Frequently Asked Questions

Ques. I have finished my graduation but I got Backlogs in my Fourth semester which I completed later? Is this going to affect my chances of selection?

Ans. No, as long as you fulfill the eligibility conditions of the institute this is not going to affect the selection. You must qualify the at least requirements as laid by the institute. The eligibility requirements are:

  • You must have a bachelor degree in any branch with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/DA) or equivalent CGPA score; you calculate your CGPA score by the following method:

To calculate the CGPA an aspirant must they must do the following:

CGPA = sum of Grade points (main 5 subjects) divided by 5

For Example

Suppose the GP for-

  • Subject 4 is 9
  • Subject 5 is 7.5
  • Subject 2 is 9
  • Subject 1 is 8
  • Subject 3 is 10

Then the sum of GPs will be: 8+9+10+9+7.5=43.5

Then CGPA= 43.5/5

             = 8.7

 This is your CGPA.

If any aspirant seeking to get overall indicative percentage of marks then

CGPA multiply with 9.5

For Example - 9.5 x 8.7=82.65

Or if your marks are on 20 point scale than you can simply do it by dividing you CGPA score by maximum CGPA score and multiplying by 100. For example:

Your CGPA score is 17 out of 20, 17/20*100 = 85% is your percentage

  • You have met the at least marks criteria for PI, CAT score, WAT score, have a good work experience etc. then you will not face any problem in selection

Ques. I am an engineering stream student and I have got 86 percentile in CAT 2015 given that I do not fall into the category of ADFB which will benefit only non-engineering degree students. Is it going to affect my selection?

Ans. Your concern is valid but doesn’t worry as Academic Diversity Factor at Bachelor Degree carries only 3 points out of 100. You must score good points in all other scores like PI. so as to avoid ADFB becoming a problem for you. CAT score, WAT, and work experience etc.

You have got 86% which won’t be a problem if you are a reserved category aspirant but if you belong to open category then you will face the problem as you don’t qualify to at least percentile criteria for open category students which are 90% or more.  The at least cut off requirements is:

CategorySec 1- QASec 2 – DI & LRSec 3 – VA-RCOverall percentile

Ques. Hello, I am Snehalata Singh, My question is that I don’t have professional Work experience but I have Training of 15 months. Is it valid for availing the work experience points? Also, I have got 93.59 percentile.

Ans. Sorry but you cannot get work experience point on the basis of Training or Internship as per the rules you must have managerial work experience and training/ project work/ Internship or work was done under curriculum requirements will not be considered for giving work experience point.

But you don’t worry as you have a good percentile and you will also get 3 points under Gender Diversity factor and this year Academic Diversity Factor at Bachelor Degree level is added which is if you hold the degree other than engineering then you will get 3 points. This makes total 6 points so you don’t worry about work experience points. You will get selected if you meet the at least marks requirements in the final selection.

Ques. I am an NC - OBC category student. I seeking to know that which reservation policy will be applied at the time of admission - state reservation policy or Central Reservation Policy. And I have got 46% at the graduate level.

Ans. IIM Bodhgaya applies Central Reservation policy as founded by Government of India for Central Educational Institutions (CEIs) as under:

CategoriesReservation (in %)

SC

15%

ST

7.5%

NC-OBC

27%

DA

3%

Total reserved seats52.5%

As you have got 46% in Bachelor Degree and belong to NC-OBC category; you must fulfill the eligibility criteria for admission failing which your admission will be canceled. The at least eligibility criteria for all categories are:

Open category – 50%

OBC – 50%

SC – 45%

ST – 45%

DA – 45%

Even If you have got 49.98% at graduation, you won’t get admission if you belong to the Open or NC-OBC category and IIM Bodhgaya does not consider rounded off marks.
