Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth (VNMKV) Maharashtra is situated in the western part of the country. It is one of the wealthiest, and the most developed states of the country. Here we are providing a list of Top Agriculture Colleges in Maharashtra 2018. is an agricultural university imparting professional agricultural education, research, and training since its founding in 1956? The university has 12 constituent and 37 affiliated colleges which provide admission to the following Under Graduate degree programmes

Only aspirants with the relevant qualifications can register for the above mentioned programmes. Seats are reserved for people who belong to various categories such as SC/ST/BC BC etc.  as well as special categories viz. Differently-abled, Children of Freedom Fighter etc.

Qualified aspirants can apply via the online application forms available on the official MCAER website and submit them upon completion with the need procedure fee. Admission to the graduate programmes is done on the basis of marks secured by the aspirants in the entrance test.

Eligibility Criteria

B.Sc (Agriculture)

Eligibility: Aspirant should have passed 10+2 standard examination or an equivalent Examination, from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English/pass in Agriculture Polytechnic

B.Sc

The university provides B.Sc. in the following branches:

  • B.Sc. Horticulture (4 years)
  • B.Sc. Agricultural Biotechnology (4 years)
  • B.Tech. Food Technology / B.Sc. Agricultural Biotechnology/ B.Sc. Horticulture, aspirants who have not studied Mathematics shall have to complete deficiency courses as prescribed by respective University during the first year of degree

Note: In case of B.Tech.  Food Technology / B.Sc. Agricultural Biotechnology/ B.Sc. Horticulture, candidates who have not studied Mathematics shall have to complete deficiency courses as prescribed by respective University during the first year of degree

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Home Science)

Eligibility: Aspirant should have passed the 12th standard examination from a recognized board or an equivalent Examination, in Arts / Science / Commerce with English. 

BE/B.Tech

B.Tech. Agricultural Engineering (4 years)

Eligibility: Aspirant should have passed a 12th standard examination from a recognized board or an equivalent Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English.

Step to Apply

B.Sc , BE/B.Tech & B.Sc (Agriculture)
  • The aspirant can download the prospectus and related application form available at the official MCAER website
  • Along with duly filled-in applications, aspirants have to submit an application fee of Rs. 600 (Rs. 300 in case of SC/ST/OBC) via Net Banking or DD or by Challan in state bank of India discipline. Certificate allowed by the Competent Authority
  • ‘No-Objection Certificate’ from the Employer in case of Inservice Aspirant
  • Certificate of Handicapped allowed by the Competent Authority (if applicable)
  • All category Aspirants (including reserved & unreserved) from states other than Maharashtra must pay an application fee of Rs. 600/- via DD
  • Printout of a duly filled-in application along with recent passport size photograph and relevant documents must be sent to any of the Application Receipt Centres of the institution

Note: Aspirants who have passed 10+2 with Agriculture Polytechnic must submit 2 forms. 

Aspirants have to submit an application form along with the following self-attested documents:

    6. 'Non-Creamy Layer Certificate' allowed on or after April 01, 2015 or valid up to the date of submission of application form
    7. Certificate of ‘Project Affected Person’ allowed by the District Resettlement Officer of Government of Maharashtra
    8. N.C.C. ‘B’ or ‘C’ / Air / Naval /Army wing Certificate
    9. Certificate of Games/Sports/Debate/Essay/Elocution allowed by the District Sports Office
    10. 11A Certificate of the Freedom Fighter of the participant’s parents allowed under the signature of the Honourable Prime Minister / Chief Minister of Maharashtra State
    11. N.S.S. The marks of Agriculture Polytechnic should be attached to one copy and marks obtained in the 12th standard should be enclosed with the second form.
    12. ‘No-Objection Certificate’ from the Employer in case of Inservice Candidate
    13. Migrant/Displaced students from Jammu and Kashmir State should submit Certificate from the Competent Authority
    14. Certificate of Handicapped issued by the Competent Authority (if applicable)
    15. Economical Backward Class (EBC) Certificate issued on or after January 01, 2015
  • Admission Procedure

    B.Sc, BE/B.Tech & B.Sc (Agriculture)

    Admission to all Under Graduate programmes shall be done on the basis of marks obtained in Common Entrance Test, organized by MAHARASHTRA COUNCIL OF AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION AND RESEARCH (MCAER).

    Reservation Criteria

    Major Criteria:

    • First 30% seats will be allotted to aspirants who have a domicile of Maharashtra or have passed Higher Secondary School Certificate from the State of Maharashtra.
    • Rest 70% of the total capacity will be allotted to students who have passed qualifying examination from school or institution in the University area.
    • 2% seats are allotted to students from other States.

    Other Criteria:

    • 13% seats are reserved for Schedule Caste.
    • 6% seats are reserved for Agriculturist and Children of Agriculturist who possess minimum qualification or experience in Agriculture.
    • 19% seats are reserved for Other Backward Classes.
    • 8% seats are reserved for Nomadic Tribes.
    • 7% seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribes.
    • 30% seats are reserved for Female aspirants.

    Notes

    Scholarships:

    The following scholarships are offered to the meritorious and deserving aspirants:

    • Merit-cum-Means Scholarship (Government of Maharashtra)
    • The government of India National Loan Scholarship
    • The government of India Merit-cum-means Scholarship (ICAR) / Government of India Post Matric Scholarship to SC and ST aspirants (ICAR) 
    • The government of India Scholarship to reserved category students
    • Free Studentship to the students of Economically Backward Classes 

    Hostel Facility:

    Hostel facility is available for a limited number of students in the colleges of the universities on merit basis. Maharashtra Agricultural Universities Examination Board organizes a state level examination (CET) for providing admission to Aspirants in agriculture courses. Admissions will be done also via the national level examination AIEEA organized by ICAR for selecting Aspirants for admissions in agriculture courses. Aspirants can also apply for admission via university level test organized by the respective authority.
