AILET Exam Format for B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M and Ph.D. programs will be different. National Law University, Delhi will announce the official format for AILET 2018 shortly.

Listed below are quick facts about AILET Exam Format:

  • The question will be objective in nature.
  • NLU Delhi has not prescribed any specific syllabus for AILET, but it is similar to that of CLAT.
  • The law entrance exams for LLB and LLM is organized in offline mode.
  • Exam period for the exam is 90 minutes each.

AILET Exam Format 2018 for B.A LL.B

B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) program will be of five years. To get admissions to the program, law candidates have to appear for AILET 2018. The paper is divided into five sections viz.

  • General Knowledge (Present Affairs, General Science,  History, Geography, Economics, Civics)
  • Elementary Mathematics
  • English including Comprehension
  • Legal Aptitude and 
  • Logical Reasoning

Detailed AILET LLB Exam Format 2018

Exam Mode

  • The undergraduate law entrance examination is organized in an offline method (Pen and Paper based mode).
  • Aspirants are offered with OMR sheet on which they have to fill their answers.
  • Aspirants have to the answers with HB Pencil.

Type of Questions

  • Aspirants have to mark the most suitable response.
  • There will be four choices to question.
  • Questions in the law entrance examination are objective type i.e. multiple choice questions.

Time Period of AILET Exam

  • Aspirants must adhere to the time limit and try to finish the paper in time.
  • The total period of AILET 2018 is 1 hour 30 minutes (90 minutes).

AILET  2018 Marking Scheme

  • In case, an aspirant marks two responses to a question, it will be treated as a wrong response and there will be a penalty of 0.25 marks.
  • Each question in AILET test paper will carry 1 mark.
  • For unattempted questions, there is no negative marking. 
  • For every accurate answer, the aspirant is honored 1 mark.
  • In case of wrong response, there is a penalty of 0.25 mark.

AILET  2018 Exam Format for LLM

LLM is a post-graduate program for LLB graduates or having an equivalent law degree. The period of the course is one year. The paper is divided into the following sections:

  • In addition to the above, aspirants will also have to write an essay on a given topic.
  • Law of Contracts
  • Legal Theory
  • Constitutional Law
  • Law of Torts
  • Criminal Law

AILET 2018 Ph.D. Exam Format

The program is at least of 2 years and maximum 3 years. It includes two papers viz.

  • Paper 2 – Research Proposal Specific Paper
  • Paper 1 – Research Methodology

About Ph.D. Paper 1

  • The period of exam is 1 hour 30 minutes
  • The paper carries 100 marks 
  • As per the marking scheme, 1 mark will be honored for each accurate response.
  • There are 100 questions of objective type

About Ph.D. Paper 2

  • The proposal can be on the topic which aspirants seeking to pursue a Ph.D.
  • Interested aspirants have to submit a research proposal of not more than 15 pages. 
  • It will carry a total of 100 marks
  • The research proposal shall contain:
    • Research questions, hypothesis, and methodology
    • Statement of problem and background information on the subject
    • Title
    • Research design
