Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), formerly known as the University College of Engineering, Burla, is a UGC recognized Unitary Technical University situated in Burla, Odisha. All the engineering courses of the University are AICTE approved. It is the best institute of technical education running under the government of Odisha. It is the oldest degree-granting engineering institute in Odisha, established as the University College of Engineering (UCE) in 1956.

The scholars of this institute have also been honored with different accolades like the NASA award, and are very active in academic and Technical Events and Participated in 89 Seminars and Technical Design Competitions and won 17 prizes. The campus placement has resulted in many companies such as Wipro, Tata Steel, Tech Mahindra, CMC, and other appointing students from the University.

The University invites applications for admission to the Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) Programme in different specializations for the academic year. A student can complete a four-year programme in not more than beyond eight years from the date of the first admission to the course. The admission to the programme will be based on the Odisha Joint Engineering Entrance Examination 2018.

B.Tech. Programme

The University provides the following specializations under the B.Tech. Programme:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical & Electronics Engineering
  • Computer Science & Engineering
  • Information Technology
  • Production Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering

Eligibility Criteria:

You should have passed the Class 12th (10+2) Examination from a recognized Board, with at least 45% marks for general category and 40% marks in case of SC/ST category.

You should have studied Physics and Mathematics as mandatory subjects at the 10+2 level, with Chemistry or Bio as optional subjects.

VSSUT B.Tech Admissions 2018 How To Apply?


You should reach the Application Form B via the Online Method only, from the website.

Step 1: You should fill the Form with the need for personal and educational information.

Step 2: You should then upload your photograph, signature and your Left-hand Thumb Impression. These must fulfill the following requirements:

Step 3: You should make the payment for the Application Fee of Rs. 1000 via either of the following ways:

  • Remittance via e-Challan by deposit in OJEE Bank Account with State Bank of India (State Bank Collect). You should print the challan and then move to any discipline of State Bank of India discipline and pay the fee. The e-challan form option will be visible.
  • By Debit Card / credit card (VISA / MASTER / Maestro cards/internet banking); or  

Step 4: You should then β€œsubmit” the Application Form online. Your Application procedure is now complete.
After you have submitted, you will get a Confirmation Page. You must take a print out of the Confirmation Page. However, you do not need to send hard copy of the application i.e. confirmation page to OJEE office.

VSSUT B.Tech Admissions Procedure 2018


You will be selected on the basis of the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination. All the three sections of subjects will weigh equally. For admission to the B.Tech. For any un-attempted question, no marks will be deducted. The paper I will be held in offline and online method but Paper-II will only be held in offline mode. For each wrong response, one-fourth of the marks shall be deducted.

You should be able to secure a minimum of 45% marks in case of general category, and 40% marks in case of SC/ST category.

Subjects from which questions would be asked in the exam will be Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics. You will have to mark one response from the given set of 4 options. You will be asked multiple choice type questions in the exam. There would be negative marking for marking inaccurate responses. Programme in Lateral Entry, you will have to appear for the Lateral Entry Test (Engineering Mechanics, Basic Electrical Engineering & Engineering Mathematics).

The paper is for a period of 2 hours with a total of 120 questions.
