Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET), Bhopal was established in in 1988 and located near to Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. It is constituent institute of Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) Who is an autonomous institute under the department of chemicals and petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India. It is built in the campus area of 6 acres.

- The centre has been recognized by RGPV Technical University Bhopal (M.P.) as a premier research Institute for carrying out Pre-Doctorate, Doctorate and Post Doctorate Programme in the area of Polymer Science/Material Science and Engineering/ Plastic Engineering and Technology
- The Sagar Institute of Research & Technology Bhopal has identified CIPET Centre Bhopal as a premier Institute for Training and R & D activities of their Engineering students

- The Testing Labs of the centre is accredited by NABL in the field of Mechanical, Chemicals testing of Plastic Materials & products as per ISO /IEC 17025-2005
- The Testing Lab is recognized by Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) for Testing and evaluation of Plastic - materials and products for 45 standards
