About College
Sourashtra College, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, Sourashtra College is a Linguistic Minority, co-educational College situated in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. It was set up in the year 1967 with the vision and objective of providing the youth especially the Sourashtra minority in the region ample opportunities to have a successful career. A majority of the students hail from weaving families and economically down trodden section. Nearly 90% of the students receive First Graduate Scholarship. NAAC accredits the College. It offers UGC sponsored Certificate and Diploma Courses, aided and self-finances courses including two AICTE approved courses M.B.A., and M.C.A. Courses range from the Sciences, Physical Education, Commerce, Tamil to Information and Technology. PG courses are also offered including M.Phil.

- Ease of facilities: The College has a well-maintained infrastructure including different blocks for different faculties like a Microbiology Block, MBA Block, etc. There are 2 canteens – old and a new one. There is a Student’s Centre, various labs equipped with latest technological tools including projectors and a Library Block for matters relating to academics. The College even has a Research Centre where resources have been provided to students undertaking research. There are clean lavatories and a well-defined parking area for scooters as well as cars. For Sports enthusiasts, there is a 200 meters track, Sports room and a gymnasium worth Rs. 3,00,000, a cricket ground, football ground. Facilities for Volleyball, Kabaddi, Long jump, Carrom, Shot put, Javelin, Discus and Table tennis, etc. are also available. It also has a Punjab National Bank Branch within campus. Competitive and Entrance examinations like TNPSC, UPSC, Annamalai University B.Ed., Examination, Bank Recruitment Examinations and TNPCEE are conducted in the College. The College is also a host to University level functions and sports meets. NCC Camps are also held.
