Graduate Management Admission Test 2018 (GMAT 2018)

GMAT 2018 (Graduate Management Admission Test) is a worldwide level entrance examination organized every year for admitting candidates into MBA, Masters in Finance, Masters in Accountancy and other such courses provided by GMAC affiliated institutes. The exam is organized 6 days a week throughout the year.

Registration for GMAT 2018 can be done 6 months prior to the test date preferred by participants. They can download information brochure and fill up the online application form on the official website- www.mba.com. Participants will need to enter general details about themselves and their academic qualifications. The registration can be done online or via phone call, postal mail or fax.

GMAT 2018 is a computer-based test i.e. the method of the test is online. The paper will consist of 4 sections namely- Analytical Writing Section, Quantitative Section, Verbal Skills and Integrated Reasoning Section. The medium of language will be English only and period of the exam is 3 hours and 30 minutes with a maximum score of 800 points.

Participants will have an option of accepting their score or cancel it as per their choice.

GMAT 2018 will be organized in about 112 countries all over the world and the scores will be accepted by more than 2,100 institutions and universities. More than 35,000 students appear for GMAT in India alone for admission to about 6000 business schools based on this test’s score.

Exam Dates for GMAT 2018

There are no specific exam dates for taking GMAT 2018 exam. Students can appear for the test throughout the year. They can choose their examination date, center and time as per their convenience.

The participants must be careful while choosing the exam date. They must take into account all procedures of the exam like time need for registration, payment of fees and availability of scorecard so that they can apply for different programs within the stipulated admission time. The exam can be scheduled anywhere from 6 months to 24 hours prior to the exam.

The time gap between 2 attempts of the test is 16 days. Maximum attempts for the exam is 5 times within a duration of 12 months. It should also be noted that aspirants cannot take more than 8 re-tests in their lifetime

Eligibility Criteria for GMAT 2018

The organizing body GMAC has not specified any specific eligibility norms for GMAT 2018. The eligibility criteria of various institutions will be eligible for admission. Students must, however, ensure that they meet certain at least eligibility requirements before applying for the exam. Each participating institution will have a various criterion. The different criteria are as said below:

Nationality

Participants belonging to all countries of the world can apply for the test. There is no restriction regarding the nationality of the participant.

Age Limit

The ideal age for applying for the exam is 18 years and above. It should also be noted that students between the ages of 13 to 17 years are also applicable for the test but they will require the permission/ consent of their parent or guardian. There is no upper age limit.

Number of Attempts

The maximum number of attempts for GMAT 2018 in 12-month time duration is 5. The lifetime limit of attempts for the exam for a participant is 8.

Academic Qualification

The at least academic qualification for admission is a graduate degree from a recognised institute. All participating institutes will have various academic qualifications.

GMAT Application Form 2018

Aspirants can apply for GMAT 2018 throughout the year according to their convenience. They have to first register for the exam. The steps involved in the application process are: They will need to fill up general details like individual information and educational qualifications.

Registration

The registration can be done through an online method on the official website of GMAT or through phone/postal mail/fax. The steps involved in online registration and application are as said below:

  • Next, select the ‘Schedule a GMAT Exam’ option.
  • Log on to GMAT website www.mba.com  and click on ‘Register’ tab.
  • Fill up general details like name, email address and then choose a password to create an account.

Filling Application Form

As soon as you register, an e-mail will be sent containing password of the account created. Use the login credentials and clear the application form by performing following steps:

  • Offer necessary information about individual details and academic qualifications.
  • Click on ‘submit’
  • Choose the preferred test date and center.

Payment of Application Fee

  • Enter the need details. Note that bank charges may apply for online payment process.
  • Upon submitting the clearly filled application form, aspirants will be redirected to payment window.
  • Pay US $ 250 as requisite fees to clear the procedure.

To register through postal mail or fax, aspirants will need to register online on GMAT website and then mail or fax the payment information to pay via cheque or money order. After successful registration, participants will be notified of the same through email.

Application Fee for GMAT 2018

Registration of aspirants for GMAT 2018 will be considered clear only after they pay the requisite fees. The registration fees for the present academic year along with the eligible taxes will be given on the website under ‘Pay for the Test’. The fees for the entrance are the US $ 250 excluding taxes. The different modes of payment are given below:

Online mode- Credit/ Debit Cards

Requisite fee can be paid through the online method using Visa/ MasterCard/ American Express or JCB. If the card is declined for whatsoever reason, the recruitment will be canceled automatically and participants will have to reschedule another test recruitment.

Offline mode- Cashier’s Cheques, Money Order and Individual Cheques

GMAT 2018 Application Fee will be payable to Pearson VUE-GMAT, in US dollars and drawn on a US bank. The cheque or money orders should be for the full amount, including taxes. The present date should be listed, post-dated cheque or money order will not be accepted. It should be received minimum 10 days before the recruitment date to allow time for procedures. Cheque should be duly signed and should have bank name and its location preprinted on its face.

GMAT 2018 Exam Vouchers

Participants can also remit fee through GMAT exam voucher but the vouchers cannot be used for rescheduling test recruitment.

GMAT 2018 Re-scheduling or Cancelling

Participants have the provision of rescheduling or canceling GMAT exam. Cancellations, refunds, and rescheduling fees will apply depending on when the request for change is done. This can be done by logging into their respective accounts or by a phone call to GMAT Customer service of the particular region.

GMAT 2018 Re-scheduling

Students can reschedule the exam by logging into their accounts. They must select the option of ‘Reschedule your GMAT Exam’ and select the appropriate date. The entire amount of registration fee will have to be paid if aspirant reschedules 7 days or fewer prior to the exam date. The rescheduling fee of US $ 50 will have to be paid if aspirant reschedules 7 calendar days before the test.

GMAT 2018 Cancelling Procedure

Candidates can cancel their GMAT 2018 exam by logging into their accounts and selecting the option of ‘Cancel your GMAT Exam’.

They will receive a partial refund fee of US $ 80 if they cancel 7 days before the exam. No refund will be given for cancellation after the stipulated time.

Exam Center for GMAT 2018

GMAT 2018 will be organized in 35 centers across India. It will be held in a total of 31 cities across the nation. The exam will be organized in cities like Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune and Chennai to name a few.

Exam Format for GMAT 2018

GMAT 2018 is a computer-based test organized through online method only. The international level entrance test will consist of 4 sections- Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative and Verbal Section. It will be held in English language only. Period of the exam is 3 hours and 30 minutes.

The exam is adaptive i.e. it sets own difficulty level. The difficulty level increases with the number of right responses and with every wrong response it declines. The difficulty level of the exam in terms of marks ranges from 200-800.

GMAT 2018 follows the system of Scaled Scores i.e. it has an algorithm way to check the responses. There is no uneven distribution of marks and the exam will have few questions for 1 mark and few for 2 marks.

There are two optional breaks of 8 minutes between any two sections. Participants are generally suggested to take breaks to lighten up their mind and then continue the examination.

Syllabus for GMAT 2018

The detailed syllabus for GMAT 2018 is given on their official website. The general standard of the test is given below:

Analytical Writing Assessment: This is the essay section wherein the candidates must write a single essay of 200-300 words on the topic offered by GMAC.

Integrated reasoning: The reasoning questions will be of elementary level and candidates will be asked to evaluate information presented in multiple patterns from multiple sources by solving questions by interpreting graphs, analyzing tables and general reasoning.

Quantitative Aptitude: This section will assess candidate’s ability to analyze data and draw conclusions using reasoning skills. The questions in this section of the GMAT exam will be from Mathematics taught in secondary school classes. Questions concerned to the topics of Geometry, Elementary Algebra, Arithmetic, Permutation and combinations, Exponents and roots, Linear equations, Ratio Proportions and Properties of Integers will be asked.

Verbal Reasoning: This is a relatively challenging section. Questions about Critical reasoning, Reading unseen passages, Subject-verb agreement, Misplace modifiers Rhetorical construction of the sentences, Sentence correction concerned to finding mistake or omission, Countable Vs Uncountable, Parallelism will be asked in this section.

GMAT Result 2018

Candidates will be shown their unofficial GMAT 2018 Score upon completion of the exam. If they accept it, they will receive a hard copy of the unofficial scorecard at the test center. Participants will have to decide whether to accept this score or cancel it within 2 minutes. They can also cancel their accepted score within 72 hours of the test by selecting the respective option from their registered online accounts. This unofficial score will contain only total marks secured in the Verbal, Integrated Reasoning and Quantitative Assessment sections. They will, however, have to pay a fee of US $ 25 for canceling the score after the test.

The official score report of the accepted score will be announced within 3 weeks of the test. Scorecards can also be sent to additional programs after the need fee is paid. This report will contain total marks secured in each section and percentile ranking of the candidate. The Official Score Reports will be sent to up to five programs that are selected by the candidate on the test day for free. Aspirants will be notified of the same by email.
