KMAT Exam Pattern 2018

Karnataka Private PG Colleges Association (KPPGCA) will announce the notification and KMAT 2018 Exam Format on its official website www.kmatindia.com.

KMAT 2018 (Karnataka Management Aptitude Test) will include multiple-choice questions (MCQs) i.e. objective type questions.

  • It is a pen and paper-based test i.e. the method of the exam is offline.
  • The total number of questions asked in the entrance test will be 120.
  • The question paper will be divided into 3 sections- Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Ability and Logical Reasoning.
  • Aspirants will have to mark their responses on an OMR sheet.
  • Every accurate response will be honored +4 marks and negative marking scheme will be eligible.
  • The maximum marks an aspirant can score is 480.
  • The period of the exam is 2 hours (120 minutes).
  • The medium of language will be English only.
  • Each question will have 4 alternative answers suggested as responses, out of which a student must select the most suitable one.

The syllabus will be of secondary school level. The difficulty level is stated to be moderate. Questions will be asked from topics covered till class 10 of school.

KMAT Exam Format 2018 in Detail

KMAT 2018 is a conventional pen and paper-based test. The question paper will be available in the English language only. The maximum marks an aspirant can score in KMAT 2018 are 480. The exam will include of 120 objective questions to be solved within 120 minutes. Candidates must choose the most suitable response out of 4 alternative options.

The question paper will be segregated into 3 sections- Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Ability and Logical Reasoning. There is no time restriction of solving a particular section within a limited time.     Candidates can choose to attempt any section as they seeking. They will need to mark their responses on an OMR sheet.

Verbal Ability and Reading Skills: This section will test the participant’s knowledge and proficiency in the English language. The total number of questions asked in this section will be 40.

Quantitative Ability: This section will assess the basic mathematical ability of personals. The total number of questions asked in this section will be 40. This section is considered to be relatively a scoring section and difficulty level for this section is class 10th level.

Logical Reasoning: The logical skills section is designed to evaluate the understanding of formats from the data given and to test the visualization power of students. This section will include 40 questions.

Marking Scheme for KMAT 2018

Candidates must know the marking scheme in order to decide how to attempt the questions in the entrance exam. The marking scheme is said as follows: There has been no change in the marking scheme of KMAT 2018 and it is the same as it was for the year 2017. It should be noted that negative marking will be eligible for the test.

  • No mark will be deducted from the total score of the participant for leaving a question blank or failure in attempting it.
  • There will be the penalty of marks, charged for marking inaccurate or wrong responses i.e. negative marking is eligible. For every incorrect response, -1 mark will be deducted from the total score of aspirants.
  • The marking of two options by aspirants will be considered as a wrong response and negative marking will be eligible accordingly.
  • +4 marks will be honored to students for marking every correct response.

Exam Syllabus for KMAT 2018

The syllabus for KMAT 2018 is based English, Mathematics, and Logic of secondary school level knowledge. It will be as decided by KPPGCA for every section. The section wise syllabus is given as follows: Candidates must make sure that they follow the right syllabus to prepare well for the exam.

Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension Syllabus

This section will assess the grasp a participant has in the English language. The test paper will include questions based on a given passage. To response the questions, they must comprehend the contents of the passage and utilize accurate phrases, words, and expressions. Via this section, individual’s vocabulary, grammar and comprehension skill is tested.

Quantitative Ability Syllabus

This section of the exam assesses the participant’s ability to solve numerical problems with accuracy and speed. To ace this section, they must have a good understanding of basic mathematical concepts. It will comprise questions to evaluate how aspirants can work with numbers, do numerical calculations and understand different arithmetic problems. The questions in this section shall be of matriculation standard.

Logical Reasoning Syllabus

This section will determine a participant’s ability to think accurately and quickly. Candidates are advised to read a newspaper to know the different events happening around them. This section will also have a few questions about General Knowledge and Present Affairs. Questions about verbal reasoning and analogy will be asked. Students can expect questions on diagrams and figures as also verbal reasoning in this section.

KMAT 2018 Important Instructions for Aspirants

All aspirants must ensure that they follow some rules and regulations to maintain the decorum of the exam hall and to ensure that the examination proceeds properly.

  • Attendance will be taken by the examiners current in the exam hall, on the attendance sheets. Aspirants will have to put their full signatures against their corresponding roll numbers.
  • No participant will be permitted to create any disturbance inside the examination hall. Any gesture or communication between personals will be treated as the breach of rules and action will be taken accordingly.
  • The identity of students will be verified and they will undergo a security check.
  • They must ensure that they fill up the details properly on the question booklet.
  • Participants must report to the test center minimum 1 hour prior to the test.
  • They must bring the Hall Ticket duly finished with photograph and a valid photo ID proof, Black or Blue ballpoint pen and other need stationery.
  • No individual will be permitted to leave the exam venue before the exam time is concluded. Once the participant leaves the room, he will not be permitted to re-enter the exam hall under any circumstances.
  • To mark a response on the OMR sheet, participants must darken the bubble in a prescribed way otherwise it will not be considered.
  • Personals must enter their registration numbers, response sheet number and question series number against their roll number on the sheet that will be offered to them in the exam hall.
  • For any technical assistance, first aid emergency or any information regarding the exam, students can approach the Centre Superintendent/ Examiner in the room.
  • Items that are forbidden like slide rulers, calculator, logarithm table, mobile phones etc. will not be allowed inside the exam center.
