CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) Syllabus 2018

CLAT Syllabus 2018 will be released by National Law Institute University (NLIU) Bhopal. The syllabus for CLAT is various for LLB and LLM programs. For the academic session 2018-19, CLAT Syllabus is similar to as that of last year. It describes the topics that are important to study and have been coming over the years.

Here is the subject-wise CLAT Syllabus in brief:

  • CLAT Syllabus for LLB program will cover topics from English including Comprehension, General Knowledge & Present Affairs, Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability), Legal Aptitude, and Logical Reasoning. Here, higher weightage is given to General Knowledge, Present affairs, and Legal Aptitude. There will be a total of 200 questions from this section.
  • CLAT Syllabus for LLM program will cover topics from Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, and other law subjects such as Contract, Torts, Criminal Law, International Law, Environment Law and Human Rights. Here, equal weightage is given to constitutional law and Jurisprudence section. There will be a total of 150 questions from this section.

CLAT 2018 will be organizeed in May 2018, for both the programs. In order to withstand the competition, CLAT candidates should optimize their preparation plan according to CLAT Syllabus. Check  CLAT 2017 Paper Analysis  It is expected that the competition for law entrance exam will be high. Last year almost 47,106 students took CLAT 2017.This number is 93% of those who registered.

CLAT Exam Format for LL.B. Program

  • Aspirants have to attempt 200 questions in total.
  • Each question will carry one mark.
  • CLAT Exam Format for Under Graduate level focus on these 5 sections -English (Comprehension), General Knowledge & Present Affairs, Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability), Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning.

CLAT Exam Format for LL.M. Program

  • Aspirants need to attempt all the 150 Questions. 
  • All questions carry one mark each.
  • CLAT Exam Format for Post Graduate level focuses on- Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, and Contract, Torts, Criminal Law, International Law, IPR etc.

CLAT Syllabus for English

English section will assess an aspirant’s English language skills. An aspirant has to attempt a total of 40 questions in this section.

  • In the comprehension section, one will be questioned on their understanding of the passage and its central theme, meanings of words used therein, etc.
  • The grammar section requires correction of inaccurate grammatical sentences, filling in blanks in sentences with suitable words, etc.
  • It will be tested on the basis of comprehension passages and grammar.

CLAT Syllabus for Elementary Mathematics

  • It comprises both the basic mathematical concepts and certain modern mathematical concepts.
  • Make sure to brush up all the basic formulas and concepts of Class 10th and 12th
  • CLAT contains 20 questions from this section.
  • Via this section, the examination gauges the fundamental arithmetic skills of aspirants.
  • The questions will be asked mostly from the class 10th Mathematics. Hence, the level of questions will be easy to moderate.

    CLAT Syllabus for Logical Reasoning 2018

    • This section is devised to evaluate an aspirant’s ability to analytically comprehend various aspects of a situation or scenario and logically derive solutions.
    • The section will also cover a variety of logical aptitude questions including syllogism, logical sequences, analogies, etc. However, the logical reasoning section will not have visual reasoning questions.
