HPCET Exam Pattern 2018

HPCET 2018 Exam Format will give an insight into the syllabus, duration, language medium and marks distribution. The format will be decided by Himachal Pradesh Technical University.

  • The questions will be objective only in OMR sheet pattern that has to fill by aspirant at the time of the exam.
  • The exam will be organized in the month of May.
  • Period for the exam- 3 hours
  • The syllabus for HPCET 2018 for the undergraduate level will include the 10+2 level of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  • Total number of questions- for Bachelors’ courses-150 (50 from each section), for Master’s courses- 100, For MBA and MCA- 100
  • The exam is organized in offline mode.
  • For post-graduate level, the syllabus will cover the subjects according to the stream aspirants have applied for.

Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test (HPCET) is a national level entrance exam providing admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate engineering courses. The participants can opt to choose from different streams like B.Tech, B.Pharmacy, M.Tech, M.pharmacy, MCA in universities and affiliated colleges across Himachal Pradesh.

HPCET Exam Format 2018 in Detail

The exam will be organized in the offline method where aspirants will be offered with OMR sheets. The period of the exam is 3 hours. There will be three sections in the paper that will be based upon the stream and level aspirant has applied for. There will be multiple response questions in the exam.

The exam format is various for each stream. Aspirant will be honored 2 marks for each accurate response and ½ marks will be deducted for each wrong answer selected by the aspirant.

B.Tech/ B.Pharmacy

The test for the bachelors contains 150 objective questions that are to be solved in the period of three hours. The questions are multiple response types with four options for each question.

The entrance test will consist of 100 multiple choice based questions. Aspirants will be given a period of 3 hours for the test.

HPCET 2018 Marking Scheme

In the marking scheme for HPCET 2018, there is negative marking for each wrong response selected by the aspirant. Multiple answers selected by aspirant will be counted as an inaccurate answer and the marks will be deducted accordingly. Though the unattended questions will not be marked negatively or marked at all.

Each right response will fetch two marks for the aspirant. Whereas, with each wrong answer ½ marks out of the total marks scored by aspirant will be deducted.

  • Marking scheme: 2 marks for each accurate response
  • Negative marking: Half (1/2 or 0.5) of the marks will be deducted for each inaccurate response

Syllabus for HPCET 2018

The syllabus contains two Sections A and B. Section – A pertains to the Theory Part having 80% weight, while Section – B contains Practical Component (Experimental Skills) having 20% weight.

HPCET 2018 Important Instructions

There are few guidelines that must be followed by the aspirant to avoid concession/delay/prohibiting the exam:

  • The questions will be given in English language only. Any alternate language method or question paper will not be offered for the exam.
  • For marking the answers, only blue or black ball point pen must be used. The circles must be clearly filled as per the instructions offered on the OMR sheet.
  • Un-attempted questions will not be marked.
  • Aspirants must remember to carry the original as well as the photocopy of their hall ticket and an ID proof to enter the exam hall.
  • Multiple answers to the same question will be regarded as inaccurate and hence, will be subject to half a mark deduction.
  • HPCET 2018 will be organized in the offline method only. An OMR sheet will be given to aspirants for marking the responses.
  • The total time period of the exam will be three hours and two hours for the MBA/MCA exams. Aspirants must try to access the examination hall on time.
