VELS University, Chennai consists of various schools which provide under-graduate (UG), post-graduate (PG) and research courses in diverse streams such as engineering, management studies, physiotherapy, hotel and catering management, mass communication, basic sciences, life sciences etc.

The School of Engineering at VELS University, Chennai provides the following programmes to its students every year:

  • Master of Engineering (ME)
  • Bachelor of Engineering (BE) 

For admission to the above-mentioned programmes, selection of the aspirant will be done on the basis of their performance in the Vels Entrance  Exam.

The applicable aspirant can obtain application forms via a post by sending a demand draft for Rs. 850/- in favour of "The Registrar, Vels University". Aspirant can also download the application forms from the university website or apply online by submitting the procedures fee of Rs.800/-

BE/B.Tech

Courses Provideed:

Bachelor of Engineering (BE) is provideed in the following branches:

  • B.E. in Civil Engineering
  • B.E. in Computer Science Engineering (CSE)
  • B.E. in Mechanical Engineering
  • B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE)
  • B.E. in Automobile Engineering
  • B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE)

Eligibility: Aspirant must have passed in +2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Maths (PCM)  

B.E. in Marine Engineering 

Eligibility:

  • Aspirant must have secured minimum 50% marks in English at 10 and 10+2 level
  • Aspirant must have passed +2 examination with 60% aggregate marks in PCM grouped
  • Aspirant should be below 25 years of age at the time of admission 
B.E. Coastal and Ocean Engg. 

Eligibility: Aspirant must pass in +2 with aggregate 60% marks in Maths, Physics, and Chemistry


Application Procedure of VELS University Chennai B.E., M.E. Admissions 2018

For applying to B.E and M.E programs of the Vels University, the aspirant can choose any of the following methods:

  • Aspirant can opt for applying online via the official website and the procedures fee can be submitted using Credit Card / Debit Card / Net Banking payment modes
  • The aspirant can download application form and prospectus from the university website and send the duly filled-in applications, along with the procedures fee of Rs. 800/- via demand draft (DD), to the following address:

  • The aspirant can also obtain the form by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope along with the DD of Rs. 550/- to the above-mentioned address. DD should  be drawn in favour of “Registrar, Vels University" payable at Chennai
  • In case of acquiring the application form in person or via post, the aspirant must enclose a DD of Rs. 300/- along with the filled-in applications
  • Aspirant can obtain the application form in person from the Office of Vels University, Chennai upon payment of the procedures fee of Rs.500/- in cash

Enclosures:

At the time of admission, the aspirant must bring the original and photocopies of the following documents:

  1. 3 Passport Size photographs of the aspirant
  2. Two self-addressed stamped (Rs.10/-) envelope
  3. Mark Sheet of the qualifying examination or equivalent.
  4. Provisional Pass Certificate / Degree Certificate of the qualifying examination.
  5. Transfer Certificate and Organize Certificate from the Institute last studied.
  6. Community Certificate.
  7. Entrance examination mark sheet.

For Foreign aspirants:

Foreign aspirants must bring the following documents, original as well as photocopies, at the time of admission:

  1. No Objection Certificate from the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, New Delhi. 
  2. Eligibility Certificate from the respective University
  3. Suitable Student Visa


Selection Procedure of VELS University Chennai B.E., M.E. Admissions 2018

  • Aspirant’s selection will be based on their performance in the VEE and their marks in the qualifying examination.
  • Selected aspirants should report to the Directors of Schools / Heads of the Department on the specified date and time.


Reservation of VELS University Chennai B.E., M.E. Admissions 2018

Students from underprivileged and socially handicapped sections are admitted to the University according to All India Reservation policy.


Important Notes of VELS University Chennai B.E., M.E. Admissions 2018

Scholarships provideed for BE/ME Engineering:

Aspirants get 100% to 10% scholarship in the tuition fee for 1st year only depending upon the aspirant’s rank in All India entrance exam.

Aspirants can get a waiver of the tuition fee for the 1st year depending upon the marks in the exam from any government recognised board as per the following criteria:

  • 95% and above aggregate in PCM – 50% waiver in the Tuition fee for 1st Year
  • 80% – 89.99% Aggregate in PCM – 25% waiver in the Tuition fee for 1st Year
  • 90% – 94.99% Aggregate in PCM – 40% waiver in the Tuition fee for 1st Year
  • 70% – 79.99% Aggregate in PCM – 10% waiver in the Tuition fee for 1st Year

10% fee exemption will be given for First Graduate in Under Graduate Engineering Courses every year.

Hostel Facilities:

For men and women, there are separate hostels within the campus.  

  1. Laundry facility is available on chargeable basis.
  2. The medical attendant is available.
  3. Mess and canteen facility is available.
  4. Indoor and outdoor games are provideed.
