CAT Cutoff 2018 for JBIMS Admission - Expected Cutoff & Eligibility Criteria

Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies(JBIMS) in Mumbai is one of the renowned MBA colleges in India. There are 137 seats in the MMS programme. The college is preferred by aspirants ready to pursue Masters in Management Studies(MMS) or MSc Finance.

  • International aspirants, on the other hand, are admitted on the basis of GMAT score.
  • Admission to these full-time management programmes at JBIMS is done on the basis of CAT Cutoff for Indian students.
  • Aspirants who secure the at least cutoff marks in CAT are called for further selection rounds.
  • CAT 2018 Cut off for JBIMS is 95 percentile for General category and 75 percentile for the reserved category aspirants.
  • Admission at JBIMS Mumbai is done via a Centralized Admission Procedure (CAP) by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Maharashtra. The procedure is expected to begin in May/June 2018.
  • Scores of MHCET are also accepted for admission.

JBIMS Admission 2018 Eligibility Criteria

MMS 

  • Appearing aspirants are also applicable to apply.
  • Aspirants must have a Bachelor’s degree of at least three years period with an at least of 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA in any branch from any recognised University.
  • Aspirants of Backward class categories and Persons with Disability belonging to Maharashtra State only must have 45% aggregate marks.

MSc Finance

  • Students with a background in Finance, Statistics, Mathematics and other quantitative areas will be preferred
  • Appearing aspirants are also applicable to apply.
  • Aspirants must have a Bachelor’s degree of at least three years period with a at least of 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA in any branch from any recognised University.
  • Aspirants of Backward class categories and Persons with Disability belonging to Maharashtra State only must have 45% aggregate marks.
  • Aspirants must have opted for Mathematics at the higher secondary level or at the first year of the degree course.

JBIMS Admission 2018 Criteria

Admission Criteria for admission to JBIMS on the basis of CAT score consist of three stages. 

  1. The first stage is to appear in CAT 2018 and score above the cut off marks.
  2. In the second stage, aspirants academic profile is made based on the CAT 2018 score and earlier academic records. 
  3. Based on the academic profile, aspirants are shortlisted and called for Stage 3 i.e. In-person round assessment. Aspirants have to go via Group Activity, Individual Interview, and Writing Ability Test. Based on aspirants’ performance in all the rounds, aspirants are called for admission.

Stage 1: CAT 2018

As per JBIMS, CAT 2018 qualified aspirants will be shortlisted for their performance in the examination and will be called for admission process.

Stage 2: Application Rating(AR)

To be considered for the profile evaluation aspirants not only required to complete the CAT 2018 cut off mentioned above but also required to meet the Past Academic Record cutoff. 

  • General aspirants must have 65% or above aggregate in Class X and 60% or above aggregate at 10+2 level (Relaxation of 5% is given to Reserved Category students).
  • Aspirant's profile is used to shortlist aspirants for the third stage of the admission procedure i.e. In-person assessment.  
  • Aspirants meeting the need cutoffs are called for the In-person assessment round.
  • In this, participants profile is rated based on CAT score, Past academic Record, Work experience, Diversity, etc.

Stage 3: In-Person Assessment Round (IPA)

The IPA round consists of group activity, individual interview and writing ability test.

Group Activity

  • In Group Activity, aspirants are divided into a group of 8-10 applicants. Group is given a topic to perform or clear as a team within 20-30 minute. In Group Activity, committee normally checks for leadership qualities, confidence, content, and delivery. It’s a procedure to screen the Candidates’ potential as well as their skills. 

Individual Interview

  • It is designed to assess Candidates’ confidence, thought clarity, interindividual and soft skills. Individual Interview period depends totally on Candidates.
  • The purpose of organizing a personal interview is to explore the answers of the Candidate, his/her interindividual and soft skills, confidence and thought clarity to gather more and deeper information/understanding about the Candidate.

Writing Ability Test

In this, aspirants are given a topic or a subject to write a 200-500 words article. This tests the writing ability of aspirants.

Stage 4: Selection

  • The final selection of an aspirant is based on his total score. The total of a aspirant is calculated by: Total Score = 0.60 (AR) + 0.40 (IPA). Check How CAT 2018 Score is Calculated?
  • JBIMS evaluates an aspirant’s overall (stage 1 to stage 3) performance and prepares the final list of the selected aspirants. 
  • The at least Total Score needed to be considered for admission to MMS or MSc Finance is 50 for General Category and 45 for Reserved category.
  • These aspirants are provided seats in the management programmes for which they have applied in the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies(JBIMS).
