Utkal University is a UGC Recognised, AICTE Approved and one of the oldest universities in India founded in 1943.This is the largest affiliating university with 267 affiliated general colleges, 15 law colleges and 6 medical and pharmacy colleges. The university imparts professional /nonprofessional education, research and training.

 Only aspirants with the relevant qualification can register for the above-mentioned programmes. Admission to the above programmes is done on the basis of Entrance examination/ qualifying degree/both. as well as special categories viz. Differently-abled etc. Aspirants can register for admission by filling in the application form and submitting the need procedures fee, on or before June 07, 2018 (tentative). As per the rules of GOI, seats are reserved for people belonging to various categories such as SC/ST/BC etc.

Eligibility Criteria for Utkal University Bhubaneshwar PG Admissions 2018

M.Sc

  • Aspirant must have passed the qualifying degree with at least 50%marks (45 % for SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled etc)
  • For admission to  Anthropology only  aspirants with second class Honours in Anthropology /least second class Honours in the following subjects: Sociology, Psychology, Economics, Political Science, History, and Geography with Anthropology as one of the subject with minimum 50% marks/ Second Class Honours in Zoology, Botany, Biotechnology, Microbiology and Geology are applicable
  • For admission to Biotechnology Aspirants having +3 degree in Physical / Biological Sciences with minimum 55% marks in B.Sc. and Biology / Biotechnology as one of the subjects in +2 level are applicable
  •  For admission to Geography, only  aspirants with Second Class Honours in Geography /Second Class Honours in any  subject with Geography as one of the  Subject at graduation level (Arts/Science) Level are applicable
  • The aspirant must have hold of Hons. / Spl. / Graduation degree under 10+2+3 format the relevant /related subject from a recognised university.
Hons.

MA

  • Aspirant must have passed the qualifying degree with at least 50%marks (45 % for SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled etc)
  • For admission to Psychology aspirants Graduate with Psychology as a subject having minimum 2nd class Honours or minimum 50% aggregate marks at +3 Degree level are applicable.
  • For admission to PublicAdministration aspirants must have obtained minimum Second class honours in Public Administration/ minimum 50% marks in aggregate at +3 Degree level. / Spl. / Graduation degree under 10+2+3 format the relevant /related subject from a recognised university.
  • The aspirant must have hold of Hons. Hons. Indian History, Culture & Archaeology aspirants with minimum Second class Honours In History/ second class Honours in other subjects with 50% marks in Archaeology and Museology as a pass subject at the + 3 Degree level are applicable. 
  • For admission to Ancient. However an advantage of the addition of 5 or 10 marks to the career marks for aspirants passing B.A. with Political Science as pass or Honours subject respectively.
  • For admission to Sociology aspirants with Second class Honours in Sociology or minimum 50% of marks in aggregate with Honours in Anthropology, Political Science, Economics or Psychology are applicable

Master of Library and Information Science [M.Lib.I.Sc]

  • The aspirant must have hold of Hons. / Graduation degree under 10+2+3 format the relevant /related subject from a recognised university.
  • An advantage of the addition of 10 marks to the aspirants passing B.A. with Library Science as a Pass / Honours subject & for aspirants who have qualified one-year B.Lib. Inf. Sc.
  • Aspirant must have passed the qualifying degree with at least 50%marks (45 % for SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled etc)
Hons. / Spl.

LLM

  • Aspirant must have passed the qualifying degree i.e.  LL.B or equivalent law degree   with at least 50%marks (45 % for SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled etc)
  • Aspirants whose final year result is awaited are also applicable to apply

Master of Journalism and Mass Communication [MJMC]

  • Aspirant must have passed the qualifying degree with at least 50%marks (45 % for SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled etc)
  • The aspirant must have hold Graduation degree under 10+2+3 format in any stream from a recognised university.


Application Procedure for Utkal University Bhubaneshwar PG Admissions 2018

M.Sc, MA & M.Com

Aspirants must apply for admission by filling and submitting the finished application form before 7 June 2018 (tentative). Teaching Departments, Utkal University payable at any nationalized bank of Bhubaneswar in case of downloaded application)
  • Duly filled in application forms must be sent to the respective
  • Heads of the Department,

    • Aspirant must keep the Xerox copy of the finished applications for subsequent use

    The aspirant must submit the photo affixed and duly signed the application and the following copies of following documents.

    1. Mark sheets and Certificates of all examinations.
    2. C.L.C. All fields in the application form should be correctly and clearly filled-in with the relevant information.

      Important steps for filling in the application form:

      • Fill the application form with the necessary information.
      • The certificate shall be produced from the Rajya / Zilla Sainik Board by the participants interested to apply under Ex/In-service quota.
      • Enclose the application form with the important documents (e-reciept/DD / BC of Rs. 600 in favour of Administrative Office, P. G. The application form may be collected from the Office the Chairman, Post Graduate Council or from the Office of the Heads of the Department on payment of Rs. 600/- at the university cash counter.

        The aspirants can also obtain the application form from the university website. and Organize Certificate from the institution last attended.
      • Three passport size photographs (one to be fixed in the application form and two more copies to be attached to the form).
      • PH certificate physically challenged students and ID card alloted by District Welfare Officer / Community Development Officer / Social Welfare Department of State Government) by the physically challenged aspirants.
      • Original application fee e-receipt.
      • Migration Certificate, if the aspirant is not from Utkal University.
      • SC/ST Certificate from the competent authority (MP / MLA / Collector / ADM / SDO / Local Gazetted Revenue Officer not below the rank of Deputy Collector or Tahasildar) by aspirants of those categories.
      • Sports and Games Certificate of participation are needed for quota and special weightage consideration, from the competent Authority (Director of Sports / Sports Council of the Utkal University), countersigned by the Principal / HOD of the college/department by the aspirants interested to apply under the stated category.

    Admission to the above courses is based on the entrance examination/qualifying degree/or both.

    The University endows the following scholarships to its deserving aspirants:

    4. Post Graduate Merit scholarships
    5. MCM scholarships
    6. Post Matric Scholarships

    Hostel facility:

    The university offers separate hostel facility for boys and girls with different recreational facilities like broadband, sports etc.


    Admission Reservation for Utkal University Bhubaneshwar PG Admissions 2018

    As per the Government of Odisha Notification and university guidelines:

    • 16.25% of seats shall be reserved for Scheduled Caste students.
    • 22.5% of seats shall be reserved for Scheduled Tribe students.
    • For anthropology Out of 32 seats-
    1. 24 seats are reserved for aspirants with Honours degree in Anthropology or aspirants with Honours in Sociology, Psychology, Economics, Political Science, History and Geography with Anthropology as a pass or Elective subject
    2.  8 seats are reserved for aspirants with minimum 2nd Class Honours Degree in Zoology Botany, Biotechnology, Microbiology and Geology.
    •  For biotechnology Out of total 14 seats,
    1. 10 (ten) students will be selected via JNU common entrance test, New Delhi
    2. 4 (four) students will be selected via Utkal University Entrance Test.
