there is negative marking for each wrong response selected by the aspirant. Multiple answers selected by aspirant will be counted as an inaccurate answer and the marks will be deducted accordingly. Though the unattended questions will not be marked negatively or marked at all.
Each right response will fetch two marks for the aspirant. Whereas, with each wrong answer ½ marks out of the total marks scored by aspirant will be deducted.
The syllabus contains two Sections A and B. Section – A pertains to the Theory Part having 80% weight, while Section – B contains Practical Component (Experimental Skills) having 20% weight.
